The surf
No words can truly capture the incredible experience of surfing in the Mentawai Islands. Bring your bikini or boardshorts (water temperature is 28 degrees Celsius), plenty of sunscreen, and a lycra. Reef boots are not necessary but if you feel more comfortable with them, feel free to bring them along. It's always a good idea to carry an extra leash.
You don't need to worry about bringing wax unless you have a particular favorite. Bring two or three trusty surfboards to tackle any wave condition and get ready to have your mind blown!

Please arrange your flight to arrive at Minangkabau International Airport (PDG). Wondering how to get to Villa Onu? Don't worry, they've got you covered! Book your flight a day early to Padang, then sit back and relax in the taxi as you breathe in the tropical air. Spend a night at your hotel and adjust to the time difference.
The next day, be ready at 6 am with a cup of coffee, as your taxi driver will be waiting for you outside to take you to the ferry. During the ride, you can read a book or try to spot some dolphins on the roof deck. Remember to bring a long sleeve shirt, as the AC can make the room feel cold.
Once you arrive in Tuapejat, you'll start to feel the Mentawai Vibe. Meet Ignas, your surf guide and captain of the speed boat, and enjoy the scenic landscape of Sipora Island. Take a refreshing dip in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and before you know it, you'll have arrived at Villa Onu!
