The longhouse

Surf Camp Lombok’s house is constructed as a traditional Indonesian Borneo longhouse and is located right on the beach. Surf Camp Lombok started building the house in 2008 but always seem to find new projects, so it will probably never be fully finished. Surf Camp Lombok’s main source of material is bamboo since it has a high strength to weight ratio and reproduces extremely fast. All the bamboo Surf Camp Lombok used to build the camp has regrown many times over. The longhouse is designed to give a warm feeling of being home and spend time together with your friends.

The rooms

Surf Camp Lombok’s guests stay in spacious rooms equipped with big beds, mosquito nets and fans. A water closet and a shower is connected to each room, which accommodates 4 guests. Surf Camp Lombok also has a room for 2 people which can be booked upon request.

  • 'Sessions' has a quiver of surfboards in varying sizes, so you can test different board dimensions and make the most of all conditions. Guided by fully qualified team of lifeguard trained surf instructors, you will (in 2 weeks) learn more than most surfers would in a year without coaching. If you are a complete newbie or surfed under 100 times, this is the course for you.
  • As an introduction to surfing, these essential first sessions cover all you need to know on how to get going, keep going and be a surfer for life. With pop lessons on the beach, paddling lessons in the beautiful Indian ocean focusing on safety, turning, duck dive techniques and of course catching and riding those green waves. *You will be taught how to be safe in the water, as you catch your first waves. Surf Camp Lombok will help to develop your confidence and surfing knowledge, offering you expert advice and teaching you the right techniques from the start.
  • You will learn fundamental surfing skills such as reading the sea conditions, sitting and paddling on the surfboard, standing-up movements in broken and green waves, and controlling the board with confidence. Surf Camp Lombok has informal workshops to explain water safety, currents and tides, wave patterns, surfing etiquette and priority rules, how to understand surf reports, how to look after and wax your surfboard, what surfboard is right for you, together with surf specific fitness and yoga.

For advanced surfers

  • The progression 'sessions' is for intermediate to experienced surfers with over 100 surf sessions under their belt. This course is adapted to you as an individual surfer and involves a great deal of photo analysis. You are transferred to surf spots. Surf Camp Lombok’s surf training program committed to helping surfers learn new skills or fine tune existing ones. If you are looking to effectively improve your water skills, if you have surfed roughly over 100 times and if you can catch the majority of your own waves, ‘sessions’ is the course for you.
  • You can ask as many questions as you like and get advice on any part of your surfing from equipment needs, surf training, surf psychology and surf trip information.
  • If you want to learn a new move, catch more waves, do a bigger turn or simply be more confident in the water, you can be assured there is no better advice available. It’s beneficial to bring your own surfboard (but there are boards available) to let Surf Camp Lombok show you how to maximize your performance all round.
  • From the camp, you can view 2 of the 6 waves available in the bay. Let Surf Camp Lombok surf team guide you to the best waves in Lombok, while providing you with local knowledge to surf safely in these amazing breaks.
