Surf the idyllic waves of Portugal’s South and West Algarve coastlines, practice yoga in the secluded garden, and relax in the harmonious environment of the Tiny Whale Surf Lodge. You can expect high quality surf coaching in small groups of no more than three guests to one instructor. And, through a tailored coaching programme that includes surf theory, video analysis, pool technique lessons and surf-skate sessions, you're guaranteed to improve your surf and learn the skills to continue to teach yourself after the trip.
Something Tiny Whale Surf's long list of happy returning customers can vouch for is their mission to have you feeling at home and as comfortable as possible during your stay. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, family, or with a group of friends Tiny Whale Surf has plenty of options to suit.
All Tiny Whale Surf's room options, which include shared, private and private ensuite all come with everything you’ll need to be comfortable during your stay. All options include fresh linen and towels along with a few finishing touches like cozy blankets, extra cushions and candles for that homely feel.
The lodge is set in a peaceful rural setting. Its large gardens offer an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, secluded yoga space, dining area, table tennis table, bar and lounge area with fire pit. The right hand border of the garden is home to the board & wetsuit shack as well as the lodge chickens, a firm favourite of pretty much every Tiny Whale guest!
You'll get unmatched surf coaching tailored to your individual needs from an ISA Level Two qualified instructor in small groups of no more than three people. This allows your coach to give you a personal plan, carefully analyse your lessons, and track your surfing as you progress.
If this will be your first time surfing, Level 1 is right for you. The highly experienced team will guide you through the first stages, getting you standing on the board and teaching you vital information about handling yourself in the water. They aim to get you to beaches with small, manageable waves, gradually building your confidence through the week.
So, you’ve surfed a few times before and definitely have the basics down. Now you want to improve your pop up and get into the green waves. Level 2 provides the coaching you need to get ‘out back’. You’ll learn essential surf etiquette and advice for safety in the water, all the while honing your skills towards an intermediate level.
Charge up with a nutritious breakfast before joining your instructor for the morning surf briefing. Equipment will be ready, boards and lunch packed. Just grab a wetsuit, some sunscreen, and head to the waves! Your instructors will take you to the best beach on that day, depending on your level, the weather, and swell conditions. Each surf day includes two lessons with a break in between for lunch.
Next, head back to the peaceful surf lodge for the video coaching and well-deserved relaxation time. Enjoy an aperitif and local produce cooked up by the in-house chef, and discuss the success and adventures of the day around the fire whilst getting to know other people at the lodge.
The lodge is situated in a unique peaceful countryside setting near Lagos town, Portugal. The Algarve is slowly being recognized as one of the world's top five SUP destinations. Boasting two unbeatable coastlines, plus a variety of lakes, rivers, and lagoons, there's something to please everyone. Jaw dropping flat water paddling locations, perfect teaching conditions, and world-class surf make this an unforgettable spot.
Bursting with the sunshine and known for its laid-back lifestyle, the Western Algarve is the perfect holiday destination to unwind and recharge with some deserved rest and recuperation. Whether you achieve this by exploring the fantastic culture and unspoiled countryside, chilling out and catching some waves at some of Europe's most stunning beaches, or want to find adventure taking part in the endless outdoor activities on offer, the choice is yours.
Well away from the mainstream Eastern Algarve international tour operators, the West has largely stayed underdeveloped and still retains its natural charm. Traveling just half an hour from either the South or West coast up through the countryside to the Monchique mountain at 1000 meters, the whole area is speckled with small villages and towns with one foot in the past.
