You will stay in a surf hostel on the beachfront in Muizenberg in a dorm with other surfers. African Soul Surfer is situated right on the beach front offering an amazing view of the surf and coastline. The hostel embodies a vibrant surf culture, providing a community atmosphere for surfers on all levels. Its facilities include a kitchen, to store food or cook meals, a lounge, to unwind or have a movie night, a pool room, for some fun during your stay, and a boardroom where they store all surfboards if you feel like free surfing.
Additionally, it has a restaurant with ocean views called The Commons where you will have your delicious vegetarian breakfast and a great view to unwind or watch the surf. With regular events, live music, and a welcoming vibe, the hostel creates an engaging and lively environment for travelers, fostering a sense of belonging and adventure.

Advance your surfing
Are you ready to learn how to surf or advance your surfing during Cape Town’s summer surf season, combining adventure with purpose? Then this surf camp is for you! Think beautiful sunny days, white sandy beaches, and perfect turquoise-blue a-frame peaks. As Cape Town is located on a peninsula, no matter the swell or wind direction, there are always waves to surf and places to explore.
Surf instructors will help you conquer your surfing by taking you to the best surf spots of the day. With multiple surf instructors at hand and lots of different waves to choose from, you are in good hands, and Surfpop will ensure you can surf the waves that are best for your surfing ability.
Share the stoke
One afternoon you get the opportunity to share the stoke of surfing with the Surfpop children from townships in Cape Town by coaching them in the surf. By booking your trip with them, you also contribute to the Surfpop Foundation, as they donate 10% of their profits.

Babongile, who joined Surfpop as a beneficiary in 2015, is now proudly teaching the Surfpop child beneficiaries how to surf for the past three years and is also surf coaching Surfpop volunteers. In his spare time, he is also teaching private lessons when he is not surfing himself. He lives for surfing so you are in good hands and he will make sure you are up and riding in no time.

Muizenberg is a vibey surf village, 30 minutes south of Cape Town, listed in the top 20 surf towns in the world by National Geographic. Known for its long, white sand beach and colorful beach huts. It is set against the backdrop of the dramatic False Bay coastline and surrounding mountains and offers stunning ocean views, hiking, swimming, and exploring tidal pools. The neighborhood is known for its cultural and artistic vibrancy. It hosts various festivals, markets, surf stores, and great restaurants, fostering a lively and inclusive community spirit.

Every morning, Surfpop will prepare a healthy breakfast served at The Commons for you to kick start your day filled with surfing and adventure. The ingredients are locally sourced with a variety to choose from. In the evenings, you can share a beautiful home-cooked meal or you can pick one of the amazing restaurants or food markets in Muizenberg or Cape Town to end off the day together. Dinners are delivered daily and both vegetarian and meat for a regular diet.
