Los Colibris Casitas was made for nature lovers seeking beauty and tranquility. Todo Santos Eco Adventures (TOSEA) offers the services and amenities of a boutique hotel, combined with the privacy and comfort of a vacation rental. Each of the casas and casitas has magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, a freshwater estuary, a palm grove oasis to the front, and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains to the side and back.

From your casa, you can watch the fishermen cast their nets on the beach in the early morning light, wait for the green flash of a magnificent Baja sunset in the late afternoon, and enjoy the vast expanse of a star-filled sky at night. Los Colibris is just a 10-minute walk to 70 miles of pristine, virtually empty beach, and a five-minute drive to the delightful restaurants, artists’ galleries, and shops of Todos Santos.

The Babisuri Suites are in a beautiful, spacious dwelling with rammed earth walls, a cactus rooftop garden, magnificent views, high ceilings, a large terrace, and wheelchair accessibility. The Babisuri Suites each have a separate entrance, and the suites can be rented together or individually. The center suite has a full kitchen with a dining area, two king beds, and a large bathroom with a roll-in shower. The other two suites each have a sitting area, sleeping area, and large bathroom with a roll-in shower.

The sleeping area can be configured with one king bed or two twin beds, and the sitting area can be configured with a couch or a twin bed. Bedroom amenities include an air conditioner, ceiling fans (rooms naturally cooled by rammed earth walls and garden roof), small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, USB charging port, beach towels, beach umbrella, safe, free wifi, hair dryer, soap, and shampoo. The pool, hot tub and Iker's Colibris Cafe are all easily accessible from the Babisuri suites.

Program

Todo Santos Eco Adventures (TOSEA) has put together a wonderful week that features surf lessons and practice each morning, a fun or indulgent activity each afternoon, and a fabulous dining experience each evening.

Daily itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Baja California Sur! Today you will arrive at the airport in San Jose del Cabo where you will be met by your guide and transferred to Todos Santos and Los Colibris Casitas, about a 90-minute drive. Upon arrival, they will get you settled into your lovely rooms with beautiful ocean views, then you will have a welcome gourmet taco dinner at Iker's Colibris Cafe on the grounds of Los Colibris. During dinner, your guide will host a trip briefing, outlining the adventures to come. Overnight at Los Colibris Casitas with an ocean lullaby.

Day 2

We'll start off this great vacation with some early morning yoga at one of the many great yoga spots Los Colibris with  views of the Pacific Ocean, the freshwater lagoon and the palm oasis. Afterwards we'll have a terrific Mexican breakfast then head to Los Cerritos, one of the best surf breaks in the Baja peninsula. With a smooth sandy bottom, small waves that break close to shore, and crystal clear waters, Los Cerritos is   a wonderful place to learn to surf and/or improve your skills. Our instructors guarantee that you’ll ride the waves - at least for a moment – during your very first lesson!

In the afternoon, you will head out for a horseback ride through the palms and along the beach. Baja California Sur is built on ranchero culture, and horseback riding in and around Todos Santos is a great way to get a taste of that traditional life, and also to explore the area's beautiful ecosystems and wildlife habitats. Guides are not only experienced riders but also avid birders and naturalists who enjoy sharing their local knowledge. This evening you will enjoy dinner at another of the town's great restaurants.

Day 3

We'll greet the day with another yoga session on the Los Colibris Yoga Sky Deck, then it will be back to Los Cerritos, where we'll continue improving our skills and gaining more confidence on the waves. We'll have lunch at a terrific local joint, then head back to Los Colibris for the first of two Magnificent Massages with our Marvelous Mexican Masseuses. An hour of absolute bliss! Tonight Chef Eleazar will spoil you with a fabulous dinner right at Los Colibris!

Day 4

Today we take a break from surfing for a truly incredible experience, snorkeling and playing with the sea lion pups at the permanent sea lion colony of Los Islotes. These fun-loving marine mammals love playing and interacting with humans, and are always disappointed that we can never keep up a game of tag as long as they can. Getting to the sea lion colony is half the fun, as we regularly see dolphins, whales, mantas, sea turtles, coastal birds and more on the way there and back.

