Greece, the Magic land of Meltemi, in July and August is the ideal location where to run a catamaran kite and sailing camp. You will sail and kite from Paros in the area of the central Cyclades, kiting in Pounda, Antiparos, Blue Lagoon, Mykonos, Rinia, and Kofounissi.

During summer the local Meltemi wind is strong and reliable, providing endless days of kitesurfing between the islands. In the evening it is time to explore the local life in the characteristic blue and white villages with amazing sunsets on the sea and good dinners in the local tavernas.

Route and spots

You will sail from Paros to Athens around the central Cyclades, route, and spots will be chosen according to the weather and wind conditions. The main islands and spots will be Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Kofounissi, Rinia, and Mykonos. A visit to Ios and Donoussa could be an option too.

Kiting, coaching, and rescue

Kite level

Minimum level required to kite without classes and supervision is the ability to ride upwind, control the kite on the land, body drag upwind and relaunch the kite from the water. The setting up, the taking off and the landing of the kite will be done sometimes from the catamaran. Staff will help and assist the riders.

Kiters can count on the assistance of a 20 hp tender.

Kite classes

Classes are possible for beginner according to spots, wind conditions, and composition of the group on board. Only one tender is available both for beginner’s lessons and independent kiter’s rescue. Classes are possible for beginners without limitation for group reserving the entire catamaran.

Wind and weather

During summer, the local Meltemi wind is strong and reliable, providing endless days of kitesurfing between the islands. Meltemi is blowing from the north with an intensity between 15 and 30 kn. When Meltemi is not on, 12 - 15 kn thermal breeze is present. You will need a kite size between 6 - 12 m. A 3 - 2 mm shorty wetsuit is advised for strong Meltemi days and sunset sessions.

According to wind and weather conditions, it's possible to visit other spots like Syros, Naxos and other spots in the Cyclades. Itineraries are not binding and the actual itinerary can be adjusted by the skipper because of unforeseen circumstances or other reasons like wind and weather conditions.

For this period going from and to Athens itinerary is slightly different including more spots and islands like Syros and Kithnos. Please expect Manuela joining the crew on period 2 (July 10).
