During your holiday in Moliets with Star Surf Camps, you will be staying in the beautiful bell tents equipped with wooden raised beds, super comfy memory foam mattress, lighting and electricity to charge your phones and other devices.

Sharing these amazing bell tents with a maximum of just 1 other surf camp guest means that your surfing holiday accommodation provides you with ample space and is the perfect home away from home. And better still, you will be provided with the very best memory foam mattresses available: allergy-free, high density, super comfy, and guaranteed to give you a great night’s sleep after a brilliant day surfing. All you need to bring is a pillow, a sleeping bag or bedding and a smile.

All bell tents have a center pole, and an interior mesh zip curtain behind the door curtains, and come with mash windows at the base for better ventilation. The tents are tall enough to stand a surfboard in and wide enough for some morning yoga stretches.

All of the bell tents are equipped with raised wooden bed frames, an electricity socket, and lighting for that little bit of extra comfort while on surf holiday in Moliets. The tents can be set up as a twin option, with two single mattresses, or as the option of a couple with one double mattress.

New additions to the Moliets surf and yoga camp are the bohemian tipis. Each tipi and decking are custom-fitted with an overlap that wraps over and around the wooden flooring for a snug fit at the base to ensure rain stays out and you dry inside. There are power inlets at the back for all your electronic devices, plus mesh pocket pouches by the bed to store your valuables. With a 3 meter head height and heavy duty netting, the tipis offer great style, bug protection and a cool breeze.

The tipis can be set up as twins with two single beds for you and a friend or for couples with one double bed. For added privacy and comfort, each tent has a private porch decking area and plenty of space underneath it to store your surf equipment. And just as with the bell tents, the tipis come with the same high-quality memory foam mattress that are allergy-free, high in density and super comfy. All you need to bring are a pillow, sleeping bag or bedding.

Yoga sessions in Moliets

All over the world, yoga has swept surfers off their feet with all professional surfers using yoga to improve their flexibility, core strength, and surfing performance. So, if after a long surf camp day surfing you feel like you could do with some stretching, yoga is a fantastic way to improve your flexibility and to strengthen your body.

Star Surf Camps have built a large shaded yoga platform among the trees. They run a weekly yoga schedule with two yoga sessions per day (not Saturdays). Their enthusiastic and professional yoga instructors make their sessions fun and accessible to ‘yogis’ of all levels.

Join their yoga sessions here in the Moliets surf camp and see the positive effects of yoga for yourself, your body, and your surfing. Choose from 3, 5, or 10 yoga sessions per surf camp week. They will provide exercise equipment during the sessions free of charge.

The yoga instructors offer a variety of yoga styles in different settings. Besides the yoga sessions on the yoga deck in the surf camp, Star Surf Camps also hold regular yoga sessions on the beach during sunset.

Learn to surf in warm water and amazing waves

Between April and October, the coastline around Moliets-Plage is hit by consistent summer swells that offer great surfing conditions for both beginner and intermediate surfers.

The surf deluxe holiday package with a 6 session surf course is the most popular surf camp package here in Moliets. These include 4x 90 minutes of practical surf lessons on Moliets-Plage, the beach just outside the surf camp, 1x 90 minutes of breath and balance workshop as well as 1x 90 minutes of surf theory in the surf camp, teaching you about water safety, rip currents and the intricacies of French beach breaks.

Surf course and surf instructors

During your weeks’ surf course, the surf instructors teach you the essentials of surfing, such as how to paddle into waves, catch waves, stand up, and control your surfboard. They use ‘foamies’ for their surf lessons which are great for beginners to catch the most waves.

All of the surf instructors are qualified, fully licensed in the country they teach surfing in, and have a lifeguarding qualification. They have a good understanding of the wave conditions and local surf spots and are always ready to lend you a helping hand.

The maximum group size for the surf lessons is eight surfers per instructor, plus one surf assistant if required. The use of surf equipment (surfboard, leash, and wetsuit) is included in your surf lessons. Your first surf lesson will be on Sunday. Everyone will meet at the surf tent for an introduction and wetsuit allocation on the morning of your first day surfing. Star Surf Camps will divide all surfers into beginner and intermediate groups. Your surf lesson times are displayed on the notice board in the surf camp.

3 surf course levels

Beginner surf course

Perfect for those of you who have never surfed before or have only done a few surf lessons / a surf course, but have not surfed in a while and would benefit from starting with the basics. You will be learning the technique of paddling, standing up on a surfboard in white water, and how to get the timing right to catch a wave.

Improver surf course

The right choice for those of you who have done several surf lessons or courses and have good confidence in the white water and an understanding of the basics: paddling, standing up on a surfboard, and catching a wave. The focus of the improver courses is on learning how to steer your surfboard with the right technique in both directions and on how to create speed.

Intermediate surf course

Ideal for those of you who already have good confidence in the water, experience “out back” surfing green waves, and can perform maneuvers, like bottom and top turns. You have a good level of fitness and an understanding of currents. You will focus on more advanced surfing techniques, and participants use the premium range of surfboards with the most experienced surf instructors

Surf lesson upgrade

If you’re looking to spend more time surfing when on surf holidays with them in Moliets, you can add the surf lesson upgrade during the booking process. The surf lesson upgrade includes 2x 90 minutes of additional surf lessons in the water with the surf team. If the conditions are right, Star Surf Camps will schedule at least one of these sessions at sunrise or sunset. Suited to both beginner and intermediate surfers, the surf lesson upgrade allows for more time in the water with your surf instructor to further improve your surfing skills.

