After that, you will get back to the camp and get a bite to eat. The afternoon is reserved for more surfing, as all the surfing gear is available to guests to use as they please.
For level one, all classes begin with stretching and warm up, so the students get the awareness of the importance to stretch. Before getting in the water, the instructor describes the waves conditions for that day and points out rip currents and sandbars, so students are aware of what is happening at the surf spot.
After that, a deeply explained land lesson begins, so students have a chance to observe the demonstrations on land. All movements and techniques that are demonstrated by the instructor are repeated by students, so they can feel and understand by themselves. This simulation prepares the students for getting into the water and controlling the board in the waves, paddling out, getting through the surf, and standing up.
You will start in the white water with special boards that will make you stand in no time. Once you get the basics, instructors will guide you through more advanced techniques, so you can start surfing on your own.
To ensure your safety, instructors will cover ocean awareness, equipment, and etiquette, just to name some of the topics that are part of the lessons. Groups include one instructor to every six students. If the waves get bigger or the crowds increase, they might even do a one-on-one ratio, just so you are safe in the water.
Of course, instructors want to avoid big waves and the crowd. That is why they have two cars available for customers, so they can take you to the best waves of the day. Everyone will enjoy improving their technique with helpful guidance from certified Instructors. The fun is guaranteed!
Level two means students must attend to a few minimal requirements to join this program. They must catch their owns waves without help, deal with currents and waves, and take off on a green wave.
The surf sessions begin with mixing instructor help in the water with filmed sessions. This is to assess your weaknesses and your strengths, so you can receive the best advice. Next sessions will start with a theory about currents, crowds, positioning on the lineup, maneuvers, and body mechanics analysis.
You will also get to know more advanced spots within Coromandel area, so you can experience different waves at different conditions of wind and tide.
There is no better way to start or finish up a day than with a yoga session to pump-up your muscles or relax. The yoga sessions are held off-site in a yoga studio just about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the surf house. The studios are Take a Breath and Nourish. Both studios have different types of yoga and good choice of days and times.
They have a Hammock Yoga that is very good to release your joints and spine. It is a different kind of yoga but super fun and relaxing. This class is suitable for anyone who wishes to start yoga.Their classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 5 pm.
The classes are divided between Intro, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. A timetable will be provided to you on arrival.
