Get out of the rat race and come back to life! With empty waves just outside your fale and a private piece of Eden surrounding your companion or family, it’s not hard to see how time forgot about Aganoa and how easy it is to forget about time. Coupled with Samoa’s beautiful Polynesian culture and people, you may never want to return home.
You will stay at Aganoa Lodge. The lodge has 8 open air, fan cooled bungalows (fales) with en suite bathrooms and a beach house with detached bathroom facilities across the property and along the beach. The lodge is capable of accommodating up to 20 guests in a variety of group formats. Spacious private decks and common areas are surrounded by manicured lawns and a tropical lagoon, where all of the lodge’s equipment is on standby for guest use.
All rooms have ocean views with king size or queen size beds, multiple hi-speed fans and en suite facilities, with 24/7 Wi-Fi (at an additional cost). Some of the rooms also have a space for extra twin beds for families. The rooms are serviced twice daily with complimentary laundry service. The main lodge area or the common area includes a bar, a dining room, a lounge area, as well as a large deck area with ample seating. The building sits on the far right-hand side of the beach and is perched on a lava bed directly in front of Aganoa Right, the highly consistent “house wave”.
On this surf camp, you will enjoy daily surf trips with experienced surf guides. You will also enjoy fishing and snorkeling.
You will enjoy daily excursions to waterfalls, blowholes, and other eco-excursions.
This retreat will take place in Aganoa, Samoa. Aganoa is a place where the time stops, where the crowds haven’t yet reached, where the guidebooks haven’t ruined, and where local children splash and play in a pristine lagoon lapping at golden sands just inside of an empty funneling righthander. Located on the lesser-known island of Savaii, with a short ferry ride from Upolu, Western Samoa, Aganoa is a lost corner of the earth called Aganoa. The consistent world-class reef break peels into a channel just 50 yards in front of a restaurant perched at the sea. A gentle idyllic lagoon lined with a picture-perfect beach hugs the verdant manicured grounds in seemingly endless and fragrant bloom.
Your place of stay, Aganoa Lodge, is situated lagoon-side in a protected pocket at the edge of a rain forest preserve. It is located on a five-acre parcel with an exclusive access to an 180-meter white sand beach. The beach is protected by a barrier reef making it ideally suited for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Access to the property is only possible via a gated entrance and a mile-long single lane lava track. The lodge is comprised of a newly constructed common area featuring a restaurant, bar, and a large private deck perched at the water’s edge and directly in front of Aganoa Right, with highly consistent waves (more than 240 days of rideable surf per year) to which guests enjoy exclusive access.
Aganoa Right is a supremely consistent wave, which breaks right out the front of the lodge. This wave can handle anything from 2 foot to 10 foot. The wedging peaks offer super fun wackable walls, as well as trip making tube sections.
Just across from the right, you will also find the left. What the left does is more dependent on swell direction, but can offer an epic barrel section. The beauty of these two waves is they are right out the front, so you can pick the absolute best conditions.
Located 30 minutes from Aganoa is Samoa’s version of the famed G-Land. The resemblance is often uncanny, and between 4 and 12 foot, the waves can be a dream. Hollow barrels and long rippable walls await you.
This is a sick little peak that breaks just over from K-Land. It’s a really fun time out here, and with just your mates with you, you’ll be hooting and throwing out high fives all day long. Just across the channel, a super fun little right-hander is also available.
Pastor Point is a softer, long right hander, and suitable for any skill level. It is perfect if you want to have a chilled session, or want to take a beginner out to have a go.
There are a bunch of secret spots around this area, that the lodge still want to keep a secret. There are many waves mainly accessible by boat and are not visible from shore. There are also waves which require a bit of a drive. The guides will take you to these waves, but don’t be offended if they offer you a blind fold to wear for the journey. Secrecy is taken seriously here.
Aganoa Lodge takes the hassle out of the meal time for you, offering a delicious set menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With a fantastic mix of local Samoan dishes and Western dishes, they ensure nobody goes hungry. A feature of the menu is the array of fresh fish caught in the local waters and fresh vegetables grown on site or sourced from local villages. The bar is always stocked with soft drinks, bottled water, New Zealand wines, and local beers.
You will need to organize your airfare to Faleolo International Airport (APW), the main airport on the Island of Upolu. From there, a representative from Aganoa lodge will assist you with your transfer to the harbor and boarding the ferry to Savai’i. They will then transfer you to Aganoa Lodge for your stay. All transfers are included in the price.