Surf equipment hire

You can now rent your own surfboard, wetsuit, and leash while on surfing holidays with them in their Moliets surf camp. With Plage de Moliets only a short walk from the surf camp, you can go surfing in your own time whenever you please and make the most of your surfing holidays in Southwest France. You will have a good range of beginner surfboards in the surf camp. For safety reasons, all rental surfboards are soft ‘foamie’ surfboards, not hard surfboards. If you’re an intermediate to advanced surfer, Star Surf Camps recommend you bring your own equipment.

Note

Participants should be 18 years old.
When they travel with their parents and want surf lessons, they will have to be 12 years old to join group surf lessons.
If they are between 8-12 year travelling with their parents, they will need to have private surf lessons.
Anyone under 8 will not be able to have surf lessons but can still join the camp.

Your holiday takes place very close to the lively little town of Moliets on a bigger campsite, surrounded by other surf camps and normal holiday guests. It is about 300 meters away from the beach and right among the lovely pine trees of one of the famous South-West of France pine forests.

The famous Moliets Surf Camp is located in the vibrant town of Moliets-Plage on the southwest coast of France. Just north of Hossegor, Europe’s surfing capital, Moliets is close to the Basque Country and northern Spain.

The Moliets camp is well-known for the "Good Vibes" camp: during the day everyone chills in camp or mostly at the beach and in the evening, you will start the night off with live acoustic acts and then move into town to visit the vibrant local bars! This camp offers the perfect mix of surfing, relaxing, and partying. It is a very international camp, with people coming from all around the world, and a great place to make new friends.

Breakfasts and picnic lunches

Every morning between 09:00 and 11:00, the surf camp team prepares a breakfast buffet for you with teas, coffee, juices, milk and cereals, fresh bread, cakes, a variation of spreads and jams, cheese and cold meats as well as fresh fruit. At breakfast, the surf camp guests can also prepare their packed lunches, sandwiches, and salads for the day at the beach.

Please remember to bring a Tupperware box and cutlery to help reduce plastic and packaging waste.

Dinners in the surf camp

On 4 nights of your surf holiday week at around 19:00, the on-site chef prepares a fresh dinner for you that all guests and the surf camp team enjoy together. There are vegetarian and vegan options available upon request. And if you have any allergies or other dietary requirements, please let them know during the booking process.

Every Sunday, they invite you to join their traditional wine and cheese night where you will sample local wines and cheeses - one of the surf camp week highlights.

Eat out nights

There will be 3 ‘eat out’ nights per week where Star Surf Camps encourage you to visit one of the local restaurants here in Moliets-Plage. There are plenty of eateries on offer literally just a stone’s throw from the campsite.

From traditional French cuisine to seafood, pizzas, burgers, churros, and ice cream, they promise you you won’t go hungry. There are also several bakeries and supermarkets on Moliets-Plage’s high street for you to stock up on treats and drinks during the day.

Please note that Star Surf Camps do not serve breakfasts on Saturdays due to early departures and late arrivals of many guests on change-over days.

Just 20 kilometers south of the French border, along with the crystal clear coast of the beautiful Bay of Biscay, lies the vibrant city of San Sebastián. The gorgeous harbor, lively city center and grand Spanish plazas give the city a glamorous and sophisticated atmosphere by day, while uncountable busy tapas bars and numerous energetic night clubs make for its flirtatious and crazy vibe at night.

Join Star Surf Camps on a fantastic day trip away from the surf to this city you’ll be falling in love with! Leaving your Moliets Surf Camp after your surf lessons, you start your San Sebastián day trip in the afternoon with cool sangrias, delicious tapas and a tour around the old part of town and its bars.

Once in San Sebastián, you have enough free time to explore the city on your own, go shopping, stroll through the quaint, little streets or see the stunning cathedral before making your way up to gorgeous Monte Urgull.

What sets Biarritz apart from the hundreds of other beautiful European coastal hot spots is that its beauty and charm are far from skin deep, as the city is steeped in rich culture and historical relevance with particular reference to the surfing world.

It was actually on these very beaches that the first waves in Europe were surfed when a Californian filmmaker called for his surfboard to be shipped out all the way to France after seeing the beauty and the waves on offer. Since then this city has been on an even keel of surf and sophistication. Arrival by airplane

Arrive at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (BOD). Have a look for cheap flights on Skyscanner. Star Surf Camps offers transport from Bordeaux to Moliets Camp for only 55 EUR per person one way. There are two camp shuttles a day and the exact pickup times will be informed two weeks before your arrival. The pick-up will be between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

If you are arriving at Biarittz, transfers from Biarritz airport to the camp are available for 45 EUR per person one way.

Arrival by bus

Dax to Moliets: Take the XL’R Bus from Dax Train Station to Soustons. Then take Yego Bus Line 3 to go from Soustons to Moliets.

Arrival by train

Biarritz to Moliets: From Biarritz Airport, walk to the train station (20 minutes). Then take a train to St-Vincent-de-Tyrosse, Bus Line 2 to Soustons and Bus Line 3 to Moliets. This route is about 3 and half hours long.

Bordeaux to Moliets: Take a taxi or shuttle bus to the SNCF Train Station (shuttles leave every 20 minutes and cost 5 EUR) to take a train to Dax (every hour). Then take Bus Line 2 to Soustons and Bus Line 3 to Moliets.
