During this retreat, you will stay at the surf lodge Punta de Lobos. Surf Lodge Punta de Lobos is situated on the hill above Punta de Lobos, overlooking one of the most famous and consistent surf breaks in South America. The lodge is nestled amongst thick forest, and is a perfect place to relax after a big day in the water. We have several lodges (single, double, triple and quadruple) that include breakfast and have a view of the point. Otherwise there is cabaas (bungalows) for 2 to 10 people if you're in a bigger group, or want a more self-contained experience. The cabaas have a fully equipped kitchen, wood burner, and all linen and towels that you may need. All rates include free use of the new spa, which has a hot tub, Jacuzzi, sauna, and pool.

One of the most famous and consistent waves in South America located close to our location; the lodge in Punta de Lobos at about 1.5 kilometers. As with most breaks in this area, the sand moves constantly so you'll almost never have two sessions the same. A rarity in surfing is that this break is surfable from 2 to 25 feet and bigger, but don't worry if you're not quite ready for the big stuff, most of the time it is a very friendly size and an enjoyable wave. Heading into town there are two more breaks, Infiernillo and La Puntilla. They are both world class waves when the sand is good, and are only slightly less exposed to swell than Lobos. Infiernillo is for a more advanced level, and there you'll find less people in the water too. La Puntilla can be very good, and is also very long, so be prepared for leg breaking rides when it's on.

  • Barry Teeling

Barry only started learning surfing when he was 30 years old in Sydney. He is 41 years old now and would consider himself an advanced long boarder able to side step, hang 5, but still struggling to hang 10. Surfing has brought him all over the world and one of his favourite spots is the Maldives, where the waves are so predictable, which he loves. He is now living in Cornwall and has lived in Australia from 2004 to 2012, then Hossegor, France from 2012 to 2015.

  • Suzi Allen

  • Review by Richard

"Hey I really appreciate all the stuff you guys at Perfect Wave did for us and getting us back forms the Mentawais after the tsunami. I think we forgot what you guys were doing behind the scenes for us working late, calling our fams and embassys as well as taking care of hotels, accom, transport, etc. Thanks heaps!"

  • Review by Dean from United States

"When 10 intrepid surfers, who are getting close to qualifying for their seniors cards, thought it was time to rejuvenate the soul and hit the waves the common view was to hit the Mentawis. In the quest to stay young, but being realistic enough to acknowledge that the number of cutbacks done per trip equate to what we most kids are doing on a single wave, we chose the MV Midas as our craft of choice to chase these waves. Why? Boat speed and comfort it was fast enough to explore numerous breaks when the wind, tide and the crowds became a factor and comfortable enough to savor the joy of a great days surf.Throw in the bonus that the crews are sensational, food is great, the Bintang is always icy cold, the Skipper knows where the best waves are and that everyone has a focus of making it the best trip possible then you cannot fail to have the trip of a lifetime. The MV Midas did that and more and we have already booked again for the next 2 years as we challenge the theory that it only gets better next time around. Our first trip produced great waves with great friends and watching some of the footage again the other day I couldnt help but notice the smiles all the boys had on their faces mission accomplished as we all had the grins we had as kids, the stories get better and the tube ride is still achievable. Life without the thrill of surfing pristine, challenging and perfect waves just cant be contemplated so if you feel the need for rejuvenation then I recommend you organize your own trip of a lifetime on the MV Midas and let the Perfect Wave Team, especially Rhonda, plan it for you. You wont be disappointed."
