WildMex focuses on two main principles: safety and fun. They ensure that all students have a solid grounding in surfing and water safety before they head out into the waves. They will continuously assess your ability to make sure that you are surfing on the right breaks to make your lessons as safe and as fun as possible. All the instructors are qualified, bilingual, and are lots of fun! Where ability levels are similar, you may also get the chance to surf in a group with other students, a great opportunity to meet other surfers from all over the world.
Newbies will learn how to pop up correctly and catch their own waves, beginning in the whitewater and progressing onto green waves. Depending on your progress, you will have a 10-15 minute land lesson on the first few days to practice techniques. Then it will be time to hit the water with your qualified bilingual instructor's help. Your instructor will keep an eye on your progress and make sure you're at a surf break with the best conditions for your ability.
Surfing guides will coach you throughout the week, ensuring you are able to improve your surfing. You will explore different breaks, receive local tips from guides, and continuously improve your surfing with your coach’s help. Guests can try different boards from WildMex's collection of over 300 surfboards, meet great people, and enjoy a worry-free surf holiday. When conditions and ability levels allow, you may also go to boat-accessible surf breaks.
You will be met at the Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) by the optional transfer service and will be taken to your accommodation in the village of Sayulita. After driving through the beautiful jungle, you will emerge at the entrance of the beautiful beachside village of Sayulita. You will spend the afternoon and evening getting acquainted with the cobblestone streets and open-air markets of this old Mexican surfing village. You can settle into your accommodation and get a good rest after the traveling.
After you wake up and have enjoyed a nice breakfast, you will meet the staff of WildMex Surf and Adventure at the beach location on the first low tide of the day with your small group for the first scheduled surf lesson and transfer to the best spot of the day. For the first lesson, you will start from theory and everything you need to know before going into the water will be explained. After introductions and some land lessons in safety, surf etiquette, and basic techniques, you’ll be ready to hit the water and catch your first waves!
WildMex expert instructors will teach you basic surf dynamics including wave selection, speed, and the pop-up technique. Your surf instructor will be hands-on to work with you individually and give great tips to improve your efficiency. By the end of this day, beginners will have caught their first wave and more advanced surfers will have perfected fundamental skills.
You will then have a break for lunch and a much-needed rest. You should take this opportunity to hit the fresh fruit stand on the sandbar or grab a seaside burrito since you’ve certainly earned it. Take the rest of the afternoon at your own pace to improve on the skills that you have learned or just go explore the beautiful town of Sayulita and see what it has to offer!
Your second day of surfing in Sayulita will build on the fundamentals you have already learned. Today, your instructors will take you to the next level by teaching you how to select the best waves, pivot, and optimal paddling techniques to catch waves by yourself. Get ready to move to deeper water and catch breaking waves! The latter part of the morning will be an open surf session to catch a few more waves and some one-on-one time with your instructors. Now you will have the confidence and skills to move on to the bigger waves and different breaks that lie ahead!
After the lesson you, will have a free time wherein you can go get some delicious tacos and have the best margarita of your life while watching the sunset. Just ask the staff for recommendations, they know the best places!
During these days, guests will go on three surf trips. Depending on the current conditions and the guest's level, land accessed or boat accessed breaks will be chosen to get you surfing. Instructors will take these days to the next level by teaching guests the dynamics of moving around on a point break. Guests will have a chance to catch clean long waves by themselves and experience long and smooth rides.
If you just haven't had enough, get your morning surf and catch the last waves before your transport back to Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).
