Surf N Stay New Zealand's qualified surf coaches and certified yoga teachers will be there to maximize your experience, potential, ability, and skills by sharing their passions with you. Start your morning in the ocean, surfing with Surf N Stay New Zealand's highly recommended coaches who will ensure that you catch plenty of waves.
Surf
With Surf N Stay New Zealand's guidance during your surf sessions, you will learn proper popup techniques, the most efficient and effective way to paddle, what to look for so you can catch your own waves, safety tips, and the surfer’s etiquette to keep yourself and others safe.
Surf lessons are usually done in the morning, but this can change according to conditions. Surf N Stay New Zealand's instructors are knowledgeable and can adapt to your level of surfing, from beginners to intermediate, progressing to more advanced skills. It is important to communicate to your host and coach so they understand where you are and what your expectations are.
Yoga
Your yoga session will focus on several yoga flows designed to stretch and strengthen your surf muscles with poses that you can use well after your adventure. These poses will help you stay in surf shape in between times in the water. You will also learn proper breathing and alignment techniques, variations of poses, as well as modifications. Each class ends with a short meditation.
The yoga sessions will be held by an experienced teacher, having in mind your daily surfing routine. She will focus on surfing movements either to prepare the group for a surf session or to just relax, according to the group's needs. Most sessions will be by the beach but in case of bad weather, participants will hold them in the house.
Daily itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and first surf lesson
Arrive around lunchtime and meet and greet your host with freshly made natural juice. After that, you will get ready for your first surf session with your coach. This first session will set the pace for the remaining sessions, with a specific focus on what you would like to work on.
Your coach will be available for techniques and equipment discussions so you can get the most out of your training. The afternoon will be reserved for a nice relaxing yoga session at a local studio.
Days 2 to 4: Surf days
Start your day with a specially prepared breakfast for your group from 08:00. If you have any dietary requirements, please let your host know. The surf session will follow, but it may slightly change daily according to tide and swell conditions. Your coach will update you if any changes happen.
The afternoon will be reserved for any other activities, for an extra surf session, or just for relaxing. Just do not use all your energy as your yoga session will be coming up.
Day 5: Departure
Your freshly made breakfast will be served as always from 08:00. Differently from the other days, the last of your retreat will be reserved for an extra surf lesson or any other activity you would like to have before moving on to your next adventure. If the surf is good, you can talk to your host and extend your stay.
