Rob is super knowledgeable about surfing and body positioning and awareness. Really helped my surfing to get the video analysis.

Everything was absolutely spot on. The whole experience was beyond expectations. This was my first solo travel experience for some time and it lived up to its excellent ratings. Rob and Lou are great people, organisers, coaches, hosts. The location, accommodation and importantly the surfing coaching were first class. The vibe within the lodge is welcoming, relaxed and friendly. This attracts very nice guests who return again and again. Many of the other guests were returners, what better testament do you need?

The camp was great, this was my 4th time in a camp but definitely the one I learned the most and got to improve my skills in riding the waves. Location is ideal, next to the centre of town and walking distance from the surfing beach, good to warm up before lessons. Accommodation had all it need to enjoy my experience and relax, with hot showers, kitchen and garden at the back. Equipment was also provided good quality for suits and boards. But the best part for sure are the instructors, Rob and Lou, easy going persons, enthusiasts with high energy and lots of knowledge to give, they got the surfers experience and also the skill to teach on to how to improve, even if the learner is beginner or more advanced. A go to camp for the future in my view, soon as I have time off I'll be there again!

I had an amazing week. As well as actually helping you get better at surfing and improving your technique, which is why I came, they reminded me to also have fun in the water. Actually enjoying myself and relaxing made my surfing better as well! This week made me want to move to the seaside.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what I liked from an experience that was so great through and through. I was fortunate to have met lots of people who also helped the experience be even more fun. From the first day I arrived I was shocked by the cleanliness of the house and the amount of space available to me such as the common room which was spacious and comfortable. Beds and cushions on the bedroom were also very comfy; we were all given a key for our own room and house which helped me feel like my belongings were safe but the atmosphere was so nice and natural that I never really gave any thought to locking my door when I left the house. There is also a movement room in the house which allowed everyone to work on their balance for the surfing lessons as well as roll mats to stretch after a long session of surfing.

Both instructors were extremely helpful and thought in a great way that allowed everyone to progress very quickly. All advice given in and out of lessons was very helpful. As a person who hopes to continue surfing the tips and info about what boards would best suit me was very helpful.

All in all it was a great experience that I would recommend and would do again once I improve on all the tips they have given me.

I was scared to go on my first solo trip but I didn't need to be. Everyone was really friendly, and it was a great atmosphere. Lou and Rob are brilliant teachers and I learnt a lot.

Lou and Rob are very dedicated to surfing and are very good instructors. They told us the proper surfing technique and during the lesson they told you what things you were doing wrong so you could improve. We also did video coaching so you could spot other mistakes you were doing.

I suddenly got 4 day off, then I found Base Surf Lodge on book surf camp website and asked them if any space left. Rob and Lou respond me so quick! Luckily, there was 1 space left so I can join.

They are welcoming and very nice! They allow me to check in very early as I arrive at Newquay at 7am by overnight coach. Rob and Lou are really amazing surf teachers. Their teaching is step by step, not all at once. I used to rush on catching waves but they teach us to slow down and be calm. Also, I improved a lot on the pop up skill. I used to jump on the surfboard, however, it is not proper. From here, I learned the solid foundation of popping up, reprogramming me from previous bad habit.

Great teachers, great accommodation and great food. Cheers! Highly recommend!!!

The breakfast was very delicious. Rob and Lou were very friendly hosts. I learned a lot about surfing.

I stayed for 5 days with Rob and Lou and it was amazing! Everything was perfect, the accomodation, the food (big breakfasts and the bbq!) and the surfinglessons. It was a very familial environment and because the group isn‘t overloaded, Rob & Lou were able to give us individual feedback while surfing in the sea and also through the video analysis, which was helpful aswell! Therefor I was able to make a big progress and learnt how to surf!

I had an incredible time at base surf lodge, would definitely go back. I was travelling alone and met lots of other solo travellers, was very sociable and the barbecue was good to meet people too. The accommodation was clean and nice, loved the movement room with stuff to practice on land, and their kitchen was equipped to make basic food. I was told that we couldn't really use the kitchen apart from to make sandwiches but we ended up making pasta and it was fine. The surfing teaching was really clear, engaging and fun. There was a 2 hour lesson each day and we were free to borrow the boards for the rest of the day. Both Rob and Lou were lovely and really encouraging, the video session was also super useful. I had a very warm greeting to Rob and Lou's gorgeous surf lodge when I arrived. When I first entered, the lodge was so warm and welcoming, like the hosts. Also the place was spotlessly clean. Lovely brekkie selection everyday and the perfect walking distance to town and Fistral to catch some waves. Christie and Lou were my instructors and they were both incredible. I've surfed a few times before but never enjoyed it this much nor even got as far out as green waves until this time, which was so exciting! I can't rate or thank Rob and Lou enough, they prepared a delicious BBQ as well and they're just so friendly and make their guests feel special. Also, I loved little badger Zack ❤ the sweetest pooch. I'm now looking at dates to come back. The best first time in Cornwall and not the last staying here. 😊

