Catanduanes is an island province of the Philippines, located in the Bicol Region, off the eastern coast of the Bicol Peninsula. The accommodation, Reefbreak Resort, is a locally owned, rustic getaway known for its warm hospitality and friendly staff.
The onsite restaurant, located on the ground floor, is open most of the day and serves delicious local dishes. Guests will also have access to the kitchen if they'd like to store food in the fridge or prepare their own meals.
Weekends bring a lively vibe as local tourists visit the resort. From time to time, there are laid-back parties where locals gather to eat, drink, and dance - usually wrapping up by midnight. Since the building is concrete, guests staying on the second floor can still enjoy a quiet night’s rest. Of course, you’ll always be welcome to join in the fun!

Start your surf journey on a remote and breathtaking island in the Philippines - designed by women, for women. This all-women retreat goes beyond catching waves. It’s an immersive experience wherein you’ll reconnect with nature, dive into local culture, and build authentic friendships in a safe, supportive, and empowering space.
More than just a surf camp, this is a passion project that uplifts the local community by providing fair employment and sustainable opportunities to the people who call this island home.
As part of the journey, you’ll also have the chance to give back through a simple yet meaningful outreach program, leaving a positive and lasting impact on the island that welcomed you so generously.
The retreat begins on Day 1 with a warm welcome and airport pickup. From there, you’ll be brought straight to the resort for check-in and some time to settle in. You’ll kick things off with a basic surf orientation and safety briefing before anyone heads into the water. You'll also be fitted with a surfboard suited to your skill level.
Over the course of 10 days, you’ll have eight days of surf sessions - some of which will be recorded for video analysis to help you improve faster and with more intention.
Daily yoga classes will also be available and highly encouraged, especially for those looking to enhance flexibility, balance, and recovery. While optional, Happy Isla Surf and Island Tours offers great benefits whether you're a beginner or a seasoned surfer.
To balance the physical intensity of surfing, you’ll explore the island’s natural beauty with excursions to waterfalls, rolling hills, and scenic hikes, along with an unforgettable island-hopping trip to the stunning Caramoan Islands.
One of the most meaningful parts of the retreat is the community outreach program, where you’ll help organize and participate in a simple initiative that gives back to a local village of your choice.
Happy Isla Surf and Island Tours will take care of your meals, serving three nourishing dishes daily - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They’ll also provide some drinks for the bonfire nights and social gatherings under the stars.

Instructores
Elvis Legaspi
Elvis is the current #1 surfer of the island and of the region. He has consistently joined surfing competitions including national and international events. When not conducting surf lessons, you will see him rip through the giant waves of the Majestic. He is also a barrel master. Elvis not only offers surf lessons but will also conduct video analysis for your improvement.
Emerton Legaspi
Emerton Legaspi is the younger brother of Elvis and is equally good in surfing. He also competes in national competitions alongside his brother. Emerton surfs big waves well, if you're lucky you can witness his backside snaps and deep barrels.

Catanduanes is a remote and uncrowded island in the Pacific, home to the world-famous Majestic Wave, a haven for surfers seeking both adventure and serenity. Reefbreak Resort is located right in front of the surf break, offering direct access to the waves and stunning sunrises each morning.
The reef break keeps the shoreline calm, making it ideal not only for surfing but also for safe swimming and snorkeling. The beach is gated, providing a peaceful and secure environment, away from the noise of the village.
For your convenience, there are local restaurants and small stores nearby, and a vibrant market offering fresh produce just 15 minutes away.

Arrival by plane
To get to Catanduanes Island, you will first have to fly to Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport / Villamor Air Base (MNL) or NAIA. From there, you will have to take another flight to Virac Airport (IATA: VRC, ICAO: RPUV). There's only one flight per day going and leaving the island, so plan your trip well. Two way transfers from and to the airport is included in the price.
