Sun Wind Beach Kite Resort Kalpitiya property has a natural rustic aesthetic. All structures have been made out of locally sourced materials and are of traditional design. There is a mix of cabanas and backpacker huts set in a tranquil tropical garden. The property has been designed and constructed by members of the family, including the grandmother who wove the coconut thatching for the roofs and fencing. There is an on-site restaurant offering a range of homemade mouthwatering Sri Lankan style seafood and vegetable curries, snacks and fresh juices.
You have access to board games including carrom and a range of reading material. There is an elevated chill out where you can relax amongst the coconut trees with glimpses of the lagoon. There is a small party boat that is permanently docked by the banks of Kalpitiya Lagoon where you can have a drink and enjoy the stunning sunsets. You can also chill out at the beach huts on the sand bar and Vella Island. Free Wi-Fi is available.
The cabanas are individually designed. Each cabana comes with an en-suite bathroom with shell shower, mosquito net, fan, chill out patio and hammock. Double and twin bed options are available.
Sun Wind Beach Kite Resort Kalpitiya is located near the banks of beautiful Kalpitiya Lagoon, Sri Lanka. The sand bar (main kitesurfing spot) is just one minute's boat ride away across the lagoon. The property is located amongst a coconut grove on lands that have been in the family for generations. The surrounding area is very peaceful and idyllic comprising coconut plantations, salt pans, and sleepy villages. Wild donkeys roam the dirt roads. The sunsets are out of this world. The nights are peaceful and quiet.
The resort is located about three kilometers away from Kalpitiya town which is accessible by tuk tuk, bike or walking. It takes around 3.5 hours to get to the place from the Bandaranaike International Colombo Airport (CMB).
