Last year I started to attend Surf Yoga Beer bootcamps, yoga nights, and joined their run club. Since I loved those events, I decided to go to their Nicaragua trip in November without knowing who else would be going. It was the best decision I have ever made. I learned how to surf, had bonfires on a beach, did yoga during a sunset, and lived a week of my life without a care in the world. SYB is lead by some of the most inspirational people I have ever met and therefore they attract the most motivating/kind-hearted people to their events. SYB thrives off positive energy and is a no-judgement zone. SYB does a great job of making fitness fun no matter your fitness level. This is the best part about SYB - the company shows you how to not take life so seriously and live the life you want which ultimately will give you the best fitness results and friendships you could ever ask for. I have nothing but pure love & gratitude for SYB.

Jumping on a plane to a foreign country with a group of strangers is not for everybody. In my case I was fortunate enough to have said YES and jumped right in. First it was Amalfi Coast Italy which blew my mind and opened my eyes to how professional, organized, and downright fun SYB is. Then in Nicaragua over Thanksgiving I met a whole new group of people. Even Rockaway Beach (surfing), Hunter Mountain (snowboarding), and other local events like run club and booty camp are equally amazing. Surf Yoga Beer has become family and a way of life for me. I continue to meet the most amazing friends and am getting in great shape in the process. If you are on the fence whether you should join an excursion or not "don't think just do" is one of SYB's mantras. Jump right in you won't regret it!! Perhaps I'll see you on the next trip. Definitely felt one of the best decisions I've made!!!

I have to take a moment to thank my friend Nathan August and give his company Surf Yoga Beer a HUGE shout out. What an amazing experience. Life-changing, really. I got to spend a week in one of the most beautiful places in the world with some of the most beautiful and fun souls I have ever met. I learned how to surf. I got to snorkel and see the most amazing life under water. Kayaking, cliff jumping, scaling waterfalls, the BEST beach day of my life with a new group of friends that I hope to go on more adventures with because they are all BADASS. The list goes on and on I would recommend Surf Yoga Beer retreats to anyone! Glorious!

Before I went to Costa Rica, I was feeling stuck in every way possible. I did not like my job. I was moving through the world on autopilot. I stopped being an active participant in my life. I wanted something, anything, that was not here, in this massive city of New York where I felt suffocated. Sometimes the universe throws you a floaty right when you need it and says “hold on tight because we’re getting you out of here”. Going to Costa Rica for a week with a group of people I barely knew seemed like a great solution. As the new year approaches, I find myself thinking back to those amazing moments I spent in Costa Rica. Here are the most special lessons I've learned.
