Surf Camp Sumbawa is the perfect getaway for those who want to get back to nature and that enjoy the intimacy and adventure of a surf trip to a unique and off the well-worn path destination away from the crowds. You will stay in charming wood bungalows during your surf camp.
The bungalows are comfortable haven to retreat you after a full day of adventures. Just a few meters from the lagoon, set in spacious gardens among fruit trees and tropical flowers, the rooms offer modern bathroom facilities with an outdoor shower under the stars.
The bungalows are also equipped with high quality bedding, fresh linens, and a tranquil ambiance that guarantees you a peaceful night's sleep leaving you fresh and ready to tackle the surf and adventures that await the next day. The friendly staff are always on hand 24 hours to assist in making your stay comfortable and unforgettable.
The spacious comfortable rooms feature plenty of relaxing lounge areas, hammocks, and cabanas to chill in, as well as an outdoor dining area for meals under the stars. A thatched bamboo bar where one of the boys will make you a cocktail or fruit juice on demand is available. You can take one of comfy beanbags out to the beach for sunset drinks.
Surf Camp Sumbawa’s instructors are qualified locals with over 20 years’ experience in teaching people to surf in Bali, Lombok, and Sumbawa. They provide a range of boards for the guests to use free of charge. The warm water means you don't need a wetsuit. Beginning with practicing how to jump up on a board, you will learn how to choose waves, how to paddle and take off on a wave, how to turn your board, how to accelerate, and how to perfect your basic techniques for bigger, faster waves.
Daily group surf lessons will be given in groups of 5. If you are keen to fast track your improvement, Surf Camp Sumbawa offers a specialised development program for surfers at all levels which will have you taking your surfing up to the next level faster. From beginner, intermediate, to advanced, you can find guiding and coaching to suit your needs at Surf Camp Sumbawa. If you're an experienced surfer, Surf Camp Sumbawa can take you to some of the world famous breaks in the region and also to lesser known but highly rated spots along West Sumbawa's incredible rugged coastline.
After your lessons, you can then be entertained as the pros take on some of the heaviest and most challenging waves in all of Indonesia. Having spent the day in the sun surfing, you can then sit back on the beautiful beach at the front of the camp and watch as the sun sets over Lombok's Mount Rinjani, taking in the completely relaxed atmosphere of Surf Camp Sumbawa.
This surf camp will take place at Surf Camp Sumbawa located in the West Sumbawa. It is one of the most undiscovered and scenic corners of wilderness coastline in Indonesia. West Sumbawa is a landscape of rolling hills, sweeping white sand beaches, sparkling lagoons, rain forest waterfalls, and spectacular uncrowded, cliff-lined bays.
Cidomos, the horse carriages, are the locally preferred method of transportation in villages and it is common to see cattle and goats happily lying down in the middle of the road. Sumbawa offers a range of rights and lefts, including Little Bingin, Hippies, Phantoms, Nasu, Supersucks, Northern Rights, Sejorong, Tropicals, Yoyos, and Scar reef, which is located right out in front of the camp.
You will be served three meals per day as well as unlimited fresh tropical fruits, fruit juices, coconuts, and a range of other healthy and delicious snacks. You will never go hungry at Surf Camp Sumbawa!
You can fly from Bali or Lombok to Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III Airport (SWQ). Surf Camp Sumbawa will welcome you at the airport and transport you to the camp, a journey of around 2.5 hours down the coast. Each way transfer fee costs 50 EUR.
Ferries depart from Bali to Sengigi in Lombok daily and from here a fast ferry runs direct to Benete port in Sumbawa where Surf Camp Sumbawa will be waiting to collect you and transport you to the camp 20 minutes’ drive away.
You can also catch the ferry from Pandang Bai in Bali to Lombok, drive across Lombok, and board a second ferry at the port of Labuhan Lombok across to Poto Tano in Sumbawa, from where it is a one hour drive down to the camp.
