Itinerary
Day 1: Colombo Airport - Weligama Bay
Once you arrive at Colombo International Airport (CMB), Sri Lankan Tour Hub’s guides will pick you up from the airport. Then, you will directly be transferred to the surf camp in Weligama, Sri Lanka via E01 Sothern Express Highway.
On this day, the guides will show you the city and beach around Weligama. You will check-in and meet the team. There, you will enjoy seafood beach barbecue local foods and Sri Lankan style cocktails. Afterward, you can visit a beach or take a rest as you wish.
Day 2: Weligama Bay - PADI discover diving and theory lessons - sun set surf lesson (5 p.m.)
You will begin your day by enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily). You will have a beginners diving lessons or professional dive guiding at a diving school near the beach for almost three hours. You can collect your basic equipment and start your practice with the diving teacher.

- Learn safety and how to use equipment
You will have buffet for lunch. In the spare time, you may relax on the beach, go snorkeling, or go shopping, After 5 p.m., you are free to practice surfing with a My Surf Camp surf instructor till the sun go down at 6:30 p.m.
You will also be provided with surfboards for free surfing in the evening. You also have a chance to see an evening sunset at the same point as well.

Level 1 surfing lesson
Level 1 surfing lesson is designed for the complete beginner and for those who have not tried surfing and have not been able to catch a wave by themselves. You will learn surfing with the right techniques accompanied with friendly and experienced surfing instructors of the My Surf Camp. One instructor will guide a maximum of two persons. This is for first-timers; this shorter beginner's class is recommended, as surfing is a physically demanding sport and can be quite tiring!
After this, you will have your dinner with the barbecue on the beach. You can have your rest or go to the party and enjoy music in the night as per your choice.
Day 3: Mirissa Moray Point (2 dives) - back to Weligama Beach
Mirissa Moray Point is just outside of Mirissa Harbour. Spotted are, among many others, angelfish, parrotfish, groupers and giant bufferfish, whale shark, turtle, and triggerfish. Maximum depth is at 17 meters.
Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and western foods changing daily as you wish. This will be day seven of your diving career, so slap on the sunscreen, take your theory and practical lesson at the theater (the theory is every day and can be before or after the dive session), jump in a vehicle, and head to the dive school for either a lesson or guided dive in Mirissa Moray Point.
After discover diving, you will visit Mirissa beach restaurants for have lunch. In the spare time, you may relax on the beach, go snorkeling, or go shopping. You also have a chance to see an evening sunset at the same point as well.
After this, you will have your dinner with the barbecue on the beach. You can have your rest or go to the party and enjoy music in the night as per your choice.
Day 4: Weligama - surfing lesson - move to Kirinda (Down South)
Level 2 surfing lesson
Level 2 surfing lesson is designed for the surfers who can catch a wave in the white water but want to continue to progress their surfing and learn safety tips, tricks, how to go to the lineup, how to catch a green wave properly, and turn so they can improve from a beginner surfing level to an intermediate one.
After your breakfast, you will have a surfing lesson or professional surf guiding at the campsite in Weligama beach surf spot. My Surf Camp will provide you with surfboards for free surfing today as well. Private lessons are available in the morning.
Before lunch time, you will travel to another dive site in Kirinda. You will see other beaches and surf spots such as Matara, Hiriketiya, Tangalle, and Hambantota. The guide will arrange you lunch on the beach on the way to Kirinda.
This excursion is for the next dive camp center and then you will move to watch Kirinda beach, historical temple dive shop, and accommodation. You will also have a chance to feel an evening sunset at the same point. You will have your dinner at Kirinda Beach and come back to your accommodation.
Day 5: Explore Kirinda (2 dives) - stay in Kirinda
Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily as you wish). This will be day five of your diving career, so slap on the sunscreen, take your theory and practical lesson at the theater (the theory is every day and can be before or after the dive session), jump in a vehicle, and head to the dive school for either a lesson or guided SLCG divers in Endless Under Water Treasure and Caves Around The Basses.
After dives, you can chill in the afternoon with some beach games and act. You may explore Kirinda more, relax at the beach, or choose one of the optional adventures for you to do in the afternoons if you don’t feel like getting tired again.
You will have your dinner on the beach of the adventure dive campsites. You can have your rest or go to enjoy the DJ music as per your choice.
Day 6: Kirinda - back to Weligama - tour end
You will have breakfast in the morning. After all the lessons are finished, hopefully you will be able to catch your own dive at your own dives spot. Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. Grab some photos to show off to your friends. Make sure you’ve got everyone on Facebook and Instagram and say goodbye to your dive camp family. They miss you already.

