This listing has the most popular offer available in Taiwan
Discover this beautiful tropical and yet uncrowded surf destination in east Asia, Taiwan! SurfHouse Taiwan runs a small and cozy surf house and you will be a part of the family for the duration of your stay. There are plenty of different surf spots within a quick ride and every day, SurfHouse Taiwan will bring you to where the waves are best suited for your level. After surfing, you can dive into the exotic far eastern culture and indigenous art scene, hike up to waterfalls, or go to the nearby town and test your newly learned Chinese words!
SurfHouse Taiwan offers a few beds in a warm and familiar surf house. They do not run a large surf camp and like to take time for their guests and their needs.
There is a fully-furnished kitchen at your disposal, a reading room, free Wi-Fi, and a rooftop area for chilling, barbecuing, and star gazing.
The neighbors are mostly indigenous farmers and they go up early to work and also early to bed. Therefore, make sure to keep the noise low after 10 p.m.
For intermediate and up surfers, we are the spot guides, we will go find the best waves for the day, and tell them about the spot, if the waves are good of course we will go with them, but sometimes we stay on shore and take photos, it really depends on the guests.
For beginning surfers, that means we go with them, and give tips and pointers, they can at any time come out from the whitewash / beginning green waves to get some tips and pointers, but if people are practicing on the whitewash we won’t be sitting with them in the water, assure you can understand depending on the waves, we like small waves just as much as big ones, however if people are just wanting to practice popping up on whitewash waves in less than favorable conditions for green waves, we will be on shore taking photos.
As a guideline, a session is 2 to 3 hours, but of course, if the waves are good we will stay out and surf the entire day add no added costs or whatsoever, most beginners have had enough within 2 to 3 hours.
In summertime, it’s really hot and being out in the daytime means a sunburn, and then people have to avoid the sun for the rest of the few days, so we aim to go out at 4 in the afternoon, depending on how the clouds are and we can surf till about 18:30 19:00 the sunsets.
In wintertime the morning conditions might be better before the winds pick up and we go early and go for a trip (wintertime we aim for minimum intermediate surfers). If it's good we can stay out the whole day of course, if not we do a session, go for lunch, and in the afternoon we can surf the local beach break if someone wanted to go out for another session, we also have motorbikes for rent with surf racks, so no problem to get down to the beach (actually just down to the beach break we don’t charge people for use).
One excursion is included in the week's package. Depending on the weather, season, and surf condition, this one excursion can be between 2 hours and half a day. In winter time, a visit to a hot spring is a nice trip.
This is not available for a stay less than 6 nights.
Hello, My name is Nathan and i'm a surf instructor from New Zealand. After graduating at University in 2016, I caught the travel bug and have surf instructed in countries including Sri Lanka, Bali and now in Taiwan! I believe that the world would be a better place if everyone surfed, so i have made it my personal mission to get as many people in the water as I can. Whether you are beginning, intermediate or advanced, lets jump in the van, turn up the music and find some waves!
