In order to personalize your coaching, correct your mistakes, and improve your surfing, instructors are developing instruction video feedback classes, an individual mental coaching. A professional photo videographer will shoot you during your surf session and at the evening time, you will analyze your surf technique of the day with the surf coach. A theory / technical class will be given. This method is based on the sports science. Please remember that surfing is a very complete sport. It requires swimming skills, sense of balance, decision making, and constant muscle interactions. This surf camp includes one training session. Vakaru Surf school organizes surf fitness (1 hour / 1 hour 30 minutes) conducted by professional for the surfers or simply people who want to improve their physical conditions. Surfing is both one of the most enjoyable and physically demanding sports in the world. It requires a wide range of physical qualities in order to paddle out, catch a wave, balance on a surfboard, and lay some big hacking turns and aerial moves. Quality surf training will help you perform better in the water, catch more waves and enjoy a fun surf session. Surf fitness is going to help keep you injury-free too. If you don’t surf, you can still join the program, to keep your shape, improve your physical conditions. Work hard and have fun at the same time!
This surf camp included two yoga sessions. The benefits of yoga include endurance, strength, and flexibility. Additionally, mental focus and breathing techniques are strengthened through consistent practice.
Thulusdhoo island is located just 28 kilometers north of Male, Maldives. It is the capital of Kaafu Atoll. Approximately 1,400 people live on the island. The size of Thulusdhoo is 700 and 400 meters (according to Google Maps). After the devastating tsunami that happened in 2004 on Rinbodhoo island, more than a half of the population had to move to Thulusdhoo, so the population of Thulusdhoo grew. It is a paradisiac island with pristine white sand beaches and turquoise lagoon where surfers can ride very good quality waves such as Cokes and Chicken surf breaks. The island also has beautiful gold sand beaches such as Bikini Beach where tourists are most welcomed in a blue, clear water lagoon.
Maldives is one of the world’s most famous holiday destinations. It’s known for the natural beauty of its islands which are nearly all lined with white and golden sand and crystal clear turquoise sea, pristine beaches. Maldives consists of 1,192 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls, along the north-south direction, spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometers, making this one of the world’s most dispersed countries
With this large number of islands and reefs, Maldives are starting to be world known as a really good place for surfing spots for intermediate and experienced surfers, with consistent waves and long surfing season. Even though the waves are not the most powerful or biggest in the world, but you can get a lot of fun surfing in this amazing destination.
The waves are not massive and they are quite easy and fun. The swell is very consistent. Many breaks have reliable barrels and most of them have long beautiful waves you can ride until your heart’s content. A flat day is quite rare. You’re pretty much guaranteed somewhere to surf on the islands every day throughout the surf season.
There is a huge number of surf spots in Maldives so most of the best breaks on the islands are often uncrowded but this tendency is starting to change. However, only a handful of breaks are easily accessible from the resorts and these can get a little crowded. The best surf on the islands requires a short journey away from the resorts, but it’s more than worth the effort.
The surf spots in the Maldives can be separated into three main areas. Each one of the areas is an individual atoll and they all have their own character: Male atolls, central atolls, and south atoll. You will be focused on North Male Atoll where Vakaru Surf is located.
Only breakfasts and one meal of your choice (lunch or dinner) are included in the price. The meals (except breakfast) will be served at Vakaru Surf Café. All the international flights arrive at Velana International Airport (MLE) which is on an island of its own. Many holiday makers arrive on chartered flights, but there are other scheduled services with Emirates, Qatar, Air Sri Lanka, and Air India.
Fast and efficient, these high-powered vessels (speed boats) can deliver you from the airport to Thulusdoo in just 25 minutes. “Speedboat ferries” now operate several times per day to the island at a set schedule and private speedboats can be organized for anytime night or day.

Exceptionally affordable, the Thulusdoo ferry will get you from the island capital of Male to Thulusdoo island in 85 minutes for just 3 USD. A small additional fee applies for large baggage but either way, this is top value.
The ferry moves at a respectable 13 knots and features very comfortable padded seats, a toilet, helpful staff, and an upstairs open air area where you can stretch out and have a sleep or watch the scenery pass by. Kept meticulously clean by the staff, the ferry is non-smoking and generally very comfortable.
The express trip departs Male at 3.30 p.m. sharp on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Fridays, the ferry departs Male at 10.30 p.m. On Tuesdays, there is a ferry that stops at several islands including Thulusdhoo, that departs Male at 2.30 p.m., departing from the ‘Villigili’ ferry terminal.
