Surf At Praia das Maçãs Surf School

Had a great time with two surf lessons. The instructors both Marco and André where very good and gave great feedback how to proceed and get better.

The group was diveded so we where just a few wich was perfect.

Thanks to all of you for great time, I look forward to return. Special thanks to Teresa how organised things when there where some missunderstanding in my booking at tje accommondation.

Es hat so unglaublich viel Spaß gemacht! Das war mein erstes Mal Surfen und die Trainer waren allesamt 1A. Trotz der ziemlich krassen Wellen in diesem Jahr, hatten sie alles immer im Blick. Am ersten Tag war einer der Trainer die ganze Zeit bei mir und hat mir geholfen. Das hat mir für die kommenden Tage so sehr geholfen, dass ich schon bald eigenständig länger auf dem Board stehen konnte. Dazu sind die Trainer auch charakterlich einfach nur großartig. Man fühlt sich nicht „dumm“, wenn man etwas nicht sofort kann und einfach sehr gut aufgehoben. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Ich fand die Betten sehr bequem, die Strände sind super schön und ich habe nice Leute kennen gelernt. Die Pizza dort ist sehr lecker. Die Surfstunden kann man so „buchen“ wenn man möchte, würde aber raten 3-Tage, 1 Tag Pause und dann die letzten zwei, wegen Muskelkater und so… außerdem ist die Ausrüstung hochwertig; gute Wetsuits. Bei 17 Grad Wassertemperatur habe ich nicht gefroren. Die Surfstunden für uns waren am Vormittag, wir waren zwischen 5-8 Leute, ab 6 hatten wir einen zweiten Surflehrer. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass nochmal zu machen.

The beach, sun, ocean and surfing. I wasn't sure how it would be to surf during christmas as it was my first time trying to surf but it turned out to be the best experience with thanks to my instructor André. He was on point with everything from picking me up, finding the best location to surf and most importantly teaching me the basic techniques and safety guidelines.

Regarding the accommodation, it is a literal oasis with everything you need in terms of kitchen, supermarket, restaurants, bar etc. And since it was the holidays and low season I had the place for myself.

this is the best surf camp I've ever been to! I recommend it especially to beginners who want to progress quickly and get professional advice from instructors - each of them is really brilliant

Ich kenne Surfcamp und die Surfschule bereits, beide sind sehr gut. Das Angebot an Speisen ist sehr gut, die Live Musik ein mal die Woche finde ich großartig, die Einkaufsmöglichkeit direkt im Camp finde ich ebenfalls ganz gut. Nicht weit gibt es ein Wochenmarkt, wo man frisches Gemüse und Fisch kaufen kann. Fussläufig erreicht man drei Strände. Busverbindung nach Sintra und Cascais ebenfalls sehr gut. Man hat ebenfalls die Möglichkeit den Yogakurs oder Fitnesskurs dazu zu buchen, es wird mehrmals am Tag angeboten. Surfschule und Lehrer sind ebenfalls sehr gut: aufmerksam, hilfsbereit, geben individuelle Tips. Ich war zum zweiten Mal hier, nun kann ich selbstständig Wellen reiten, Danke dafür!

Ich kann beides nur empfehlen, das wird ein tolles Erlebnis sein.

The people that work at the surf school and at the hostel are very friendly.

First of all; the people at the camp were super flexible about our arrival time, as we arrived at the camp at 02:00 am. There was obviously noone at the reception anymore but we managed to arrive and get inside our room easily. The location of the camp is great as it only takes you around 4 minutes to Praia Grande by car or around 15-20 minutes if you prefer to walk. There is a supermarket on the site where you can find almost everything you need and there are foodtrucks and restaurants inside the camp which offer a broad variety of really tasty food.

The surf-instructors were kind, helpful and easy-going which made the whole surfing-experience very enjoyable. There's a van that picked us up from the camp which was really nice and always on time.

For breakfast we enjoyed the small restaurant called Nomads inside the camp which offered a nice breakfast for a very fair price. They also very super kind and offered a variety of coffee, juices, bowls but also ice-cream and so on....

