Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel

Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel is a full-service hotel located on the outskirts of Belize City, 3 miles from downtown near the airport. The Biltmore has a business center, beautifully landscaped courtyard, swimming pool, great restaurant, bar, gym, gift shop, tour desk, and internet cafe. It’s perfect for guests who arrive one day early, stay one day late, or who have just a few extra hours in the city.

"Best of Belize" Beach Cabanas

Featured on the cover of Outside magazine, Long Caye resort was built to preserve the island in its natural state, something the best hotels in Belize can't claim, and the lodge facilities are kept rustic by design. Guests love their thatch-roofed cabanas, each complete with a porch overlooking the coral atoll of Glover's Reef.

This is the most luxurious island "base camp" you've ever seen! This spacious island (13.5 acres) and rustic facilities ensure your comfort without compromising the adventure of living on an undeveloped and uncrowded island. You'll notice the windows on these beach huts don't have screens and they don't use mosquito netting. This is because they have a rare island in Belize where bugs really aren't a problem and when they are present, they treat the mosquitoes so that they go away. And best of all, a hammock with your name on is waiting under the palms.

Guests stay in two-four person beach huts, perched above the surf. Each cabana has beds in the main part of the cabana, and a large porch with hammocks and lounge chairs. Luggage benches and a small closet are provided and the cabins are lit with solar-powered lights. No air-conditioning is necessary since the ever-present breeze keeps the temperatures well below what they are on the mainland. There is no plumbing in the cabanas.

Day 1

Fly to Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE). You will meet Slickrock Adventures at Glover's Reef group at the Belize Biltmore Hotel (15-minute cab ride from airport) for an orientation at 17:30 followed by dinner and lodging.

Day 2

After group breakfast, you will walk to a private dock two blocks away and your luggage is driven over for you. From Belize City, you will travel for 3.5 hours with a private shuttle boat to Long Caye (65 miles). A tour of the island is followed by lunch. You will then move into your cabana and after a short rest you will complete snorkel orientation which includes a swim-to-snorkel for about an hour after the brief instructional session.

Day 3

Coffee starts at 06:00. After breakfast, you will begin your day with a sea kayak orientation, covering paddle strokes, entering and exiting the kayak for snorkeling, and the T-rescue. After lunch, one guide leads snorkeling from the kayaks while another guide teaches surf kayaking. Certified divers may begin diving at anytime.

Day 4

After a delicious breakfast, discover scuba package is offered for beginning divers, and another kayak-snorkel excursion is offered as well. Both windsurfing and paddle boarding orientations are offered this afternoon if the weather permits. You may join one or both and then continue to practice these sports with or without a guide for the rest of the week.

Day 5

Go paddle boarding (kite sailing if wind permits) and have a 6-mile round-trip from Middle Caye to tour the island and the Marine Research Center, a base for researching marine scientists. You can also choose “island time” and sea kayak, snorkel, dive, surf kayak, windsurf, or surf with your buddy.

Day 6

The last day is always the best. If conditions permit, Slickrock Adventures often offers one final dive or snorkel to “The Wall”, a world famous dive site that was Jasques Couteau's favorite.

After lunch, you will take your shuttle to Belize City. Your arrival time cannot be predicted because it depends on factors out of Slickrock Adventures' control. Therefore, you should not make plans for Saturday night. After arriving at the Biltmore, you are on yo own for dinner.

Day 7

You will fly home at the earliest day or continue to other spots in Belize.

Note: You will be accompanied by 3 to 8 staff (depends on group size).

  • 6-miles round trip to Middle Caye
  • Tour the island and the Marine Research Center

Tucked into a forgotten corner of the Caribbean, Belize has remained apart from the growth of the rest of the region. Belize is located in Central America. The place harbors the region’s last unspoiled marine and rainforest environments and offers some of the most exciting adventure travel anywhere. Belize is also inexpensive to get to and easy to travel in. English is the official language, and USD are accepted throughout the country. There are enough incredible places to explore to keep you coming back for years to come.

Don't expect a traditional hotel on this private island. On Long Caye, development means 16 cabanas on the beach, a well-stocked kitchen, solar-powered water pumps, a composting toilet, three dozen sea kayaks, a bunch of sailboards, surf boards, fishing and surf kayaks, and a dive shop (the only thing not owned by Slickrock Adventures).

There is no maid service or internet and there are no air conditioners or flush toilets. But, there is a fridge permanently loaded with Fantas and Belikin beer. It all represents the best side of adventure travel - right down to the Belizean guides who guide you to new snorkel spots all day and then join you for dinner. Long Caye at Glover's Reef, Belize rivals Half Moon Caye in beauty and is much less visited. Long Caye is just a drop in the ocean. Other Belize resorts cannot compete with this location.

During your surf camp, all of your meals will be served in buffet style.
