Join Tropical Peak on the magical “Island of the Gods” in Bali, Indonesia for an adventurous and invigorating surf and yoga retreat. You will get to experience some of the best waves Bali has to offer, relax by the poolside, and indulge in fresh and healthy cuisine along with local favorite “warungs” (Indonesian cafes). Tune into your body with yoga and unwind in our luxurious atmosphere.
The accommodations are luxury villas with air conditioned, private rooms and en suite bathrooms. Three different packages are offered: single occupancy in a private room with a king size bed, double occupancy with king size bed (for couples), or a shared room with an en suite bathroom (two single beds). A swimming pool is central to each of the rooms and the common living area and lounge.
Bali is famous for the seemingly endless coastlines of perfectly formed, long-peeling waves. From beach breaks to reefs, river mouths, and rock bottom, the island offers many kinds of waves for all levels.
Your guide will check the swell reports each night and depending on the size of the swell, the wind, the tides, and your ability level, provide options to score the best waves for the coming day. The private driver with an air conditioned and comfortable van will be ready each morning to take you as close or as far as the group is willing to travel.
Surf and yoga go together like a curtain and sunlight, a towel on a wet body, or as much as water and humanity. Not only does yoga help strengthen muscles for surfing, improve flexibility for maneuvers and to handle those inevitable wipeouts with ease, the focus it takes to hold asanas, meditate, and overcome mental obstacles can be taken directly into the water and used just as well in the line-up.
The certified yoga teacher caters each class to the demands of a surfer’s body along with the energy of the group each afternoon. You may want to do a Power Vinyasa to strengthen your body and mind for the following day’s surf, or perhaps do a Yin flow to stretch out those muscles after a long day in the water. All classes include asanas, breath work, and meditation.
There will be a surf guide to suggest the best spots and times to surf every morning and the hosts will guide you in making a schedule, but this is your retreat and what you and the group decide on will always be catered to. The cultural activities for the day will depend on the surf spot.
The waves, the lush and beautiful landscapes, and food are some of the things that make Bali amazing; however, the culture is where the magic lies. With 90% Hindus making up the island, the Balinese are very spiritual, lying out “offerings” each morning to the Gods and conducting ceremonies as often as the cows come home. They believe heavily in Karma and are some of the friendliest, happiest, and kind people you can encounter in your travels. It’s easy to have one good day after the other here when you’re surrounded by smiling faces.
Visiting a Balinese Temple is a must-do activity over one afternoon. On top of that, there are options to shop for local handicrafts and fine-tune your bargaining skills, visit one of the most popular traditional spice markets in the city center, Denpasar, or even just enjoy a sunset at the beach where you’ll find food carts, great reggae music, and the local brew, Bintang.
The retreat is based around the Berawa, Canggu area, which is north of Kuta and Seminyak. Rice fields break up views of local Indonesian neighborhoods and houses, with cow fields still maintaining beach-front property. Black sand beaches and tall palm trees line the shores of beach breaks and rock and reef breaks. It is becoming quite the bustling area with locals, travelers, and expats. There is no shortage of things to do, places to go, or interesting people to watch.
The retreat includes healthy and freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the villa to ensure you’re at peak energy levels and making the most out of your holiday in Bali. The food is Indonesian and Asian-inspired with a Western twist to include fresh greens.
Simple guidelines are followed in the menu: use fresh ingredients, keep processed food to a minimum, and provide balance in each meal with the colors of the rainbow. Freshly baked bread, an array of fruits of vegetables, brown rice, ikan bakar (grilled fish), green bean salad, and gado-gado (vegetables with peanut sauce) are only some of the food and flavors you will taste during the retreat.
Along with healthy eating, you will also experience the amazing and unique local cuisine. You will go out to lunch on a couple of days throughout the week to some of the best local warungs, and for one nice dinner out in the town to wrap up the retreat.
An optional appointment with a masseuse can be booked at any time to come to your private room or set up in the natural surroundings outside.
Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), also known as Denpasar International Airport. Transfer from the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport. They will have a driver meet you at the airport with your name on a sign, so there's no need to worry about getting to the venue.Tropical Peak can also help organize a taxi or transfer to the airport at the end of the retreat.
