This school is a bargain! It has an amazing location, with very comfortable facilities. The lessons and equipment are top (shout out to our amazing instructor Xande). Would recommend this place to anyone and can't wait to go back!

They worked so hard to help me stand up on a surfboard.

- All the staff are super friendly!

- The room is clean and tastefully renovated.

- I was sick and couldn't surf, and I was given the flexibility to cancel some classes on short notices. Very much appreciated!

- For the class I did take - it was fun!

- Great place to socialize as well since there are many other young people in the camp!

left 1* for the food, as there was no food provided. Other than that, had an amazing time there!

Surfing was a lot of fun. Everyone was super chill, friendly, and laid back. Everything was provided for the surfing. The instructors were very helpful and fun.

And the number of people on each class was perfect! very good teachings. Thank you!

I've been there only for 4 days and I had such a great time. The surf instructors make sure you learn the basis of surfing before going into the water and at the end ( 6 lessons) I was able to stand up on the board every time. The hostel is clean and the people who are working/volunteering there are very helpful and always available for you. The atmosphere is so nice there and you'll meet so many people from all over the world !!

Lovely people, beautiful spot. They make sure to take care of your surfing experience. Perfect for young travellers and families.

We stayed 12 days at Alex Surf School and it exceeded all our expectations. We enjoyed so much. Especially we would like to thank our surf instructors. Tiago and Alejandro were always there for us to provide with excellent surf sessions and to bring our skills to a new level. They were very professional and attentive. We were maximum 4 people in the group so there was a lot of attention to everyone. Wetsuits and boards in good condition, almost new. Also we would like to thank Alex and Paloma for arranging a lot of activities in a free time. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Very nice pool and barbecue area to chill between sessions. We would definitely recommend Alex Surf School and we will come back there again.

I unfortunately do not have much of a Surf School basis for comparison but if any camps are even close to the experience at Alex's Surf School, I would consider them a world class stay. The quality of the surf lessons and the attention you get from the instructors was amazing. In particular with Thiago and Andre. No more than 5 people to a class (very often less) and always ensuring you get one on one time and tips with the instructor. The accomodation does the job and has everything you need for a hostal stay. The instructors know the surf spots perfectly and always ensure you get the best swell available. Lastly, everyone, both guests and staff, are incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in meeting new people, something often taken for granted in this type of stay.

Alex Surf School was an amazing experience. The accommodations are modern. The location is great with restaurants and the beach all in a short walking distance. The surf equipment and instruction was superb. There is a great family atmosphere here. Alex and his family are very involved in planning activities for the guests and are very social. Definitely not a party hostel, but everyone gets along so well and is very respectful.

Owners (Alex and Paloma) are super nice, accommodating and very professional. They have the surf school / instructors on site, which make everything very smooth and easy. I insist about "Surf Instructors"... meaning instructors trained and certified to teach surf... not just "good surfers" baby sitting tourists. It makes a huge difference with other schools around. Facility are nice and always clean... diner / swimming pool area is definitely a plus. Fabrice

Alex Surf School is much more than just a surf hostel….it‘s an experience you will never forget with nice people and warmhearting host. I stayed for 13 nights and wished I could stay even longer. The accomodation is clean and modern and the outdoor area is one of it‘s kind. The professional surf teacher will bring you on another surf level in no time and you will improve a lot. Overall I enjoyed my time and hope to come back soon.

Surf trainers and stuff was very friendly.

Where to begin with … ? Our vacations at Alex surf camp were incredible. You feel like home very quickly, everything is cleaned and beautiful. Everybody’s nice and smiling, it looks like your family after one night in this place.

Then the surf … well, I never had instructors that were like this ! Helping all the time, sincerely involved in your surf progression, giving you super good advices and helping you having fun and feel confident … what else ? Small classes also, it’s a big difference with other schools !

I would definitely recommend you to go to this place !

Excelent teachers and a great friendly enviorment, you feel how you improve each lesson and at the end of only 3 days I was able to catch some waves with ease

The whole team made my holiday there very special. The surf school is equipped with everything. Old stuff can’t be found there, but excellent surf instructors.

Everything was super clean. A nice terrace, comfortable rooms, a beautiful pool, a cool barbecue place. The perfect vibe.

Super Student- teacher ratio, only 2 other people in my surfgroups, very clean, good roomsize, skateevenings and bbq nights. Had a great time!!!

Accommodation very close to good surf spots - 5 minutes walk.

House is equipped with everything you need.

