Beautiful people, environment and food. A sweet spot for relaxation and yoga in the Caribbean with magical beach, small tours and local shops nearby. Staff is knowledgable and helpful. Yoga instructors included! The handcrafted bungalows are lovely, with an equally comfy bed and pillows. I did a 8 day detox retreat package...which included two massages, and the use of their sauna during the week. All pleasant and enjoyable! Loved all of the sounds of the forest at night & throughout the day.

"Beautiful location, awesome staff"
Callie was very accommodating and provided an awesome experience for my husband and I. The yoga was challenging and skillfully taught. Kudos also to Tes and Sara who taught very positive yoga practices.
Food was well prepared and healthy. All staff were friendly and diligent in making our experience at Tierra de Suenos a very positive one.
The facilities were very clean and definitely gave us a 'jungle vibe'. We were also fortunate enough to see sloths near the dining area and right outside of our cottage.

"Best vacation ever, hands down."
Pinch me. This experience was everything I was hoping for and more. I really needed to slow down let some big life changes sink in and I wanted to be somewhere where I wouldn't have to worry about finding really clean, healthy food and activities that were just as nourishing.
The yoga was a perfect blend of physically, mentally and spiritually expanding work. The food was AMAZING. I'm a gluten-free vegan and they pretty much nailed every dish. Perfection. The bungalows were very clean and comfortable—I felt at once one with nature but also luxuriously sheltered.
I loved our little beach, Playa Chiquita for feeling like such a private little nook nestled between high traffic, popular areas. Our hosts Callie and Jason and all of the staff members were not only kind and polite but so fun to chat with and be around. This getaway was everything my soul needed. I plan on visiting as often as possible! Actually, can I just live there??! One thing I will say is that one week is just not enough.

"Fancy pants and jungle meet for a perfect week"
Tierra de Sueños was BEAUTIFUL. It is in a lush jungle (I had a sloth right outside my door) and the beach is a stone throw away. The staff and owners made everyone feel welcome and created a community atmosphere. I was traveling alone and could meld in and out of social and alone time. All of the yoga instructors were brilliant, effortlessly leading all levels simultaneously. I think I got healthier just looking at the food...delicious and every bit of it natural and made from scratch!

"A little slice of paradise"
As soon as I arrived at Tierra de Suenos I knew I had made a great decision, the place is absolutely beautiful. I soon met one of the owners, Callie, and she made me feel so welcome with her kind smile, she's very sweet. The food was nothing short of amazing, so fresh, and I never knew eating so healthy could taste so delicious. The yoga classes were an absolute treat, there was a variety of instructors throughout my stay and each one of them challenged me in different ways, and offered me new learning experiences.
I was a little nervous leaving for this trip, I'd never traveled alone before. I soon realized there was absolutely no reason to worry, as there was some truly great people staying there with me. Eating meals and attending classes together really made us feel quite close and I always had someone I could go on an adventure with.
The lodge is a really quick walk to Playa Chiquita beach, it was my morning ritual to go for a swim after morning yoga. The beach is really nice, the water is really refreshing, and the path leading to the beach is also really beautiful, it's the perfect way to start the day.
Overall, this vacation was unlike anything I could have imagined, and I'm so grateful for the wonderful experience.

"Beautiful retreat in the jungle "
Jason and Callie and their staff provide a lovely escape from reality in their yoga retreat. The accommodations are lovely, and located a short walk from beautiful beaches. The food is prepared with thought and care and they were incredibly careful with my many food allergies. Their staff, comprised of many volunteers as well as paid employees, are hospitable, friendly, and eager to do anything their guests need. The massages they set up for us on our balconies were by well trained professionals. The yoga deck was beautiful and serene and the sauna a bonus.
If someone wanted to come and only eat, sleep, go to the beach, and do yoga- this would be a perfect spot to do it!
The ability to sign up for various other activities was an added plus for me. Though I wasn’t interested in the traditional zip lining and other tourist friendly activities, Jason arranged a variety of things for me within my specific interests. I was able to go on jungle walks, bird watching and kayaking in a lagoon with a private guide- though the planned trip to Panama to see manatees was unfortunately cancelled due to environmental research. All of these trips were carefully arranged (with some prodding by me) and were not at all touristy and therefore awesome! He also arranged for me to see a local shaman, which was certainly illuminating and 100% accurate in diagnosis- though prohibitively expensive for treatment.
I have many more positive notes but no more space allowed to write!

"Perfect Rest, Detox and Yoga Retreat"
I enjoyed the daily 9am yoga practices, infrared saunas and happening upon monkeys, sloths and colourful butterflies. From swimming at the beach and below jungle waterfall to touring a local chocolate farm and enjoying healthy juices and delicious vegan and raw meals, my week was the perfect combination of rest, detox and yoga.
We where hesitant on what to do with our 11 days in Costa Rica and finally we decided to stay in this place only :). Thanks god! No cars, no buses etc, just bikes and joy!!! The bungalow was beautiful, clean, comfortable! It was magical to wake up with the sound of the birds, monkeys etc
We were afraid we would found bugs in the room but not at all! It's has been amazing
We found a magic place in which every member of the staff is a special person that makes TdS such an special and magical place. You really get the chance to connect with nature and it's only 8' away to the beautiful beach (walking distance)
The food is so fresh and organic that you heal yourself in record time.
We will definitely come back again, and if you are planning to go, make sure you leave everything in the hands of Dr. Greg!

It's easy to miss the entrance to TDS, since the sign is on the gate facing the road. But if you've reached Shawanda Lodge, you've gone too far. It was a bit tricky making a direct booking, but ultimately cheaper than going through booking.com. We had an enjoyable time, going down to the beach and soaking up the sand and beautifully warm sea. Not many people around at the end of September. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our cabin. The balcony with hammock really made it; there's not enough space in the bedroom to sit down. There's an overhead fan and a free-standing one (which didn't work) and it wasn't as warm as we expected in the evening. Get used to the howler monkeys and noise of the rain - this is Costa Rica after all! There's no need to wander far for eating, with Pucinella just across the road serving good, basic and reasonably priced Italian fare. There's a supermarket a few hundred metres away where you can get stuff for breakfast and lunch. TDS breakfast is wholesome but over-priced at $10. And remember this is a vegan hotel! You're not supposed to drink alcohol in your room (yes, matron) though no one reprimanded us for the empty wine bottle. As the title says, it was comfortable and convenient but nothing outstanding. Wi-fi works fine around reception. It's expensive at US$110 a night (low season), and the 5% charge for using credit cards could surely be built into the cost of the room.

We found Tierra de Suenos by a Group On offer and wow am I glad we did! While it did take a few hours to get there, it was definitely worth the trip. The property was stunning, well maintained and spotless! We loved meeting Mariela and her family when we arrived and our bungalow was gorgeous with a beautiful canopy bed and well kept bath. The sounds of the jungle were mesmerizing at night and we loved to explore the area during the day. Breakfast was exquisite being made of fruit and other local ingredients and served out on an open patio. They offered yoga daily as well as connected us with any kind of excursion we might have wanted. The area around Tierra de Suenos offered many things to see and even a very nice beach! I definitely recommend Tierra de Suenos for a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate!
