Level 1 surfing lesson
Level 1 surfing lesson is designed for the complete beginner and for those who have tried surfing a few times but have not been able to catch a wave by themselves. You will learn surfing with the right techniques accompanied by friendly and experienced surfing instructors of The Surfer Weligama. One instructor will guide a maximum of two persons.
Daily itinerary
Day 1: Colombo Airport - Weligama Bay
Once you arrive at Colombo International Airport (CMB), Lankan Tour Hub (Pvt) Ltd.’s guides will pick you up from the airport. Then, you will be directly transferred to the surf camp in Weligama, Sri Lanka via E01 Sothern Express Highway.
This day, the guides will be going to show you the city and beach around Weligama. You will check in and meet the team. There, you will enjoy a seafood beach barbecue, local foods, and Sri Lankan-style cocktails. Afterward, you can visit a beach party with DJ music or take a rest as you wish.
Day 2: Weligama Beach - two basic surf lessons
You will begin your day by enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and Western foods (changing daily). You will have a surfing lesson or professional surf guiding at My Surf Camp Surf School on the beach for almost two hours. You can collect your basic surfboard and start your practice with the surf teacher. You will have your buffet for lunch.
In your spare time, you may relax on the beach, go snorkeling, or you are free to practice surfing with the surf teacher in the afternoon. On this day, two surf lessons are included. You can go watch the evening sunset locations on the beach and do yoga with a yoga teacher till the sun goes down. In the evening, you will enjoy a barbecue grilled dinner or Sri Lankan food and take a rest.
Day 3: Weligama Beach - one basic surf lesson
Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and Western foods (changing daily as you wish). This will be day two of your surfing career, so slap on the sunscreen, take your theory and practical lesson at the theater (the theory is every day and can be before or after the surf session), jump in a tuk-tuk, and head to the surf school for either a lesson or guided surf.
After this day's morning surf, all the lessons are finished and hopefully, you will catch your own waves on your own at a surf spot. Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. Grab some photos in My Surf Camp to show off to your friends. Make sure you have got everyone on Facebook and say goodbye to your surf camp family. They miss you already.

Ranga Shrimal
Ranga Shrimal is a host, the founder, and managing director of Lankan Tour Hub (Pvt) Ltd. He loves to meet friends from all around the world and make them his good friends for a lifetime. He was born in Negombo in 1988. He has always liked to surf and live near the beach and nature. His home now is also located within the mountain range. There, he always finds peace through his meditation sessions. Ranga looks forward to welcoming you very much, and to talking and relaying the many things that he has learned in life, and at the same time learning too.
Location
This surf camp will take place at My Surf Camp Surf School in Weligama, Sri Lanka. The camp is located on the beach which will give you easy access to the surfing spots. It is also less crowded, giving you a hassle-free time to learn to surf properly or enjoy the waves to the fullest. As well as sunrise surf, the sunset surf is the most awesome experience to do.
Jungle beach surf spots
Jungle Beach is between Weligama and Midigama and is tucked away from the main road so you have to look for it. It is best to stay local, and there are some great guest houses nearby. Overlooked by Super Luxury, Cape Weligama Hotel, there are not so many surfers staying here so it is great at daybreak before any other surfers turn up from 7:00 a.m.
There is a main left-hand break with a similar form to Lazy Left Midigama only not as lazy, and there is a right that works well from January to March. The left holds to seven feet with, long 500-meter rides. It is mainly deep but has a very shallow reef in parts, so check with a local if you are not sure and it can be a bit gnarly in the rough sea.
Weligama Beach surf spot and beach break
Surrounded by golden beaches, excellent warm water, and surfing conditions; Sri Lanka has become popular among surfers from all over the world in recent years. My Surf Camp Surf School is located right in the epicenter of 10 surf spots for all surfing levels within a four-kilometer distance in either direction. The best surf spots in the country are just on the beach surf camp.
