All bell tents have a center pole, and an interior mesh zip curtain behind the door curtains and come with mash windows at the base for better ventilation. The tents are tall enough to stand a surfboard in and wide enough for some morning yoga stretches.

A good night’s sleep is key when spending your days outside in the sun and in the water. That’s why they provide all surf camp guests with a single, high-quality memory foam mattress – no need to bring an inflatable mattress or camping mat! All mattresses are allergy-free, high-density, and super comfy. All you need to bring along on your surf trip is a pillow, sleeping bag, or bedding.

Bell tents for 2: Ideal for couples or two friends traveling together

If you’re going on surf holidays with your partner or friend and would like a private tent for just the two of you, you can upgrade to one of the private bell tents for two surf holiday guests here in the Moliets surf camp during the booking process. Private Bell Tent options are the same spacious 8-man tipi tents and come with high-quality mattresses, either as two singles or one double.

Bell tent for 1: Ideal for solo travelers

If you’re joining the Moliets surf camp on your own and you would like your own private tent, then that’s no problem with the private bell tent for 1 option. You are staying in one of the spacious 8-man bell tents on a high-quality double mattress.

Bell tents PLUS+: Bed frames, lights, and electricity for 2

Bell Tents PLUS+ upgrade gets you that little bit of extra comfort when camping with raised wooden bed frames, an electrical socket, and lighting during your Moliets surf holidays. Bell Tents PLUS+ option is for 2 surf camp guests with a choice of two single or one double mattress.

Add bedding: Travel light and stay warm

Be extra comfortable on your Moliets surf holiday! If you wish to travel light and still be nice and warm at night, you can add the bedding option and get yourself a pillow, duvet, sheet, and covers to stay nice and warm at night.

Can you rent bedding?

Yes, if you're planning on traveling light, you can rent bedding for the duration of your surf holidays. You can add the bedding option during the booking process.

Welcome to Star Surf Camps Moliets

  • Good vibes and fun times in France

The original Moliets surf camp is pitched in the beautiful pine forests of Southwest France with the beach and town of Moliets-Plage just outside the campsite. They opened the surf camp doors here in Moliets in 2010 and are celebrating 13 years of delivering amazing surf holidays here in Moliets this summer.

In the surf camp here in Moliets they host small and large groups of friends, couples, and solo travelers. In true Star Surf Camp fashion, the surf camp team lives onsite together with the surf holiday guests. Star Surf Camps are the only international surf camp in Moliets and they are proud to host surfers and surf holidaymakers from all over the world.

  • Your week in Moliets

They’ve got a busy surf holiday week planned for you here in Moliets with live music events and open mic nights, the legendary Pub Quiz, a fancy-dress flunky ball tournament, a traditional French wine and cheese eve, a starlit outdoor surf movie night, pub crawls in Moliets’ local bars and many, many other fantastic opportunities to mix and mingle with other surfers in- and outside the surf camp.

Then there are beach games, volleyball, table tennis tournaments, slip-n-slide, or skate competitions. You can be sure the fun-loving Moliets surf camp team always comes up with ideas to keep you and your friends entertained and smiling.

Learn to surf in warm water and amazing waves

Between April and October, the coastline around Moliets-Plage is hit by consistent summer swells that offer great surfing conditions for both beginner and intermediate surfers.

The Surf Chill package is the most popular surf camp package here in Moliets. Surf camp guests receive 6 lessons in total. These include 4 90-minute practical surf lessons on Moliets-Plage, the beach just outside the surf camp, 1 90-minute breath and balance workshop as well as 1 90-minute surf theory in the surf camp, teaching you about water safety, rip currents, and the intricacies of French beach breaks.

Surf course and surf instructors

During your weeks’ surf course, the surf instructors teach you the essentials of surfing such as how to paddle into waves, catch waves, stand up, and control your surfboard. They use ‘foamies’ for our surf lessons which are great for beginners to catch the most waves.

