You will stay for four nights at Yuckite's cabaña, which is right in the heart of the kite beach of Progreso, Yucatan. There, you can fully enjoy the experience of kiteboarding, optional yoga lessons, great food, and new friends.

Program

At Yuckite, all the lessons will be taught individually. Every student will have his / her own I.K.O. certified instructor as well as personalized equipment to ensure that their training will progress at their own pace, guaranteeing the most effective learning experience.

In order to be a safe and independent rider, the average amount of lessons is 12 hours, which will be divided into sessions of two to four hours per day. The instructors and assistant instructors have been trained and examined thoroughly by this organization to provide a high-quality and safe learning experience.

The package includes instruction based on I.K.O. methodology, international I.K.O. certificate (virtual card), and the usage of the entire equipment (kite, control bar, flotation vest, and helmet with two-way radio, if needed).

Location

Yuckite's kite center is located directly on the beach and the accommodation is located just across the street in a quiet neighborhood in the town of Progreso. Since this is often a stop for cruise ships, there are plenty of great restaurants to visit and the local food is great. The center of town is five kilometers away, but it is easy to get there by taxi or Über.

Your kiteboarding experience will take place in Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico. Below are the kiteboarding spots chosen by Yuckite.

El Playon

“El Playón” is the main spot for teaching and is the most frequented kite spot in Progreso. With a wide beach and its shallow water out a long way, it offers perfect conditions for safe and comfortable kiteboarding lessons.

The wind blows mainly side-onshore, between 15 to 25 knots almost every day throughout the year. From beginners to pro riders, this spot is just perfect for kiting.

La Ria De Chelem

When there is southeast wind in Yucatan, you can go kiting at “La Ría de Chelem.” The water flows in from the ocean to the land and creates an impressive space for kiting. At “La Ría,” the water is flat and shallow. Due to the location’s characteristics - gusty and onshore wind - “La Ría de Chelem” is a spot only for advanced riders.

However, thanks to the local boatmen and the use of jetskis, Yuckite can take students to the middle of the wide Ría to share the amazing kite experience in that beautiful spot in a safe way. Yuckite works constantly with Chelem’s cooperative in order to improve the spot’s conditions for kiteboarding.

Chuburna

This is a multifarious spot! Chuburná is located in the west of Progreso, shortly after the village Chelem. A breakwater divides the beach into two: on the one side is the wavy ocean, whereas on the other side, you’ll find flat water.

Things to do (optional)

Mornings at Yuckite are quiet and can be spent relaxing in a hammock on the beach at the kite center, renting a standup paddleboard (SUP) and going for a paddle, or taking an Über to the town center and exploring the markets.

Progreso has many restaurants serving fresh seafood and local cuisine, but the town itself is pretty quiet, so don't expect to find many lively bars or clubs.

On no-wind days, there are plenty of things to do, such as going on a tour to the cenotes, going scuba diving in the cenotes, visiting Mayan Ruins, sailing, sailing on the Hobie cat, or SUP tours and wind SUP.
