Head to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region to discover our group surf trip in an electrically-powered van. Discover the Gironde, the Landes, and the Basque Country during an out-of-the-ordinary stay, after collecting your van 1 minute's walk from Dax station. On the program: daily surf lessons at famous spots (equipment included) and complementary activities for an extraordinary experience in a group, as close to nature as possible, while retaining your independence. Each camper van has been converted to a mini home and provides:

  • bedroom and saloon corner
  • a little kitchen with a sink
  • dry toilets
  • multiples storages
  • bedding is also provided

Program

Pick-up time

  • Day of departure: you can collect your van between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the day of departure directly from the agency
  • Day of return: you must return the van before 2 p.m. on the day of return.

Schedule

All the activities listed below remain facultative. If you feel like spending the day doing other things, you're free to do so!

Day 1 (Sunday): From Dax to Cap-Ferret (152 km)

  • Picking up your van from the office in Dax
  • Afternoon free surf session
  • Visit of Cap Ferret and the oyster-farming village of L'Herbe
  • Welcome restaurant and oyster tasting

Day 2 (Monday): From le Cap-Ferret to Biscarrosse (72 km)

  • Morning surf lesson at Cap-Ferret before hitting the road
  • Walk around the Arcachon bay
  • Walk on the Dune du Pilat
  • Skateboarding lessons at Biscarrosse' skate park
  • Wild dinner on a secret spot

Day 3 (Tuesday): From Biscarrosse to Hossegor (119 km)

  • Surf lesson at Biscarrosse
  • Lunch at the Etang de Cazaux
  • Beach and free surf session at Seignosse
  • Oyster and wine tasting at Hossegor lake (not included)
  • Evening at Joe and Joe (open air, pétanque, pool table)

Day 4 (Wednesday): From Biscarrosse to Hossegor (119 km)

  • Morning at the Hossegor market
  • Walk around the Pédebert industrial estate (free)
  • Skate lesson at the Capbreton skatepark
  • Sunset surf lesson in Capbreton

Day 5 (Thursday): From Hossegor to Saint-Jean-de-Luz (47 km)

  • Surf lesson on Santocha beach
  • Afternoon at leisure - Visit to Bayonne, Biarritz, Bidart, and Guethary
  • Free surfing session on Lafitenia beach
  • Sunset and dinner in a hidden restaurant (not included, secret spot)

Day 6 (Friday): From Hossegor to Saint-Jean-de-Luz (47 km)

  • La Rhune hike in Ascain
  • Visit to Espelette and Saint Jean de Luz
  • Surfing lessons
  • End-of-stay evening in a hidden bar (secret spot)

Day 7 (Saturday): From Saint-Jean-de-Luz to Dax (85 km)

  • Surf lesson
  • 2 hours relaxation in the city thermal baths (not included)
  • Return to The Family Van agency before 2 p.m.

Requirements

  • The driver must be at least 21 years old
  • The driver must have held a category B driving licence for at least 1 year. The licence must have been valid for more than 1 year without interruption

Included excursions

Each day, you'll benefit from 1 to 2 hours of surf lessons (suit and board included) with Antoine, the guide and surf teacher! A welcome restaurant is also included. All the other activities are either free or at your charge (museum visits, wine tasting, bar, and restaurants).

Accompanied by a passionate guide and state-certified surf instructor, discover the Gironde, the Landes and the Basque Country during an out-of-the-ordinary stay, after collecting your van 1 minute's walk from Dax station.

The Family Van wants to avoid food wastage as much as possible and they also want to give you the opportunity to enjoy local and seasonal food in restaurants.

The Family Van is located 1 minute away by foot from Dax train station (which is 3.5 hours from Paris, direct train). Otherwise, there are local trains that arrive from:

  • Bordeaux (1 hour 15 minutes)
  • Biarritz (1 hour)

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
