This is the ultimate location for surfing, relaxing and comfort - combining the best of all worlds. Non-surfers will also love this Maldivian experience from one of the leading hotel providers in this region of the world. Having your own exclusive performance wave right on your door step on this tropical island means you can wander from your private beach villa to an epic glass surf in a matter of minutes.
Expect to feel like you’ve just moved to the beach. Most of the rooms are beach villas and are literally meters from the water’s edge. You will hear the sea lapping on the sand from your bed. This four-star hotel is exclusive to this tropical island. The rooms are well equipped, with most things you’d expect, and plenty large enough- you’ll get an indoor and outdoor shower, bath, water closet, basin all ensuite, air-conditioned room etc. The TV can be a bit intermittent but when it works you get Sat TV with a lot of English speaking channels. In fact, the hotel was recently refurbished after the Tsunami so everything is a good standard. Recently added are the water-bungalows. If you’re after a really special experience this could be it - direct views out over the sea with your own dining area.
Lohi's is a consistent performance left-hander which breaks off a flat bottom reef from deep water and peels around the tip of the island. You’ll be surfing in paradise and you’ll not have much company. The break normally has a maximum of about ten people in the water at any time. Sometimes you’ll be out with a handful of people and others they’re might be up to 20 people. But there are tons of waves to go around so it’s never much of an issue. The water is so clear and full of life that you’re very likely to be joined by manta rays, dolphins, and turtles in amongst you when you’re surfing. And of course its boardies only as the water is so warm. Some people wear booties to get out over the rocks, but most people stick to their feet.
In the middle of the India Ocean, the Maldives surf season runs from April to September, with the average air and water temperature in the high 20s and low 30s, in crystal clear waters full of wildlife. The island is a 20-minute speedboat trip from Male and is situated in the North Male Atoll and within easy reach of many of the classic breaks in this area.
The food is fantastic buffet style in the inclusive restaurant - with an incredibly large choice to select from for lunch and dinner. There is also another restaurant on the beach side which has amazing views and where you can spoil yourself with Lobster etc. This restaurant is not covered in the inclusive package.
Snorkeling is epic. The Maldives are one of the world’s best places to dive. The reef at the harbor edge is the best spot (just watch the outgoing rip tide). On the opposite side of the island the shallow lagoon is also great.
The hotel and watersports center runs regular snorkeling trips. It’s definitely worth the trip and you’ll probably see manta rays and turtles - and if not then a lot of colorful fish and beautiful coral.
Surf Lohis also offers kite surfing and sailing - but to be honest it’s less than ideal and this isn’t recommended as a destination for kite surfing or sailing! There’s also a full-on diving center on the island and they also teach people.
There are a number of bars on the island which open and close depending on where’s its appropriate. There are two beach bars at either end which are open for most of the day. The main bar by the edge of the swimming pool is the main place where people go to relax after their dinner. This is where, if you’re unlucky enough, you can also here the live music entertainment.
The Spa on the island is excellent. People reported the massages as amazing and the best that they’d ever had!
You will be greeted off your flight and you’ll be whisked by a speedboat to the island. It takes about 20 minutes and is a hassle free way to start your holiday.
