Shark’s Lodge is a fully renovated facility built 200 meters away from the Atlantic Ocean in the Baleal area, Peniche. At Shark’s Lodge, you will find not only rooms for a comfortable stay, two pools, tennis court, an outside CrossFit box and OCR structures and even a climbing wall. The place is also facing a huge field which guarantees you a feeling of serenity all year round!
At Shark’s Lodge, you can find a place that fits your needs. They have a varied accommodation offer that includes: shared triple rooms with private bathrooms (for males and females), as well as private rooms (single, twin, and a double room).
Program
The program is a unique combination of activities for a memorable time in Peniche, Portugal. You start your morning with a breakfast, followed by a surfing class. In the afternoon you can chill by the swimming-pool and will have yoga.
At the end of the day, it's time to unwind and create friendships: go out for dinner in Peniche.

Paulo Barbosa
Paulo is the director and co-owner of the company. He is Portuguese with over 25 years of experience in the outdoors, professional or vocational training, and expeditions. He was a technical director in the first rafting company in Portugal, director of the three first 500 kilometers adventure races, a national team member in the Eco-Challenge, coordinator for Outward Bound, and owns two adventure companies in different countries.

Scuba diving
Discover the transparent and amazing underwater world of Berlengas, a small archipelago located about 10 kilometers west of Peniche which is classified as a nature reserve since September 3, 1981. Its marine reserve is classified as a biosphere reserve by the Council of Europe since 2011 and a world biosphere reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Trip to Berlenga
The Berlenga Nature Reserve is a unique place due to its transparent sea and underwater treasures. The archipelago consists of a large island, Berlenga Grande, and some small granite islands and rocks (Estelas and Farilhões), which are situated some seven miles off the headland of Cabo Carvoeiro to the northwest of Peniche. The island of Berlenga Grande can be seen from the mainland when there is no sea mist. Here, you will find endemic species of flora, as well as one of the preferred nesting sites for seabirds.
Built on a rock adjacent to the Berlenga Island and connected to it by a small bridge, there stands the Fort de São João Baptista, a military fortress built in 1502. The island’s tiny beaches with their clear blue water are very beautiful and ideal for swimming and diving. Access to the island is by boat, with departures from Peniche harbor. It takes roughly 30 minutes to reach Berlenga Grande. There is also a restaurant on the island.

Driving directions from Lisbon
- Take the A8 Highway and drive North direction Leiria / Porto.
- Stop at the tool to collect a ticket and pay for the next tool. Drive towards Peniche exiting via the IP6 off-ramp.
- At the last roundabout (Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem roundabout) and before you enter Peniche turn right in the direction of Baleal, you’ll find us, when you enter Sol village II in Rua do Salgado 13.
Arrival by airplane
From Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), you can also get a taxi, Uber, Subway or shuttle bus from the airport to the central station with the address Praça Marechal Humberto Delgado - Rua das Laranjeiras at Terminal Sete Rios and then get an “Expresso” bus to Peniche or reach the Terminal Campo Grande for Rapida Azul Bus.
Once in Peniche you can get a taxi from the bus station to Sharks Lodge.
