During this vacation, you'll be staying in an ocean-view accommodation (single, double, or triple room) at Vista Guapa's surf camp.

During this vacation, you can choose 5 sessions of surf, SUP, or SUP yoga lessons.

Surf lessons

Vista Guapa offers instruction to surfers of all experience levels and ages, from first time beginners to coaching for surfers who are preparing to compete. They make sure to provide personalized attention to all students, therefore they keep a ratio of 2 students per instructor in groups with a maximum of 3 people in certain occasions.

The only prerequisites for surfing lessons are the ability to swim and a positive attitude. The instructors are in the water with the students, helping them to select and catch waves as well as providing constant feedback to the students. Except when conditions are rough or with younger or more timid first-time surfers, students will paddle out past the breakline, rather than just surf the white water nearer to the shore.

SUP lessons

With top-notch equipment, you’ll learn this awesome sport and enjoy the water in some of the most beautiful locations in the country. Couple times a year, Visa Guapa offers SUP camps with experts to help you improve your SUP skills and add a new dimension to your enjoyment of the ocean.

Stand Up Paddle or SUP is a discipline derived from the surf culture of Hawaii using a paddle which you can practice in both small and big waves, as well as calm waters such as lakes and rivers.

Yoga lessons

Yoga retreats in Costa Rica have become quite popular. Vista Guapa combines the wondrous beauty of Costa Rica with the calm serenity of the art of yoga. The surf camp offers two beautiful yoga decks for practicing yoga individually or as a group: one with views overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounding area, and the other near the pool. The decks have lights in the evening and generally have a nice breeze throughout the day.

  • Dennis Picado

Dennis’ hobbies other than surfing are skate and SUP surfing. His favorite foods are fish, Casado Típico, and the chicken wings at Surf Dogs. What he loves about teaching is to see the happiness on people’s face when they ride their first wave! He’s currently finishing high school and looking to pursue Business Administration in college. He’s actively competing on national surf contests and training hard to be selected for international competitions as well.

  • David Solano

David Solano has been competing since 2004 at the Costa Rica Open Nationals, ranking at the top 20 where he gained a vast experience. He's now focused on the National’s Masters division competitions, ranking at the top 10 spots and getting closer to achieve his goals.

Vista Guapa is located in Playa Jaco. Lessons are generally taught on Jaco Beach, which is approximately 4 kilometers long with moderately good waves. Surf lessons are generally held when the tide is coming in, and therefore timing of the lessons varies day to day.

Nearby Playa Hermosa offers multiple breaks (Roca Loca, El Gato, El Peladero, Los Almendros, La Chanchera, La Curva also called “Corners” and Tulin) and is where Vista Guapa generally takes their more experienced guests.

"The camp is set a few minutes drive from the beach in Jaco. The staff and management could not be more welcoming and helpful if they tried! The accommodation is set on the hill which offered fantastic views over Jaco and the sunset. Although the accommodation is basic, it was clean offered everything that I needed. If I visit Jaco again, I will definitely look to stay there again."

"Had a fantastic time here and hope to return. Everyone that works here is nice, helpful, and chill. Expect an easy hassle free experience. Accommodations are nice with amazing views, beautiful grounds, and comfortable bedding, and good air conditioning. Breakfast is definitely great. Had a couples massage sent right up to our cabin, so there is more on offer than just the great surfing."

"This camp is the bee's knees. They provide a wonderful and relaxing environment. The surf instructors are geared to your ability and they do a phenomenal job at pushing you to become better each day. They are always making sure that you have to what you need and then some. Alvaro and David made sure that each and every lesson I picked up a new skill. When I wanted to buy a board, they made sure that I went to the right place and got the right board for my skill level. I felt that I was in great hands! My friend and I had a chance to unplug from the world and connect with ourselves. Everyone at the camp takes pride in what they do and it shows! I highly recommend this place over and over again. P.S.: Never miss the breakfasts! They are yummy... and the oatmeal is the hidden gem on the menu... I kid you not!"

"This was the greatest adventure trip ever! Vista Guapa surf camp is a part of me now and I will be back. The moment I arrived, Wendy greeted me with a hug and welcomed me into the surf family. Camp is nestled up on a mountain providing amazing sunset / sunrise views with comfortable accommodations. Breakfast prepared by the staff was made from freshly picked local produce and cooked to order (my favorite meal of the trip). Location was close to the beach and shopping, only a 3 USD cab ride from the camp. Edwin, our driver, was the best, he taught me about the country, the town, the culture and corrected my Spanish (in a positive way). I’m a beginner surfer but the instructors: Alvaro, David, Daniela, and Titi helped me with my technique which brought my confidence up and anxiety down. By the end of the week, I was catching the waves on my own. I highly recommend this surf camp and can’t wait to return. Pura Vida!"

"Having loved our first visit to Vista Guapa last year, we decided to go back there again for our annual vacation. The personal attention during surf lessons and the feedback provided help you get better each day. The camp has a relaxed atmosphere, very clean, and you begin to feel like you are at home. All of the staff and instructors are helpful and the breakfast is delicious. Everyone associated with Vista Guapa are easy going, friendly, and helpful - from the people making the reservations, the drivers to and from the airport, staff and instructors. We will definitely be going back!"
