This recently discovered bay is described by all who visit as ‘Paradise’. Hiriketiya Bay is, without doubt, the premier beach of South Sri Lanka. Away from the commercialized tourist zones, Hiriketiya bay feels like a home away from home. Nearby undiscovered bays make the far south coast a hidden gem of swimming, walking and biking trails. Prevailing easterly or westerly winds are kept away by the horseshoe shape of the bay, making swimming and surfing conditions safe all year round.
It is located 22 km (14 mi) east of the city of Matara. Dickwella is noted for its long sandy beach which is protected by headlands, reefs, and sand-bars, making it safer for swimming. Distance from Tuk Tuk Bay - 20 minutes (11 km).