My partner and I enjoyed that the camp offers you the opportunity to meet people, as there are some solo travellers, groups, families but also people who live nearby and just enjoy the camp's site during their freetime. Also we thought that the location of the camp is perfect as you can reach beaches, a small city and Sintra + Lissabon within relatively short distance.

It was still a little early in the season so not a lot of backpackers but the camp is perfect with the restaurants and supermarket in the camp. The surf instructor was really nice and a good coach, definitely recommend I will be going back

I loved surfing every day. The people were super friendly, and nice. They always helped if we needed something. The food nearby was excellent (highly suggest Misssushi). The beaches are near (in 15 mins walk). Sintra worths a trip or two! The surfing coaches were fantastic!

My boyfriend and I had an awesome time doing 5 surfing lessons with Surf At Prair da Macas. We had five lessons with 5 different instructions, at first we really struggled, if though we had surf alot before the current was very strong on the beach due to the storms recently. So for 3 of the lessons after this they drove us to a beach and the swell was perfect! We both had never got such good waves before and learnt how to drop in. They were brilliant lessons and we learnt so much about reading water etc.

Class experience from start to finish. Everybody involved with the surf school is really nice, helpful and nice to hang out with. Picked out the perfect spots everyday. My surfing definitely improved and my legs are still paying the price. Even when it was tough, it was still fun. Gave help when it was required, let me just chill when I needed a breather. Can’t recommend this place enough, and some of them are now part-time Middlesbrough fans so that’s a bonus.

Accommodation was great, I was in a solo room which was lovely. Shop, food and drink all right on your doorstep.

The location is brilliant, for single people, couples or familys.

Two different beaches in walking distance in beautiful area.

Surf school was amazing and i always felt secure in waters with the teachers, can't wait to come back some day.

Breakfast and other goods to shop for cooking are a great deal.

Reception and communication was always on point.

The hostel is fun, we met a lot of nice people, it's cozy and mostly quiet but also with good access to restaurants and other facilities. The bakery attached to the supermarket is so nice!! Supermarket decently priced.

Surf lessons were AMAZING! We had so much fun and I learned a lot in a week. Felt very safe. Ended up booking an extra class!

The atmosphere, the people, the instructors were all amazing. Couldn't have been a better week. If you are thinking about going there, definitely do that. :)

We were three beginners at Surf.at and we had a great time. Wonderful instructors, fantastic location to surf - not over Overcrowded. The beaches are extraordinary. The weather was nice in the group of surfers was great. we would definitely visit again

The instructors took a lot of Time with me, cause it was difficult and they really helped a lot. It was awesome and they give me the passion! Plus, there was yoga classe available, it was really nice and helpfull with the surf too! A big thanks to all!

The place is also used by the locals and doesn't give the classical hostel vibe. It has a lot of open space and you feel more like your on a camp than a hostel. There will be kids and families using the facilities as well so if you have a hangover you might get mad, but this really isn't a drinking hostel. More a chill, do yoga and watch amazing sunsets, go on hikes and eat the amazing food they serve at the hostels restaurants.

The surf lessons really gets you in touch with the rest of the people staying at the hostel. There aren't too many things happening otherwise and it's kinda hard to get in touch with people if not for the surf lessons. But if your goal is to reconnect with yourself I cannot recommend this place enough.

I hadn't surfed before and was feeling really nervous about it, but the instructors were super nice and helpful and the feeling was quickly replaced by joy and mastery. In the beginning I was struggling just getting out to the waves, but on the road to the first white water wave there are so many small victories and the instructors really celebrated every step of it with me so it was super nice.

The yoga instructors were really good, even to a complete beginner like me I still feel I got something from just doing one hour and really wish I tried it before my last day - then I would do more sessions!