Beaches are all 5 mins walk away. Access to Fistral beach and harbour.

Surf lesson was great fun and in our first time surfing we all managed to stand on our boards.

Base offers a really excellent surf school experience for both beginners and intermediates. I've been to several other schools and found that they struggle a lot with pitching lessons at the right level, but Lou is an amazing instructor who knows how to assess individual skills and tailor her lesson plan and individual instruction to the level that's needed. Also, this is the only surf school I've been to where I felt that the instruction on the shore and exercises we did on the beach actually helped everyone to improve in the water (yes, even for someone who can already functionally ride a board). The school is really well located with access to both Fistral beach and the harbour, so there are great options for a really wide range of surf conditions. Also, the accommodation is really nice and the vibe is very chill. :)

Lou and Rob are so welcoming and have a great set up at base. Surf lessons were brilliant - Lou is a great teacher! The surf and stay package is really good value. Highly recommend for anyone looking to surf in Newquay. Really quick access to the beach for the lessons. The house garden was particularly nice for eating breakfast. I can’t wait to go back!

Accommodation was very organised and had all you need for a nice break. Surfing equipment was available so no need to worry about booking it from somewhere else. Lessons were great, following Lou's pointers progress was fast even in a short break. Lou took time to modify the session according to how you were progressing. Great small holiday.

The location is fantastic, right next to the beach and the town. The surf lessons were great and the instructor gave helpful tailored advice to each of us.

The location is perfect, 5 minutes by foot from the beach and the town center.

This was my first time travelling alone and the first time I've ever surfed properly. I was made very welcome when I arrived which was lovely. The breakfast was more than enough - you don't want a full English when you're about to have a surf lesson! The surfing was a great experience. Lou was extremely knowledgeable and super patient with me and the other girls. I felt that I learned loads and definitely improved over the 3 days I was there. The location of the lodge was excellent, a stone's throw away from Fistral Beach and the town. The beds were clean and comfy as were the bathroom facilities. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Thank you to Base Surf for your hospitality. I honestly can't fault anything and I will be back!

The surf lessons were great, I was a complete beginner and Lou was very good, she was patient and helpful with feedback.. I managed to get the hang of it and was very happy with my progress! Would definitely recommend!

Lou, our instructor, was fantastic and patient. She was a great teacher and a wonderful host. The lodge is clean and in an ideal location.

I stayed at base surf lodge with my 11 year old son, we had three lessons with Lou and she was absolutely fantastic, she managed to teach us to stand on the boards by the third day and we havent stopped talking about our surf holiday since. Lou and Rob are both really friendly and Lou is a great teacher. I really could not recommend Base Surf Camp enough if you are looking for a surf holiday in England.

The surf classes were really good and I feel like I learned a lot. While I was there we were a rather smaller group, which was great since Lou would tell us how to improved after every wave we caught. Lou made sure that we always knew where to catch good waves even if there were a lot of people in the water. The equipment was new and the accommodation was very nice. It felt more like a home for the week than a hostel. The hostel is located only a 5 Minute walk from Fistral Beach and there are some nice coastal walks around the area.

Loved surfing lesson! Lou was very attentive during the lesson and instructions were easy to understand. Had so much fun!

Accommodation was cosy and kept very clean, and the communal areas provided a nice space to relax and chat to others. Surf lessons were really enjoyable and as a complete beginner I found I made great progress thanks to Lou's excellent tuition. I hope to come again for another 'surf and stay' package in the future!

Lou and Rob were magnificent hosts from the moment I booked my trip and even after I was back home. I am definitely coming back to this gem - I can not fault anything, the experience was unique and value for money. If you are looking for a place to stay and meet like- minded and awesome people BASE SURF LOGDE IS YOUR PLACE!

Also the fact Fistral beach was literally 5 mins away made things easier and accessible.
