The inspiration for this one-of-a-kind apartment came from the original Portuguese name of the land, ’Moinho das Canas’, which, freely translated, means cane mill. As the name suggests, a lot of cane grows here and Vida Pura used this material to decorate this apartment. The use of other natural building materials, such as cork, wood, and stone, gives the apartment a truly harmonious feel.

The open-plan living room and kitchen area with also boast many natural elements, such as cork, stone, and wood.
As the name suggests, the recycle art apartment has been decorated and furnished with recycled and re-used materials that have been designed into the apartment in an artful way. The design of this wonderfully unique living space brings together a wealth of surprising materials.
The bedroom design incorporates a chestnut wooden bed mixed with 18th century carved posts from India. The bathroom has a sink made from an old wine press and the floor is made of slices of pine wood mixed with reused wine bottle tops. The living tops it off with the sofa made out of recycled jeans and in the kitchen, a surfboard acts as one of the kitchen shelves.

This retreat is located in the middle of a reserve close to the town of Odeceixe and its marvelous beach. During the day and especially at night, it is so quiet so you can hear a pin drop. The nocturnal animals sing their songs and the stream that divides the Algarve and the Alentejo trickles endlessly over the land. You can take great hikes by the river stream and up or down the valley.
The Odeceixe beach is the first prize-winning beach in the huge natural park that surrounds it. The beach is great for surfing, body boarding, and sunbathing. At the riverside, the ocean’s waves are canceled out and harness great opportunity for families with smaller kids.
If you want some more movement but not too much, you can take a bike, walk, or drive to Odeceixe, a little sleepy town but vibrant in summer. Around the area, traditionalism is very tangible and agriculture and fishery are one of the main activities. It is an area where you can still find donkeys ploughing the fields and the fish is served straight from the boat onto your plate.
