In the really calm village of Murches, the surf villa is located five minutes by car from Guincho beach, the main place where surf lessons are given. The surf villa is divided into six large bedrooms, all designed and furnished to provide maximum comfort and convenience, combined with a unique design. It also offers you a wide and fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful and comfortable garden with two different environments and swimming pool, a living room with TV and several DVDs and a bar with plenty of games where fun and good drinks are guaranteed.

Bed linens and towels

All the beds (including shared rooms) have clean sheets, blanket, and shower / face towels. For maximum comfort, the toilets in the private rooms have shampoo and shower gel. We also have beach towels to rent for an extra 4 EUR (full duration of your stay).

Private rooms

This Surf Villa has two large private rooms that can be set into double or twin rooms. Both are en-suite and have plenty of space and natural light. Each room as unique design to make you feel at home.

Shared rooms

There are four comfortable shared rooms in the camp with four or six beds. All rooms have solid and spacious Portuguese wood bunk beds and large lockers to save your stuff.

Program

Surf Cascais offers unique surf guiding sessions, to make the most of your surf experience. With an experienced surf guide on your side, you will surf the best breaks and secret spots, like a local. They take you to different places, always according to the best conditions, to help you improve your surf skills. They can either collect photo and film material of you or be in the water showing how the spot works and ride the best waves. The surf lessons have a duration of two hours with all material included (board and wetsuit) and full insurance.

Frequently asked questions

What's the ratio between instructors / students in the group lessons?

Surf Cascais have a maximum of 5 students per 1 instructor. This ratio will depend on the students level, place of the lessons and also the conditions. After the warm-up, they make the different groups and each level stays with a different instructor.

Can I choose the time of the lessons?

In order to provide the best surf lessons possible, the schedule changes every week according to the ideal tide, wave and wind conditions. Surf Cascais are only sure about the place and time for your lesson +/- 3 days before! During high season (May - October), you will normally have 2 lessons a day, so you can choose which one suits you better. Surf lessons can be schedule in the morning between 7am and 1pm, afternoon between 1pm and sunset.

What do I need to take for the surf lessons?

Surf Cascais provide the equipment (surfboard and wetsuit). You only need to bring a beach towel, swimwear, sunscreen and they recommend to keep a bottle of water with you. Please avoid high valuable belongings (expensive cameras, laptops, etc.), even if you come with your own car or rental car.

Can I keep the surf equipment after the lessons?

The equipment is included only during the time of the lesson. If you want to practice more Surf Cascais charge an extra 25 EUR / pax for 2 hours surfboard + wetsuit). If you have a 5 lessons package and booked the morning sessions you can use the material for that price until the end of the second session.

Are the lessons only for beginners?

Whether you’ve been surfing for some time or it is your first time, Surf Cascais manage to prepare different surf groups according to each student level. Surf Cascais cover 3 different surf levels; beginners, intermediates and advanced (surf guiding). According to this they offer different types of boards with different sizes and materials, soft and epoxy/fiber boards starting from 5'11 up to 9'0.

Do you offer lessons every day? What's the schedule of my lessons?

Surf Cascais have daily lessons: 2 surf sessions during the mid/high season (March to October) and 1 lesson during the low season (November to March). During low season we might not have lessons every day due to the conditions. They schedule the lessons every week, according to the best tide, wave and wind conditions. The schedule of your lessons will be sent by email a couple of days before your arrival.

What is the minimum number of lessons to learn the basics?

Surf Cascais always recommend their students to have a minimum of 5 lessons if they want to have a proper surf experience. For an intense surf learning, the ''Surfing Days'' or ''Full Surf Pack'' in the Surf Camp would be the best option, with 2 x 2h surf lessons a day!

How are the conditions in low / mid season?

To be honest, those are the best months to surf! In Cascais, they have Carcavelos beach that is really protected from the big winter swells (waves in the ocean) and perfect for learning! The wind is pretty much offshore every day, providing clean conditions. Weather-wise, the sun shines almost 70% of the Winter and outside temperatures go between 10ºC to 17ºC, with water temperature never bellow 15ºC.

When will my surf lessons start?

The surf lessons are programmed to always start on the day after your arrival. The exact hours of the lessons change every week, according to the best conditions, so Surf Cascais can’t tell the exact time for your start. If you wish to start on your arriving day or later please let them know.

Do you provide bed linen and towels? What about amenities?

There are a few restaurants closed to the Surf Villa within 10 minutes walking. The closest bus station with direct bus to Cascais is also 10 minutes away walking, where you can find a bigger variety of restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. A Uber to Cascais center will cost you around 5 EUR, you will always meet people that want to share it with you if you are traveling alone.

Is the free parking around the villa?

Surf Cascais don't have a private car parking however, there are lots of free parking spots around the Surf Villa. It's a really quiet and residential area. On your GPS write the address ‘’Rua Fernando Pessoa 26, Alcabideche’’ and park your car at any place around there.

David has a big experience in the surfing world, not only as an experienced surfer but also as a Tourism expert, surf instructor, local guide, dining guru, and all-around point man. Born and raised in Lisbon, David has the local knowledge of where the best waves are, the best parties and restaurants in town and the best Lisbon attractions. Surfing since he was 13 years old and teaching how to surf for the past 10 years, gave him the know-how to be a successful manager of Surf Cascais. He has the Portuguese Surfing Federation Certificate for Surf Instructor and a Degree in Hotel Managment.

José Bica

Bica is one of those persons who feel sports, breathes sports, and lives sports. He is the one teaching and surfing during the weeks and competing in triathlons during the weekends. He is an energy machine ready for all kinds of sports. With his big smile and easygoing humor, the surfing is guaranteed to be fun and easy learning. With 12 years of experience in surfing, he feels as comfortable in the water as on land. And when you get that first wave, standing up, and screaming of happiness, that’s when you see him the happiest too.

Cascais is also a natural paradise for surfers, with world-class waves all year round. After an amazing surf day, you can have a delicious dinner, choosing one of the many fresh seafood restaurants spread around this village. The breakfast menu includes bread, ham and cheese, two types of jam, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli, coffee, milk and more. There are vegetarian/vegan options & lactose free and gluten free options. The surf villa tries their best to serve organic products and those that are locally produced.

Please book your flight to arrive at Lisbon International Airport (LIS). Transfer from and to this airport is not included.

Cost of airport transfer is 55 EUR maximum of four persons and 65 EUR for five to ten person per trip. To avail of this, Surf Cascais requires the flight number, arrival hour in Lisbon International Airport (LIS), and a phone number to contact you in case of delays. Please request your transfer with at least 48 hours in advance.

Arrival by train

Take the Metro (Red line) on the airport and go to Alameda station. In Alameda station, you have to change from the Red line to the Green Line and go until the last stop in Cais do Sodré. In Cais do Sodré take the train all the way to the last stop that is Cascais. From the train station to the Villa you can get un Uber for around 4 to 5 EUR.

Arrival by taxi

From Lisbon International Airport (LIS), you can inform the driver to take you to Cascais Surf Villa Rua Fernando Pessoa 30 (26 on google maps), Murches, 2755-223 Alcabideche. It takes more or less 35 to 40 minutes and costs during the day around 40 EUR and during the night around 45 EUR for the ride.

A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
