You will have 15 hours of surf lessons, both theory and practice. In addition, you will also be practicing yoga three times a week - the yoga is especially targeted at surfers. Additionally, you will have two morning routines with meditation and Qigong. WaveSisters is a surf school for women, girls, and their kids only. Experience has shown that women and girls are able to pick up surfing more quickly and more easily in homogeneous groups - meaning, in a group consisting of females only - than in a mixed group, in which, due to physical strength, the boys are riding their first waves sooner.
Participants' physical and mental conditions are more alike and it is easier to empower each other. The self-imposed pressure to perform is considerably less, which increases learning success, and consequently surfing becomes more fun. This surf and yoga program runs from Monday to Friday with arrival and departure days being Saturday or Sunday.
Surf
You will have 14 hours of theory and practice, including video correction. Surf material is always included and available for you to use outside of course hours as well. The hours depend on conditions, tides, and weather. WaveSisters also drives to other beaches, if needed, making sure that you are always in the best place at the best time.
This makes WaveSisters unique in this service. It also increases learning conditions considerably. This is only possible thanks to the small group size. That is why there is no fixed time schedule. WaveSisters will come up with a rough timeline at the beginning of the week, which may change.
Yoga
Yoga classes take place three times a week for one and a half hours with the schedule depending on the time of the surf course. The classes will be conducted outside. The type of yoga offered is designed for surfers making it a perfect balancing activity. It doesn’t matter if you have never done yoga before or if you practice regularly.
Levels
WaveSisters instructs all levels. Absolute beginners start at zero and WaveSisters will build up their surfing skills slowly and continuously from there. For all others, WaveSisters will assess your skills at the beginning of the week, checking where you are at and continuing individually from there, in regards to what you want to achieve and what is up next.
How to prepare
Everything that gets you moving, that you enjoy, contributes to your surfing fitness. If you feel like it, go swimming, or work out your triceps, shoulders, and your upper body strength in general. But if you do not enjoy it and you might give it up straight away, you are better off playing sports that you enjoy and keep doing, even if it does not fit surfing ideally.