We were 3 friends together in the house in 3 separate rooms and it was perfect for us.

We took one surf lesson with Andre, and it was perfect.

Paloma was filming with video Camera so we had also analysis of the surf session with Andre.

This was absolutely perfect!

Having both instructor in the water and camera outside is the best combination.

Andre's analysis was very good and helpful.

Stuff is very nice and caring and we had a great time there.

the instructors André and Tiago were so nice and laidback. they help you to bring out the best of you and, at the same time, they let you enjoying your own waves at your own pace.

The Hostel is clean, cool and 1-2 min walk from the sea: good vibes only! The exterior spaces and the pool are very relaxing.

Alex, Paloma and the staff in general are always available and super cheerful. The surf lessons are held in small groups and surf instructors follow everyone easily, giving tailored advice.

The accommodation was excellent! Perfect location and so clean and quite! Classes were awesome. We had few different coaches and they were all great! Our main coach though was Andre and he was so passionate about this sport!

Really nice apartment nearby the beach. Alex makes you feel at home and organized an awesome bbq. The lessons were great too, wish I could've stayed there a bit longer!

It’s great that you can find everything you possibly need for surfing in Alex’s surf school - great housing, all equipment for rent, awesome instructors who are motivated to teach you how to surf and have fun. Quim is our favorite! Special thanks to Liza for all the help with getting around!

Everything was amazing. Literally amazing. First time surfing, booked only 3 nights with 6 lessons, but I was able to make a bit of progress with the help of the incredible instructors Tiago and Kim. It’s been a lot of fun in a super friendly environment, having everyone with a huge smile on their face! I can only recommend Alex surf school and hostel from the bottom of my heart, and can’t wait to be back! Thank you for the experience!

I felt at home at Alex Surfschool in Baleal. I chose it without knowing anything about it and ended up realizing I was lucky as hell. I spent 2 weeks there and didn't want to leave! The best thing I think is how genuinely passionate about surfing and sharing this passion everyone at the camp is, in a way that links everyone together in a big family. The instructors are skilled (and the sweetest, yess, thinking about you guys <3, Tiago, Nathalie, Dave, Davide, Bryam, Arnan), you start having lessons with them and end up talking about surfing over beers, 'cause every two or three days Alex and Paloma organize something to bring everyone together, might be a skate party at Alex's pool, bbq night, beers at the gameclub in front of the hostel... I basically had loads of fun and made new friends while my surfing skills improved dramatically! What else?

The place has everything you need, accomodation is beautiful and practical, 6 mins away from the rendesvouz point for lessons and rentals at the beach. Baleal has at least 3 different places to surf at you can reach on foot and even more 15 mins away by car. The supermarket is 3 mins away. Baleal is only 10 mins away by car from Peniche and you can reach Peniche with a super comfortable bus ride (1.30h) from Lisbon.

You only need to bring your own passion for surfing and you're all set!

Accommodations were extremely clean and a well organized check in and check out process! We stayed with our two daughters ages 14 and 20...had a great day of surf lessons with Brian and enjoyed our time in Baleal. We toured to the nearby town of Obidos and enjoyed days at the beaches and had some great dinners! It was a comfortable stay and we met some very nice people staying at the hostel. Shared kitchen, dining and living room areas were very nice and a way to meet the others staying in the hostel. Would recommend this place for sure!!

The location of Alex surf camp is a short 10 minute walk to the surf school on the beach, the instructors of Alex surf school are extremely friendly and helpful, giving fantastic advise to help improve my surfing skills. Overall 10/10

I had an amazing experience with Alex Surf Camp. Tiago was an incredible instructor. He really went above and beyond his responsibilities as a coach and I felt like I learned a ton and was really able to improve my surfing. On top of that, Alex and Paloma were both extremely sweet and welcoming and really made the camp feel like a community while I was there. Highly, highly recommend this camp.

Very welcoming people, very relaxed and friendly. You can feel that theese guys have really felt how it is to go with the stream. Paddling against isn't healthy. No extremist, but likes extreme boddy exercise. Beleal is still nice, i hope that they will maintain most of it. I felt peace, so i send all of them a comfortable temperate heart, and wish them all the most relaxed mind and soul and total schwiftynes🤙

That was great time! Our hosts organized a barbecue and a dinner for us and other guests, so we could meet and get to know better - that was really good idea. Also the surf lessons were very good - instructor was well prepared, spoke english very well and could explain basic technics. We've met amazing people and never forget the experience:)
