Surf Lisbon House & School provides lessons every day and all year round. The lessons take place between Lisbon - Cascais sea line and Costa da Caparica. This package is perfect for both beginners and intermediate surfers. There will also be specialized lessons for young children between 4 and 8 years old which are extremely safe and fun. Each surfing lesson is for approximately 2 hours.
Beginners level is open to everyone who never surfed before and to those who had some previous contact with the sport, regardless of age, gender or fitness level. The surf camp has boards and wetsuits appropriate to each person so that learning is done in an effective, safe and pedagogic way. Surf Lisbon House & School provides all the equipment needed, including surfboard and wetsuit.
The Intermediate level is appropriate for those who have already some experience in surfing and want to evolve to a superior level. After an inicial evaluation by the head coach, the surfer will join an homogeneous group. The acceptance on these intermediate groups is subject to assessment of the head coach and surfers must have their own equipment, but if the instructor sees some specific need, the surfer can use a surf school board. These lessons can take place at different spots around Lisbon depending on the forecast and wave conditions. Sometimes Surf Lisbon House & School uses videos and photo shooting on these lessons for further technical analysis.
In this initial surfing state, the overall objective is to provide a quality education and to engage the child in the context and culture of surfing, on a cheerful and safe environment. The specific goals address the multilateral development which has essentially to do with the adaptation to the aquatic environment and at a later stage by the development of basic motor qualities indispensable for learning the surfing techniques. Other goals, in a more advanced and medium and long-term stage, is the formation of surfers and competitors. In these lessons, Surf Lisbon House & School applies an appropriate method considering the child´s age and technical level, with special attention to safety through the use of appropriate equipment, like softboards for example, and preferably with private lessons. This means 1 kid to 1 instructor.

When driving at IC 20 towards Costa da Caparica, take the exit to Trafaria/ Praias de S. João. Drive for about 2 kilometers until you get to Trafaria and then turn left and follow the signs to Praias de S. João. You will see a toll to get into the beach access. After the toll, just drive straight and Kontiki Beach Bar is the first beach right in front of the main road.
"We traveled to Surf Lisbon house for a long weekend at the end of April. We are all women in our 40s with jobs and children so were worried we might feel out of place in the Surf House. We were completely wrong. Nuno and his wife were incredibly welcoming - we felt very much at home. The weather was wonderful - warm sun and a light breeze. The waves were good too. We left behind snow in Scotland. The instructors are very friendly and helpful, incredibly encouraging. We all improved during our trip. It is very easy to have the instructors supply your wet suit and your board - they take care of everything. The house itself is very comfy and friendly. Communal breakfasts with the other guests are a good way to meet people and enjoy the fresh rolls and coffee. The train station is 5 mins walk away and you can easily access Lisbon from there or one of the many local beaches. The food was great - especially the local restaurant in the village next to the Surf House. I also recommend a trip to Balem to eat those famous custard tarts."

"I and my boyfriend only travel to places where there is surf. We had been on a surf trip to Peniche before, but this time we felt like celebrating Christmas in the great city of Lisbon, combined with some surfing. We went to Lisbon for 8 days and did not want to go through the hustle of bringing along our shortboards and longboards on the airplane. So we decided to book a private room at the Lisbon Surf House, including the rental of boards and wetsuits. I immediately felt comfortable emailing the owner, who was very friendly and professional. Our plane was delayed so we arrived in the middle of the night. The owner stayed up for us and was extremely helpful and we very much appreciated the hospitality. We had a very nice stay. The house has a great atmosphere. It really felt like a home away from home. Our room was not very big but had everything we needed. The house has two very clean bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and the interior is cozy and nicely decorated. Also big thanks to the instructors that brought us to the surf spots. We definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to have a nice surf trip at a cool place with some very kind people. We were always welcome to ask the owner for his advice about where to go in the city, which is 10 to 15 minutes away by train."

"It was the first time to surf for me and that was exciting and super cool. I booked the surf lessons via email. They informed me of the meeting time one day before the arrival date and picked me up from the meeting point in Lisbon because I did not stay at the surf camp. Although the weather was not calm and really windy, it was a really nice experience. I recommend to surf in Lisbon. Actually, I was considering going to Peniche or Ericeira. But this choice is better for me because I could stroll around Lisbon after and before surfing."

"You cannot really go wrong with choosing the Surf Lisbon House & School. I stayed here for a week in late September and it was perfect. The weather was ideal as was the water, and the people were really friendly and easy going. The house itself is located a short train ride (maybe 20 minutes) from the metro station in Lisbon. It was really easy to get to and is a chill place to hang out. I stayed in the Attic Room, which was like a hostel type set up and was pretty neat. It has 5 single beds and everyone has their own little space. There are also separate rooms where a lot of couples stayed. There is a busy highway out in the front and the train runs out back so there is a good chance you will hear something regardless of the room you are in, but you will be so tired after a day of surfing so you will pass out with no problem. I went by myself but immediately met everyone staying at the house and people were coming and going throughout the week. There is a grocery store 2 train stops away. The surf instructors will sometimes make a trip down there in the van if they are hosting a backyard barbecue in order to get supplies. The kitchen is equipped with everything to make your meals and there is cupboard and fridge space for everyone's snacks or groceries if you choose to eat in and relax after a day at the beach. The instructors are all very easygoing, friendly and patient. They make an effort to ensure that everyone is brought into the group, comfortable, properly equipped and safe. I would definitely recommend Surf Lisbon and would not hesitate to stay there again if I found myself back in the area. The whole experience of booking, transport, checking in and checking out was seamless. The staff does a great job checking emails and respond very quickly. They are genuinely eager to ensure you have no question or problem and if you do, they will go out of their way to solve them as quickly as possible. What are you still doing reading this? Go book your trip!"
