During this retreat, you will stay at Golden Heritage Ericeira Villas. This retreat is an alternative for those seeking for some peace of mind. It is located in the city center but on one of the few premium properties in Ericeira. It has a common pool, outdoor parking, and also a number of green spaces.

Not only the Golden Heritage itself but its outdoor pool, the lovingly landscaped garden, as well as the countless chill-out and withdraw options also leaves nothing to be desired. The villa's goal is to be more a home than a surf camp, which allows you to have individual attention. Private double room

This room has occupancy for one or two guests. The room will have a double bed and lots of light. The bedroom is inserted in one of the large villa's property. There is a shared full bathroom for every three bedrooms. Living room, kitchen, garden, and swimming pool are the common spaces.

The yoga classes invite you to withdraw, clear the mind, and relax. The daily Hatha yoga classes are perfect to start your day, build strength, and work on your individual body alignments. The special surf yoga sessions are designed to benefit your surf practice and help to prevent sore muscles after a surf day. The team is composed of people who travel a lot and know the importance of being well-received and followed up when you come to a country that is not yours.

Special Hatha yoga postures help to strengthen the key physical points to the surfing practice, such as arms, legs, back, and wrists, minimizing the risk of injuries and improving recovery time after a surf session. It helps you to focus your mind and supports your balance on the board. In yoga, you learn not to force any pose, but to find the depth of the pose in the moment. In surfing, you learn that you cannot force a wave or a set. Instead, you practice being fully present in the moment and in tune with the current so you can catch a wave.

Therefore, it is no wonder that pros, like Kelly Slater and Rochelle Ballard, use this old-school practice (roughly 5,000 years old) to complete their surfing skills. Whether you are a pro surfer or not, your surfing will definitely benefit from a special surf-yoga practice. You will see that practicing yoga will improve your surfing steadily.

Yoga is a great way to start your surf day by warming up your body and creating the energy on focusing yourself before a session or by stretching to help to avoid neck, shoulder, and back stiffness. You can then relax your physical and mental bodies after a nice surf day. Practicing yoga on flat surf days can also keep you in great shape until the next big swell comes in.

The Yin yoga classes in the evenings give you the chance to end your day completely relaxed. Several times a week, there are also beach yoga classes where the rhythm of the waves and the salty air let you relax and calm your mind immediately. Both yoga and surfing teach you to meet and overcome fear, breathe deeply and ride the waves of life with grace and ease. Learning to concentrate during intense yoga poses plays out in the water. As you breathe deeply and calm your mind, you settle into a natural rhythm and balance on your board. So when the big waves roll in, you can stay cool and collected. Hang loose with yoga!

Morning sessions

The morning sessions are composed of energizing and revitalizing Hatha yoga to strengthen and tone your body structure and posture. In the happy back sessions, you will concentrate on postures to support a healthy and natural body posture, and a strong healthy back. During open your heart sessions, you will learn postures and frequencies to open your chests, release tension in your heart regions, and support your well-being.

With the hip hip hurra sessions, you will practice postures to open your hips. In addition to the benefits of the improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well. Opening the hips gives you access to freedom in the body and in your own unique expression - creatively, physically, sexually, and spiritually.

Sundown yoga sessions

With deepening Yin yoga, you will reach out to the fasciae structures, connective tissues, and joints of your body, you take your personal time out, let all the stress go and just become aware of yourself in the present moment.

Meditation and pranayama

Not every way of meditation is equally effective and relaxing for everyone. Therefore, you will get to know and practice different ways of how to meditate.

This retreat will take place in Ericeira, Lisbon, Portugal. Early in the morning, the misty veil slowly rains over the Portuguese Atlantic Coast and the first rays of sunlight fall warmly over the Surf Riders & CO - Surf Camp, dipping the flowers and palm trees in the garden into a light morning blush. The chirping of the little birds is the only noise you hear.

Nestled amongst the rolling fields of lush green vegetation, there stand the villas of Surf Riders & CO - Surf Camp, overlooking the region of Ericeira. There, the world is still in order. Slowly, the clear air mixes with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The first guests arrive at the breakfast buffet, ready for a new day in paradise.

The surrounding area also offers a lot. For city lovers and explorers, the center of the beautiful city Ericeira (the first world reserve surf in Europe and second in the world and part of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) world tour) and its many stunning beaches are within walking distance.

Apart from being a relaxed surf town, Ericeira is known for its combination of traditional and modern Portuguese charm. The beautiful scenery of blue and white architecture stretches through the entire cityscape. Its vibrant nightlife invites you to let go and dance through the night. The local and international restaurants make sure you get the best service while eating fresh and healthy delicacies.

Ericeira is very close to Lisbon and Sintra as well as many other spots worth visiting if you fancy a change of scenery. For those who like to explore more of the Portuguese Atlantic Coast, the historical cities, such as Óbidos, Peniche, and Fatima are very close too. The whole coastline invites water sports enthusiasts to go surfing, sailing, diving, and canoeing, while land lovers come with hiking, golfing, biking, and many more activities at their expense.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS)

  • Take the A8 motorway.
  • Then, the A21 will take you to Ericeira.
  • Leave the airport at Av Berlin and turn left at Av. Porto.
  • Follow the signs to road E1 to the north A1 / A8 in the west / A12 in the south.
  • Take the exit 14 at IC17 / CRIL towards A8 west.
  • Take the exit towards A8 Leiria / Loures and follow this road for 16 kilometers.
  • Take the exit 5 towards N8 / Mafra / Malveira and follow the A21 motorway to the end.
  • The toll has a cost of 2.90 EUR if you have not seen green.
  • Make sure you get a valid ticket on the automatic machine.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request for 70 EUR. You can book your transfer soon after booking the room.

Alternatively, you can just take the metro to Campo Grande. In Campo Grande, catch a bus from Mafrense to Ericeira. The entire trip (from the airport to Campo Grande, Ericeira Bus Terminal, and walk to the Golden Heritage) can take three to four hours depending on the time you take the bus.

Arrival by bus

A cheap and convenient way to get from Lisbon to Ericeira is to use the public bus. Leaving the Campo Grande in Lisbon, there is a direct connection to the center of Ericeira. The first bus leaves at 6:27 a.m. and the last at 11.40 p.m. It takes between 45 minutes (fast lane) and 85 minutes.
