This course is for you if you are serious about learning to kite and would like to commit to a full package from complete beginner to independent kitesurfer. Here, SKC Muizenberg will cover everything you need to know about kitesurfing, from zero to hero. The Muize Bed and Breakfast is located literally across the road from the beach, where you can enjoy the world-famous hospitality. It is a family-owned-and-run guest house located in Muizenberg, Cape Town. Situated on the Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve with mountain, sea, and river views, this birdwatchers paradise is your perfect home away from home. The house is a newly-renovated grand old dame from a former time.
The house has been neatly refurbished and the rooms are artfully finished to accommodate the holiday traveler or business person. With high-speed internet (20 Mbps line) available free to all guests and large, comfortable, and luxurious beds, The Muize Bed and Breakfast is positive that you will enjoy your stay there. The rooms are very comfortable with private en-suite bathrooms.
Your kitesurfing schedule runs from Sunday to Saturday for seven days traditionally. However, feel free to contact SKC Muizenberg to customize your package if you need. The Sunrise Kitesurf Community is designed around people wanting to learn to kitesurf. SKC Muizenberg will take you through five days of instructor-led courses and supervised kitesurfing sessions. This program is designed to get you from zero to hero in the shortest time frame possible.
You will have an experienced kitesurf instructor with you at all times during your time in the water. The instructors will meet with you in the mornings, take you through your preparations for the day, then out onto the beach for your daily lessons. Your kitesurf instructor will become your best friend over the next few days with SKC Muizenberg.
You will be kitted out with the best gear available from Airush and Blade. Your instructor will ensure you are matched with the best gear for the conditions on the day. All your equipment is included in your fee and if you wish to spend more time in the water, then feel free to inquire. (unsupervised boarding is recommended for experienced riders only).
You will be collected from Cape Town International Airport (CPT) or from an alternative spot in Cape Town if requested. You will come to The Muize Bed and Breakfast where you will check-in, offload your bags, and settle in. Take the time to rest after your travels. Do not worry. SKC Muizenberg knows that Cape Town is far away from everywhere. It is one of the reasons why it is such a cool place. Meet the team, see the surroundings, grab something to eat, and relax. Tomorrow is going to be a big day.
You will first take the introductory course. This is where you will get an idea of what kiting is all about, learn about what conditions are needed, learn about hazards, learn about the wind window, fly a trainer kite, kite control and exercises, set up and break down of an ILE (inflatable leading edge) kite, learn all your safety systems. Then its time to fly the BIG KITE.
After that, time for you to hit the water and do the body dragging course. You will learn how to water relaunch, downwind body drag, sideways body drag, upwind body drag, change direction while body dragging, board recovery, body drag with your board, self-launch and land demonstration, and self-rescue. For intermediate level participants, if you have been through this before, you can use this time to re-familiarize yourself or kitesurf under supervision with one of the experienced instructors and show the team what you have got.
You will learn water starts. You will learn about the power stroke, getting the board on your feet, steady pull and balance in the water, water start, control speed and edge, coming to a controlled stop, and changing direction without stopping. If you are not yet confident to get into the water, the instructors will take you through the body drag course for more practice. You need to be confident to kitesurf safely. For intermediate level participants, you can grab some gear and show your freestyle moves.
Kitesurfing under supervision with one of the experienced instructors (a maximum of two surfers per instructor) Gear not included but rentals are available. This is a great way to get familiar with your kitesurfing equipment and learn by yourself in a supervised environment. If you are not yet confident to hit the water in this way, then you can repeat any of the aspects of the lessons you are not confident in. For intermediate level participants, you have got your gear. SKC Muizenberg will see you later when you bring back some stories to tell.
Today, you will spend time in the water, honing your skills with board and kite. The instructors will be there to supervise you through the day. This is where you now build your confidence and really get to feel what it is like to be one with your gear. SKC Muizenberg will use this opportunity to see who has what it takes to be champ for the day.
The instructors will judge you on the style, form, speed, and height with a prize giving to follow. You will also join SKC Muizenberg for an evening braai, South African style, where you will be having the prize giving, fines meeting, and issuing you with your very own certificate of amazingness!
So you now know how to kitesurf, it is time to prove it. Let's pack the gear and hit the road. You are going to go and kitesurf in two other spots around Cape Town. It will be a full day out and about. You will kitesurf under the supervision of your instructors. You will see the amazing sights of the Cape Peninsula. This will be one memorable road trip SKC Muizenberg can guarantee.
What a week it has been. You can now call yourself a kitesurfer, part of a select community of adventure-seeking individuals. SKC Muizenberg will say their fond farewells and make arrangements to meet up back in Cape Town again. Feel free to stay on longer if you wish. The instructors and equipment are available if you wish and so is the amazing hospitality. For those who need to get back to the real world, SKC Muizenberg says good-bye and 'tootsies'.

Kitesurfing is hard work. Enjoy the amazing hospitality from Daniel and his team at The Muize Bed and Breakfast. The breakfast is made to order. English-style breakfast with continental options available. Eat right, kite right! You are encouraged to explore the many fantastic restaurants and bars in the area but do not be surprised if you get invited to one of the regular evening braais.