All surf instructors are qualified, fully licensed in the country they teach surfing in, and have a lifeguarding qualification. They have a good understanding of the wave conditions and local surf spots and are always ready to lend you a helping hand.

The maximum group size for the surf lessons is eight surfers per instructor plus one surf assistant if required. The use of surf equipment (surfboard, leash, and wetsuit) is included in your surf lessons.

Your first surf lesson will be on Sunday. You all meet at the surf tent for an introduction and wetsuit allocation on the morning of your first day surfing. They divide all surfers into beginner and intermediate groups. Your surf lesson times are displayed on the notice board in the surf camp.

3 surf course levels

  • Beginner surf course

Perfect for those of you who have never surfed before or have only done a few surf lessons/a surf course, but have not surfed in a while and would benefit from starting with the basics. You will be learning the technique of paddling, standing up on a surfboard in white water, and how to get the timing right to catch a wave.

  • Improver surf course

The right choice for those of you who have done several surf lessons or courses and have good confidence in the white water and an understanding of the basics: paddling, standing up on a surfboard, and catching a wave. The focus of the improver courses is on learning how to steer your surfboard with the right technique in both directions and on how to create speed.

  • Intermediate surf course

Ideal for those of you who already have good confidence in the water, experience “outback” surfing green waves, and can perform maneuvers, such as bottom and top turns. You have a good level of fitness and an understanding of currents. You will focus on more advanced surfing techniques, and participants use the premium range of surfboards with the most experienced surf instructors

More surfing options

  • Surf lesson upgrade

If you’re looking to spend more time surfing when on surf holidays with us in Moliets, you can add the surf lesson upgrade during the booking process. The surf lesson upgrade includes 2 90-minute additional surf lessons in the water with the surf team. If the conditions are right, they schedule at least one of these sessions at sunrise or sunset.

Suited to both beginner and intermediate surfers, the surf lesson upgrade allows for more time in the water with your surf instructor to further improve your surfing skills.

  • Surf equipment hire

You can now rent your own surfboard, wetsuit, and leash while on surfing holidays in the Moliets surf camp. With Plage de Moliets only a short walk from the surf camp, you can go surfing in your own time whenever you please and make the most of your surfing holidays in Southwest France.

They have a good range of beginner surfboards in the surf camp. For safety reasons, all rental surfboards are soft ‘foamie’ surfboards, not hard surfboards. If you are an intermediate to advanced surfer, they recommend you bring your own surf equipment.

Yoga in the surf camp: Revitalize your mind with yoga

Yoga has swept surfers off their feet with most professional surfers practicing yoga to help improve flexibility, core strength, and surfing performance. After a long day surfing, yoga is a fantastic way to improve your flexibility and strengthen your body.

They have built a large shaded yoga platform among the trees. They run a weekly yoga schedule with two yoga sessions per day (not Saturdays). The enthusiastic and professional yoga instructors make their sessions fun and accessible to ‘yogis’ of all levels. Once a week, go down to the beach for an evening yoga session at sunset.

Join the yoga sessions in the Moliets surf camp and see the positive effects of yoga for yourself, your body, and your surfing. Choose from 3, 5, or 10 yoga sessions per surf camp week. They provide exercise equipment during the sessions free of charge.

Moliets surf camp check-ins

The surf camp weeks in Moliets run from Saturdays to Saturdays. Check-in is open from 4 p.m. Should you wish to arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the surf camp and explore the town or beach. At check-in, you receive a Star Surf Camps wristband and are seen in your tent. They also ask you to pay the ‘Taxe de Sejour’, the French tourism tax (0.75 EUR per person/day) in cash when checking in.

Do you need to bring your own surf equipment?

You are welcome to, but there is no need. If you book the most popular surf package here in Moliets, for example, the use of all surf equipment (wetsuit, leash, and surfboard) is included during your surf lesson time. Outside of lesson time, they offer surf equipment rental (wetsuit, leash, and surfboard) for the duration of your surf holiday week.

