I accidentally found this hostel surf camp hotel and its amazing! Extremely good value for money.
Great laid back atmosphere, extremely delicious home made food and breakfast, a staff that goes the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay and the hostel is very clean, with nice warm showers, awesome skateboard ramp, and hammocks.
If you need surf lessons, I can very much recommend it to take them here, good teacher available, funny energy, and great skills. For me this place ranks very high on my list of favorite hostels!
Simply the best surfcamp in Aljezur! Great facility and beautiful area. Very relaxed staff and good service. The owners are really trying to make you feel at home. Rene and Helen keep up the great job! See you next year.

On the journey there you may be wondering where the place is but as soon as you arrive you realize that this little hidden gem, tucked away along the southwest coast of Portugal is something special. Close to some good surf and kite spots, and with a crew that really knows how to make you feel welcome. It gets a thumbs up.

I didn't stay at the camp but did take kitesurf lessons with my son. I was originally going to book a three or five day course but it was a lot of money and I decided to wait till I got there to get a better sense of the wind. So glad I did it as it changed massively from one day to the next and although we were there for 10 days, it turned out to be difficult to predict till the day whether it was worthwhile. We had never done this before and our first day was poor wind and 180 EUR later my son and I had hardly managed to raise the kite! Thankfully martin who was the lead instructor was a really decent guy and we went back a second day with him and with good wind -we had a great day. Unfortunately day three also had no wind and you can't tell until you turn up - so it did make arranging anything else a bit of a pain. I can't compare with other kite companies but I can say Martin was excellent, just be careful not to book a course unless you are staying a while or are happy to do other things if the wind is not good for kiting -pay a day at a time.
I have taken five surf lessons, four days wave surfing and one day kite surfing. I enjoyed the lessons very much. The surf coaches are very friendly and instruct very well. The same goes for the people working at the camp, they are very friendly and helpful. Everything was so easy to arrange, for example, the pickup from Lagos to the camp. The beaches and the lagoon around the camp are very beautiful. I also enjoyed the very good food at the camp.

We (a couple) came for a one week stay with kite surfing lessons at Atlantic Riders Surf Camp. Even though we had a bit of bad luck with the wind, we enjoyed it so much that we spontaneously stayed for a second week! The camp has a great and relaxed atmosphere run by a flexible and always helpful team and our apartment was beautiful. I didn't have such a good sleep since a long time. Also the home made food in the camp is amazing! The kite lagoon near Lagos is definitely worth the 30 minutes drive. In between high and low tide, it's a perfect spot to learn kite surfing. Also as a more advanced kiter I had a lot of fun there. Only towards low tide it might get a bit crowded. Martin and Chris are great and highly motivated kite surf instructors and after a while I realized, that we were almost every day longer in the water than any other kite school that is teaching there! A really big thumps up to Martin and Chris for this! Also everyone else agreed, that these instructors are better than in most other kite schools we had experience before. Additionally, they took care of us during no-wind days where we had the opportunity to go surfing, rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, or explored the nice coasts in the area.
Three really cool days spent in middle of lovely persons and amazing wild sea side. Perfect not only for surfers, but also for family looking for nature. Beautiful room with perfect facilities. Breakfast absolutely gorgeous. Good prices. Thanks to all of the staff. We certainly go there again to learn kite surfing, why not!

For me the Atlantic Riders surfcamp became to feel like my home away from home! I went there to spend a week in may 2014, mainly just to be by myself, the beach, the water, the surf, but in the end I did not want to leave, and actually directly booked to come back in September to October for two and a half weeks! The atmosphere is super relaxed, I have met the most awesome and lovely people (both guests as well as the owners and surf and yoga teachers), the food is so good thanks to Helen, and of course the surroundings are beautiful! I felt I could be me, without all the stress, hurry, business etc which you normally feel at home, and just enjoy being there with the only thing to worry was nothing! Lovin' the place and the people and will be back for sure (and soon!)

I returned from a vacation at the surf camp a few weeks ago, and it has honestly taken me all of this time to think of a review to write that would somehow express how incredibly awesome it was! Spent two weeks there, first in the private apartment and then in the shared cabins. Both were honestly fantastic. I've been to several surf camps in Europe and North Africa and this was by far the best. I went with a very specific goal and felt I got got so much more than what I paid for. The coaches are incredible and the beaches are breathtaking, and that's not all folks. Surfing is followed by some time to chill and my next favorite thing, dinner time, home-cooked, super tasty meals to finish off the day (and the desserts, wow), what more could you ask for? The whole crew at Atlantic Riders is just fabulous. I would go back in a heartbeat. Do not miss this place. It rocks!