Ranga Shrimal
Ranga Shrimal is a host, the founder, and managing director of Lankan Tour Hub (Pvt) Ltd. He loves to meet friends from all around the world and make them his good friends for a lifetime. He was born in Negombo in 1988. He has always liked to surf and live near the beach and nature. His home now is also located within the mountain range. There, he always finds peace through his meditation sessions. Ranga looks forward to welcoming you very much, and to talking and relaying the many things that he has learned in life, and at the same time learning too.
Sahan Damayantha
Sahan is a PADI Diving Instructor (License S407801). He was born in Weligama, a local Sri Lankan who knows all about the local scene and the diving instructing. He will make sure that everything is perfect for you to enjoy a great diving holiday in Sri Lanka. Currently, he is a diving instructor of a 5-star dive center in Weligama and your dive host as well as diving instructor since 2015. He loves to teach clients how to practice diving, offering great company at his place and an insight into my breathtaking culture.
Location
This dive camp will take place at Weligama Bay Diving Center in Weligama, Sri Lanka. The camp is located near the beach that will give you easy access to the surfing spots. It is also less crowded, giving you a hassle-free time to learn surfing properly or enjoy the waves to the fullest. As well as sunrise surf, the sunset surf is the most awesome experience to do.
Here is also one of the best places to go dolphin watching during the whale season: November - April.
The surf camp will take place at My Surf Camp Surf School in Weligama, Sri Lanka. The camp is located on the beach that will give you easy access to the surfing spots. It is also less crowded, giving you a hassle-free time to learn surfing properly or enjoy the waves to the fullest. As well as sunrise surf, the sunset surf is the most awesome experience to do.
Kirinda
There is a rocky outcrop from which one can enjoy a magnificent view of this desolate coast with its long stretch of golden beach and sand dunes with the great blue ocean beyond. On a sunny day, the lighthouse on the Great Basses Reef appear like a needle in the far distance.
Kirinda beach and diving
Kirinda is an ideal place to experience scuba diving during the inter monsoon period. The archaeologically important diving spots, caves, and the Long Basses reef with crystal clear water, vertical walls, shallow water soft corals, and also the long sandy beach gives any recreational diver a mesmerizing inspiration to enjoy an unforgettable experience in the pristine waters of Kirinda.
Kirinda dive sites
The geographical and geological conditions of the area around the Great and Little Basses reef resulted in many unknown sailors going down with their ships and belongings in these blue waters. Hence, there are many identified archaeologically important old ship wreck sites around the Basses site and there also exists many unknown sites waiting to be discovered.
Wreck sites around the Basses
This is a shallow site very close to the reef opposite the Silver Coin wreck. Mr. Peter Throckmorton and Dr. Arthur C. Clarke found this wreck of the early British period. According to history, a ship had docked at Port of Galle in its eastward passage to collect a shipment of soda bottles from a company by the name of "Clarek and Company" which supplies pointed - bottom soda bottles.
The remnants of the mysterious bottle wreck lies on the land side of the Great Basses ridge. This wreck is very badly deteriorated because of the shallow water and residual surge conditions.
The wreck is almost integrated into a reef and the only well-defined objects are two large anchors. Only a very few bottles from its original cargo remain as most bottles have been taken away by treasure hunters. The two large anchors also face danger of being removed by treasure hunters.
Caves around the Basses
The Basses reef is the best place to go cave diving in Sri Lanka. The magnificent natural features like ravines, pillars, pinnacles, caves, and sand pockets surrounded by high wall corals and crevices created by the heavy currents and surge conditions though out the year entice divers to tirelessly discover its wonders and surprises. Even during the annual season, this place tends to contain some current. However, if one wants to enjoy cave diving in Sri Lanka, this would be the ideal location to have a life time experience.
Marine ecology
This is the place to see varieties of fish like groupers, moray eels, lobsters, tuna, angelfish, rays, napoleons, coneys, red hind, snappers, parrot fish, and millions of other denizens of the ocean. While moving through these waters, you can see festoons of black corals and deep water sea fans. Watch out for sea turtles at the Basses. Hawkbill turtles and green turtles are frequently observed here resting in the protection of a ledge.

- Foreign and local diving expeditions are allowed only under SLCG supervision to ensure no treasure hunting
Coast Guard Diving Center takes action towards protecting underwater archaeologically valid dive site and other wrecks around basses reef. These significant areas marked with buoys allow underwater photography only in limited areas.
Foreign and local recreational divers are allowed diving only under the supervisions of SLCG divers to ensure no treasure hunting and vandalism.