Super Hostel in wunderschöner Lage, zu Fuß kann man zwei Strände gut erreichen und direkt beim Hostel gibt es einen Supermarkt, Café, Restaurants... Man lernt schnell Leute kennen und die Surflehrer/Organisatoren sind super entspannt und flexibel. Sehr zu empfehlen! :)

The classes were fun and very adoptable to one's need and previous experience. The instructors were very nice and supporting while also creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The hostel was cute and relaxed, all felt very safe. I had a great time there, surfing and and taking it easy in the beautiful surrounding during the rest of the time.

I absolutly enjoyed surfing. The beach had perfect waves for beginners and was very stunning. With the help of Gabriel i was able to catch my surf waves and it sparked a ambition for surfing inside me! The Hostel was clean and had everything you need incl. a nice supermarket and a lot of restaurants inside of the camp but if needed you can also cook your own food in the hostel kitchen. I would definitly recommend it to anyone who wants to try surfing!

Great people and surf experience

The town, the location (near the beach, near a town), the reception, the people that work in the Aldeia, the views, the rooms, the cleanliness; all were on point. The surf camp was organisationally very smooth. They picked me up from the camp, took me to awesome beaches. The instructors are super encouraging whilst giving key tips and corrections. The vibes were just awesome, the surf lessons make you want to surf every day.

The positive attitude, always good energy. And the fact that we were at really good places to learn even if it was a bit far away.

The instructors are nice and they pay attention to all trying to make everyone surfing.

Tha camping has a bar and the supermarket so you can shop your food and save some time and money

Andre is very encouraging and patient. I am a slow learner, but I feel a lot of fun through surfing.

Surf Coaches were great.. they always made sure that we feel safe and comfortable with where we are.. they took us to a lot of different beaches so we saw more places then we thought.

Wozld deffinitely recomend it

It was a lovely week at the surf camp. The surfing trainers were really helpful and paid attention to all participants. I got free photos from one of my lessons. The location of the camp is about 1.5 km from the beach were we were surfing- praia Grande. I had only one lesson at a different location and the transport was provided.

Overall- good value for money. If you haven't tried surfing yet, it's a good place to start.

I very much enjoyed the surf lessons that were offered to us. The experience was personalized by getting good tips for each person. I appreciated the instructors trying to challenge each of us at our own level. I also enjoyed being able to go to a different beach to get better waves for our level. The accommodation was at a walkable distance to 2 beaches. It was also easy to access many other nice places by bus or Uber. There was a well equipped grocery store right beside our hostel which was useful if you like to cook. I enjoyed the back patio we had outside our room but would be nice with more patio chairs. Access to the variety of restaurants in the place was nice and we tried the pizza which was very good.

All of the staff/instructors were very nice and fun to be around. The food was great and there were many options. The beds were also comfortable

Surfschool was Incredible. All teachers were really thoughtfull and would help us all to catch waves. The also brought us to another Beach to surf 2 days, that was important cuz the waves there were easier than the waves at Praia Grande.

I’m looking forward to come back and surf with them again.

For me this first time experience was incredible. Very cool and interesting people and the vibe of the staff is really good. They are very welcoming and easy to talk.

Hostel hat eine tolle Atmosphäre und die Restaurants auf dem Gelände sind hervorragend gewesen. Alles in allem eine sehr empfehlenswerter Urlaub gewesen

The whole experience was amazing in every aspect you want to look at. The surfing camp hs great facilities like supermarket, kitchen, restaurants and volley ball court. The hostel has friendly environment and most people are traveling alone so everyone wants to get to know each other. The hostel is 15mins away by feet from the beach. The surfing instructors are friendly and also good teachers. Overall it was such an amazing experience which i am willing to do again next year!

All the surf instructors were very patient and friendly and we caught some big waves!

The staff at the hostel was very helpful and answered all our questions.

All in all it was a great experience, thank you for having us!

Good surf lesson and good advice. Some are a bit more experienced so the lesson are a bit more adapted. Learned a lot and challenged myslef a lot. Thanks.

Hele fijne sfeer en het surfen was goed. Alleen de instructeur die wij hadden (staat hier niet tussen) kon amper Engels, waardoor de communicatie wat stroef verliep. Verder wel een hele aardige man.