They have a good range of beginner foam surfboards in the surf camp. If you’re an intermediate to advanced surfer and are used to surfing hard boards, they recommend you bring your own equipment.

You're thinking of traveling on your own. Is the surf camp suitable for solo travelers?

Yes, yes, and YES! The surf camp is perfect for solo travelers. The mix of multicultural and multilingual guests and staff combined with a laid-back atmosphere makes the camp the ideal place to feel at home and get to know people. They get lots of comments about the positive camp vibes and they have seen many guests make friends for life at the camps. So, if you can't convince your friends to join, don't worry, you’ll make plenty of new ones at camp.

How old do you have to be to join the surf camps?

Typically guests are 18+, but if you are aged 16 and 17, you may be able to visit if you travel with a suitable guardian who is 18 or older or can provide a parental consent form. Best to get in touch and they can advise you further.

Can you bring your own surfboard?

Of course! The surf camp tents are big enough to keep your own surf equipment in should you wish to bring it. Flight operators usually charge additional luggage fees for taking surfboards, so please check with your flight operator's Large Sports Luggage policy before arriving at the airport to avoid costly fees.

When can you arrive at the surf camp in Moliets?

They recommend you arrive at our Moliets Surf Camp on a Saturday because that's when the surf camp week schedule starts and they really wouldn't want you to miss any of the amazing welcome entertainment. If you cannot get to the surf camp on a Saturday, they recommend you arrive on Sunday morning at the latest, so you don't miss your first surf lesson in the afternoon.

Note

  • Participants should be 18 years old
  • When they travel with their parents and want surf lessons, they will have to be 12 years old to join group surf lessons
  • If they are between 8-12 years traveling with their parents, they will need to have private surf lessons.
  • Anything under 8, will not be able to have surf lessons but can still join the camp.

Location

Camping les Cigales, your campsite

The surf camp here in Moliets-Plage is part of a larger campsite that also hosts other surf camps and holidaymakers. The campsite is 3-star-rated and has a reception, parking, playgrounds, sports courts, and multiple shower and toilet blocks. The surf camp is made up of shaded eating and entertainment areas, raised chill-out platforms, a large skate ramp, a cool three-tier outdoor cinema, a tiki bar, hammocks, and a large covered yoga deck.

The beach, Plage de Moliets

Plage de Moliets, your local surf beach, is a short, ten-minute walk from the campsite. During the summer months, the coastline around the Southwest of France offers great wave conditions for beginner surfers and intermediate surfers alike. Hit by consistent summer swells, Moliets-Plage is ideal for first-time surfers and everyone wanting to improve their existing surf skills. And with a qualified team of international surf instructors, you can be sure to be in good hands and learning from the best.

Does it make sense to rent a car?

You certainly don't need a car when on surfing holidays at Moliets Surf Camp. If you are bringing your own surfboard and plan to free surf along France's southwest coast, they do recommend you hire a car. Some public transport companies may also refuse to take large sports equipment on busy routes. There are rental car companies in each airport. However, booking in advance is often much cheaper.

Breakfasts and picnic lunches

Every morning between 9 and 11 a.m., the surf camp team prepares a breakfast buffet for you with teas, coffee, juices, milk and cereals, fresh bread, cakes, a variety of spreads and jams, cheese, and cold meats as well as fresh fruit. At breakfast, surf camp guests can also prepare their packed lunches, sandwiches, and salads, for the day at the beach. Please remember to bring a Tupperware box and cutlery to help reduce plastic and packaging waste.

Dinners in the surf camp

They have vegetarian and vegan options available upon request. If you have any allergies or other dietary requirements, please let them know during the booking process. Every Sunday, they invite you to join the traditional wine and cheese night where they sample local wines and cheeses – one of the surf camp week highlights.
