This exclusive boutique hotel features 29 spacious and attractively furnished apartments. In the center of the hotel complex, there is the reception (24 hours), SAT-TV lounge with a small library and internet cafe (free), the Rivas pool bar (24 hours) and the exclusive Rivas fine dining restaurant. The five meters deep freshwater swimming pool is centrally located in the large, lush garden. Near the pool area in the shade of the forest is the professional massage and spa area "Forest Breeze".

At the pool and in the garden chairs, sun beds, umbrellas, and beach towels are available free of charge. Right on the beach is the famous Restaurant and Beach Bar "Nomad" with a large selection of tropical cocktails, pizza, pasta, seafood, and other international specialties. For this, a variety of excellent wines and spirits is offered. Additional facilities include a diving school (PADI), a water sports center, a boutique or gift shop, and a yoga or Zumba platform.

All rooms are non-smoking rooms, equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, ceiling fan, electronic safe, minibar (extra charge), hairdryer, telephone, and free internet. In the main building, there are 10 stylish Sea Breeze rooms, all have balconies and are oriented to the seaside. Some of the Sea Breeze rooms have connecting doors.

The three Ocean View Suites are just steps from the beach. They are spacious and have a separate living room and bedroom. The suites in addition to the Standard amenities include bathrobes, slippers, bottled water (inclusive), and a terrace facing the sea.

The three Ocean View Family Suites have two bedrooms and have the same equipment as the Ocean View Suites. Each of these rooms has its own sunbeds in the private garden on the seafront.

Three spacious Ocean View Superior Suites with breathtaking views are located on the first floor, just 20 meters from the white beach. They feature a combined living room and bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower, a separate toilet, and a terrace with a hot tub.

Indirect beach proximity is 7 Beach Cottages from where guests are reaching the sea within a few steps. They are equipped as the Ocean View Suites, with sun loungers in a private garden. The Makuti (thatched) roofed beach cottages have a particularly welcoming atmosphere and provide guests with privacy.

The Superior Beach Cottage Suite is a spacious villa and promises with a private garden with outdoor shower, hot jacuzzi, and ensures complete privacy.

The villa has a loft-like living and sleeping areas, furnished with antique Swahili furniture, and a bathroom with separate toilet. A staircase leads to a gallery. The large terrace offers an unobstructed view over the tropical garden with private sunbeds and two impressive, ancient Baobab trees. The peculiarity of this unique villa is the construction of the Makuti roof from where rainwater flows into a mini garden in the center of the suite.

In the main house overlooking the pool and the sea, are the Colobus Suite and Superior Suite Nomad. Both are on the first floor and are more spacious than the Ocean View Suites and similarly equipped, but with a large terrace. The Nomad Superior suite has in the bathroom, in addition, a whirlpool.

The Sands at Nomad occupies a prime beach location directly on the beautiful 25 kilometers long sandy beach of Diani Beach amidst a lush coastal rainforest. About 45 kilometers from the airport in Mombasa and about two kilometers away to various shops in Diani. Larger towns nearby are Ukunda, with an airport for domestic flights and Msambweni.

Situated on the south coast of Kenya, The Sands at Nomad lies 45 kilometers southwest of Moi International Airport (MBA). Lying just four degrees south of the equator, The Sands at Nomad offers you a choice of worlds that no other beach destination can equal. Coral seas abundant with fish life, coastal forests teaming with bird and insect life, snow white beaches offering safe warm bathing, and of course Kenya’s world-famous safari parks. Smile, you are in Kenya!

Diani is a tropical paradise on the coast of the Kenyan safari land. Diani Beach has many of the ingredients of the perfect tropical holiday destination. Its location along a stunning white sand beach, which skirts the shore for an impressive 25 kilometers has cemented its position as one of Kenya’s premier resorts. A huge variety of activities are offered that cannot be found in any other single beach destination. Sports activities available include golf, horse riding, and tennis, as well as any watersports activity one wishes to think of. Leisure pastimes such as shopping, fine wine and dine, and guided nature walk compliment an enormous range of daily excursions and world-class defining safaris. Kenya’s premier south coast beach, Diani Beach, was graced in November 2005 with the coast’s first ‘boutique’ hotel, The Sands at Nomad.

The beach

Kenya’s beaches rank in the top ten worldwide, and Diani counts as the best that Kenya has to offer. The beach is the Diani’s major attraction, long, soft, white, and lovely, it comes close to the tropical ideal. With swaying palms and soft, white sand caressed by glittering, turquoise water, it is deservedly popular, and as one of the Indian Ocean’s premier resorts is impossible to beat just eight hours flight away from Europe.

The reef

The sea at Mombasa is as blue as a cornflower, and, outside the inlet to the harbor, the long breakers of the Indian Ocean draw a thin crooked white line, and give out a low thunder even in the calmest weather (Karen Blixen, Out of Africa).

Lapping over iridescent coral gardens, home to laughing dolphins and magnificent whale sharks, the Indian Ocean reefs are unparalleled. Boasting warm waters all year round and promising crystal-clear visibility, the Kenyan reefs offer some of the finest diving in the world. The offshore reef offers rewarding snorkeling, it also keeps waves at bay, making paddling and swimming close to shore a pleasure and providing perfect conditions for kite and windsurfing lessons.

Arguably Diani’s most elegant restaurant, with soft lighting and a traditional makuti roof built around a gently flowing fountain. Specializing in Italian cuisine this is the perfect romantic restaurant only five minutes ride up the road from The Sands at Nomad.