We cap off this wonderful day with a delicious picnic lunch at one of the gorgeous beaches on the incomparable Isla Espiritu Santo. It’s an absolutely fabulous day! 90 minute drive to/from La Paz. This evening we'll grab some pizzas on our way back to Los Colibris and enjoy some pizza and libations around the pool.

Day 5

Today, you will continue with your yoga and surfing routine, but today at the beach, you will really start focusing on learning to read the waves, getting the rhythm of how you can catch them yourself without instructor assistance. You should start seeing a good increase in your skill level today. You will have lunch terrific lunch at a local restaurant, then enjoy a historical town tour of Todos Santos. Todos Santos has a rich and varied history, from the early missionaries, through the booming sugar years, through its current incarnation as an artists’ colony, agricultural center, and surfing hotspot.

Todos Santos has a well-deserved reputation as a food lover’s paradise, so after the town tour we'll stay in town to indulge in Baja California Sur’s greatest contribution to world cuisine: the fish taco! During this epic taco crawl we'll check out a few local joints to sample not only fish tacos, but other types of tacos drawing on the area’s bounties of land and sea. You might find several different types of ceviche out there too!

Day 6

You will have one last great yoga session on the Los Colibris Yoga Sky Deck, and then it is out to conquer your final waves. Today the instructors will focus on getting you to some bigger waves than you have tried the rest of the week, stretching your comfort zone just a little bit more. You will be a bonafide Baja surfer by the end of the session.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy one final magnificent massage with your marvelous Mexican masseuse. Is there such a thing as too many massages on vacation? Absolutely not! Tonight we'll cap off this wonderful week with a Mexican Survival Cooking Class lead by local lawyer turned chef Iker Algorri, author of Cooking Adventures in Baja California Sur and chef-in-residence at Los Colibris Casitas. The emphasis is on having as much fun as humanly possible, learning to make the perfect margarita, and gaining the skill to make some truly memorable Mexican dishes following Chef Iker’s cooking philosophy, the Magnificence of Simplicity. You’ll also probably learn about some great Latin music you’ve never heard before. But be warned – dancing often known to follow!

Day 7

Say adios, but not goodbye. Transfer to the airport.

Location

This surf camp will take place in Todos Santos, Baja California Peninsula, Mexico. About 50 miles north of Cabo on the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula is a pueblo magico called Todos Santos - All Saints. And truly, the handiwork of all the saints seems to be reflected everywhere in your hometown. It is easy to imagine that St. Anthony (San Antonio), the Patron Saint of the Desert, had his hand in the underground springs that make the town a true desert oasis, thick with palms, lush with lagoons, and filled with the birds they attract.

St. Francis (San Francisco), Patron Saint of the Environment, seems like a sure bet for the town’s seemingly endless miles of pristine beach - home to five of the seven turtle species found in the world, host to surfing breaks that make the town one of the best surfing destinations on the Cape, and favored people watching a spot of gray whales on their annual trip to Baja because they can get so close to shore.

St. Isidore (San Isidro), Patron Saint of Agriculture, almost certainly got in on the act with the vast orchards of mango trees and fields filled with strawberries, chilies, and herbs, while St. Peter (San Pedro), Patron Saint of Fishermen, could easily be the wily soul who ensured no natural harbor in the town to keep the waters from being overfished and therefore full of bounty for the intrepid local fishermen, masters of the surf launch and landing. But perhaps the saint who most shaped the town with his piece of manna was St. Aaron (San Aron), the Patron Saint of anyone who lives a passionate life.

Todos Santos may be a tiny town but it is filled with Mexican and expatriate artists, chefs, musicians, fishermen, photographers, philanthropists, surfers, sculptors, farmers, film-makers, potters, spiritualists, naturalists, adventurers, entrepreneurs, explorers, yogis and more, all pursuing their passions in this paradise that draws, inspires and drives them. The result is one heckuva place to indulge your passions for travel and adventure so grab your St. Christopher (the Patron Saint of Travelers) and head to Todos Santos.
