Welcome to Wind Sports Center Algarve's camp, which is different from everything else.

Located in the city of Lagos, Wind Sports Center Algarve's accommodation is located close to the historic center, providing a wide range of commercial or cultural places, restaurants, bars, and marina, as well as everything you need to enjoy a magnificent holiday in the Algarve. Guest house are located approximately two kilometers from our center.

The 3 Marias Guest House is a great option for travelers who want comfortable accommodation with good location and quality / price.

You will find everything you need for a pleasant stay in the beautiful city of Lagos, Algarve, Portugal!

In addition to spacious, air-conditioned rooms, you can enjoy a terrace with a fabulous sea view where you can soak up the sun and admire the beauty of the city of Lagos.  The 3 Marias Guest House offers on its terrace a daily nice and fresh breakfast.

3 Marias Garden House offers accommodation in Lagos with a lovely garden, where breakfast is served each morning. Featuring free WiFi throughout.

Catch the chill wave

Surfing is one of the sports that has been attracting more practitioners in recent years. Undoubtedly the most popular water sport, the waves located right in front of Wind Sports Center Algarve's station is perfect for learning to surf quickly, easily, and safely.

You can surf in any of their destinations with multi-level lessons and surf equipment rental. Surf or standup paddleboard classes on the waves can be taken in Meia Praia, with southeast swell (normally open three or four days of each month) or on the west coast (Costa Vicentina), with waves for all levels.

At Wind Sports Center Algarve, you can learn the sport or improve your skills in a short space of time.

Surf - Beginners course:

Learning the fundamentals of surfing, the focus will be on catching waves and standing up.

Beginner level 1

  • A total beginner to the sport

In the white-water catching waves, earn how to position yourself on a surfboard, learning how to catch waves, and attempt to stand.

Beginner level 2

  • A beginner with limited experience

In the white-water catching waves, know where to position yourself on a surfboard, learn how to stand or stand inconsistently, and practice paddle technique.

Beginner level 3

  • A beginner with some experience and consistency in their ability to stand

Regularly catching white-water waves through paddling, know where to position yourself on a surfboard, start to increase the length of time standing on the board, and speed up getting to your feet / pop-up.

Surf course - Improver:

At this level, the focus will shift from getting to your feet to board control, the length of ride, and to starting to introduce maneuvers.

Improver level 1

  • Standing consistently and starting to use weight distribution

Comfortable at consistently standing on a surfboard, use weight distribution correctly to slow down and speed up, begin to look to turn the board left and right, and be aware of and apply surfing etiquette.

Improver level 2

  • Paddling into white-water waves without assistance

Introducing rail-to-rail surfing and speed generation, learn how to paddle through the white-water, start turtle roll / duck dive / punch through waves, adjust your stance to enable turning, and have confidence in your paddling.

Improver level 3

  • Can paddle out the back on smaller days and catch waves consistently

On smaller days, know how to paddle through the white-water, have some knowledge on surf conditions / forecasts, be introduced to bottom turns, and be able to duck dive / turtle turn consistently.

Surf course - Intermediate:

Surfing out the back, paddle into the waves unassisted, have knowledge of trimming, and turn both left and right.

Intermediate level 1

  • Can paddle out the back using duck dives / turtle turns, trim left and right along the wave, and bottom turn

Know where to position yourself outback, paddle out the back consistently, be able to read the waves and decide whether to go left or right, and be able to bottom turn.

Intermediate level 2

  • Progressing on from having a successful bottom turn to working on cut-back and introducing other maneuvres

Confidently surfing top-to-bottom of the wave, be able to generate speed rail to rail, understand changes in body position such as compression and extension, and understand the fundamentals of reading surf forecasts and conditions.

Surf course - Advanced:

Advanced surfers are able to select the best waves when in the line-up and can make the most of the wave through a variety of maneuvers, optimizing on speed, power, and flow. They are confident in a variety of conditions, know how to read conditions, and position themselves in the line-up, successfully completing maneuvres such as cutbacks.

They are also looking for coaching to improve specific elements of their surfing.

Wind Sports Center Algarve's advanced-level classes are held privately, semi-privately, or in small groups with a maximum of three students to ensure maximum learning success.

Schedule

On the first day, they will do a small questionnaire to understand the level of the student and what he or she wants to learn or improve, then they choose the right equipment and start the adventure.

At the end of the class, the student will be evaluated to understand what was his or her progress and prepare for the next days of class, which will be scheduled immediately. The process continues for the following days until the end of the course.

Wind Sports Center Algarve's headquarters

The headquarters is located in Meia Praia, next to the hotels and in a quiet area with several restaurants just 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the center of Lagos. The beach is a paradise of calm, crystal clear waters surrounded by low sand dunes and an extensive stretch of sand of approximately five kilometers, which extends to Lagoa de Alvor.

Food

Daily breakfast and dinner are included. The menu is updated daily and you can enjoy the fresh and seasonal products. The natural juices of the day, fresh fish, or typical Portuguese food will be some of the options.

Typical food

At Wind Sports Center Algarve's surf camp, the concept is different from the others. They want you to get to know their gastronomy and customs to experience the Algarve in a more genuine way. For this reason, their breakfasts and dinners are held at the best pastry shops and restaurants in the city of Lagos.

The Algarve breakfast uses toasted bread cut into three strips and spread with salted butter. A sandwich or croissant mixed with ham and cheese is also very common, accompanied by a gallon (coffee with milk) or an orange juice. To finish off, a coffee espresso and pastel de nata or rice cake will give you the energy and calories needed for the day’s sporting activity.

Portugal is known for its magnificent gastronomy. For seven nights, participants will have dinner at several restaurants in the city, and taste traditional Algarve food with Mediterranean flavors - from fresh fish and seafood to delicious sweets and fruits. Things to do (optional)

Other activities are not included in the camp price, but during your stay in Algarve, you should not miss a kayak or standup paddle tour to the caves at sunrise with Wind Sports Center Algarve's experienced guides and a day of nightlife in the city with a good atmosphere.

Lagos nightlife

In the evening, after a day full of water activities, you can enjoy the atmosphere welcoming you to the city of Lagos. Try the various restaurants serving typical Algarve food. Enjoy the nightlife of this city known for its bars full of surfers and tourists from all over the world in an aura of tranquility and happiness that lasts well into the night.

It will be extremely fun to go out at night because you never know who you’re going to meet.

How to get there

Arrival by plane

Please book your flight to arrive at Faro Airport (FAO). Transfer from this airport is available for an additional cost of 70 EUR, one way. The airport is about three hours from any European capital. You can also book your flight to Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS).

Arrival by car

Travel from Faro to Lagos is easy along the highway “Via do Infante.” A trip by road from the airport is about 60 minutes to Wind Sports Center Algarve.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
