Some of the waves in Mentawai include Beng Beng, Nipussi, Burgerworld, Ebay, Pitstop, Bankvaults, Hideaways, Jendi's Left, 4 Bob, Rifles, and Secret Spot.
A rippable left, Beng Beng is probably one of the most fun waves to surf in Mentawai Islands. It's good for surfers of all ability levels. It is nestled inside a small bay with literally one of the most imaginative scenic views around you.
A high performance right hander located inside a reef-laden cove, most surfers line up at the top of the point and surf a solid wall that hugs the inside. During the west swell, some surfers prefer to sit and wait for the swinger sets which break in the middle of the cove.
This is a mushy point break-like right hander. It can offer barrels at times, but it's usually just long rippable walls with many cutback sections.
This is a hollow left that barrels off the take-off with a short wall down the line. A great option when a lot of swell is hitting.
This is the right-off-the-peak at E-Bay. Usually a playful right that can offer some cover-ups off the take-off, but mostly high performance waves with air sections at the end; it ends in a sandy channel.
A heavy right hander that barrels and spits, it is usually larger than most spots in the area. Watch out for clean-up sets.
A very hollow left that can be shallow at times. It comes out of deep water, then unloads on a shallow section of reef before barreling towards the channel. It can get very shallow at low tides.
A long barrelling left that can turn while you're inside.
This one is mainly a right with a short barrel off the takeoff, but quickly dies off into the channel. There’s an even shorter left, but it's usually not worth the effort.
One of the best waves in Mentawai. A very long righthander that wraps around the other side of the same island as No Kanduis. Rarely makeable from start to finish, but even just from section to section you can get rides up to 100 meters or longer. Nice and hollow once it’s a few feet overhead, but usually more section-y at smaller sizes.
You will be taken to local secret surf spots if the weather and swell direction permit.
