Shark’s Lodge is a fully renovated facility built 200 meters away from the Atlantic Ocean in the Baleal area, Peniche. It's facing a huge field which guarantees you a feeling of serenity all year round! At Shark’s Lodge, you will find of course rooms for a comfortable stay and also two pools, tennis court, an outside CrossFit box, OCR structures and even a climbing wall. The lodge has triple, twin and single rooms all with bathrooms.
Program
Shark’s week is a unique active bundle allowing you to explore Peniche, Portugal. You will not get bored with this. Your stay includes free access to five surf lessons (two hours each), five CrossFit WOD and five activities mostly in the surfing area to improve your surfing skills, and even more, we include standup paddleboarding (Surfskating, SUP) or sometimes climbing. You can relax in the pools or play tennis on the courts at all times. Shark’s Lodge creates a community of like-minded people who have the same drive as you do.
But be ready, they will treat you like friends, not clients. The instructors are a big part of their family and will guide you through mastering the Atlantic Ocean or your CrossFit wods. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, they will have your back. The program is a unique combination of activities for a memorable time in Peniche, Portugal. You start your morning with an outdoor CrossFit workout of the day (wod), followed by a surfing class.
Depending on weather conditions, in the afternoon, you will improve surfing skills in the swimming pool to accelerate your progression and go for some more practice in the ocean, we also go once a week SUP. At the end of the day, it is time to unwind and create friendships: go out for dinner in Peniche, or throw an unforgettable pool party. Do not forget that the best part of the stay is the community you get to know. It is people from all over the world who also have an active bug.

Instructors
Paulo Barbosa
Paulo is the director and co-owner of the company. He is Portuguese with over 25 years of experience in the outdoors, professional or vocational training, and expeditions. He was a technical director in the first rafting company in Portugal, director of the three first 500 kilometers adventure races, a national team member in the Eco-Challenge, coordinator for Outward Bound, and owns two adventure companies in different countries.
Location
The camp will take place in Peniche, Portugal. Peniche is known as the wave capital of Europe. Due to its exclusive geography, it is able to provide great surfing conditions more than 300 days a year. The cluster of beaches surrounding Peniche provides surfers the opportunity to choose their favorite break and whatever the swell and weather conditions and find a peak that works perfectly. These facts and more led the ASP in 2009 to choose Peniche, "Supertubos" as one of the World Surf League stops, known as the MEO Rip Curl Pro Peniche.

Discover the transparent and amazing underwater world of Berlengas, a small archipelago located about 10 kilometers west of Peniche which is classified as a nature reserve since September 3, 1981. Its marine reserve is classified as a biosphere reserve by the Council of Europe since 2011 and a world biosphere reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Trip to Berlenga
The Berlenga Nature Reserve is a unique place due to its transparent sea and underwater treasures. The archipelago consists of a large island, Berlenga Grande, and some small granite islands and rocks (Estelas and Farilhões), which are situated some seven miles off the headland of Cabo Carvoeiro to the northwest of Peniche. The island of Berlenga Grande can be seen from the mainland when there is no sea mist. Here, you will find endemic species of flora, as well as one of the preferred nesting sites for seabirds.
Built on a rock adjacent to the Berlenga Island and connected to it by a small bridge, there stands the Fort de São João Baptista, a military fortress built in 1502. The island’s tiny beaches with their clear blue water are very beautiful and ideal for swimming and diving. Access to the island is by boat, with departures from Peniche harbor. It takes roughly 30 minutes to reach Berlenga Grande.

- Take the A8 Highway towards Leiria / Porto.
- Stop at the tolls to collect a ticket and pay the next toll.
- Drive towards Peniche exiting the A8 onto the IP6.
- At the third roundabout (Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem roundabout), turn right in the direction of Baleal.
- Drive about 900 meters and then turn right to enter Sol village II.
- Take the third exit off the roundabout to arrive at Rua do Salgado, 13.
