Join Jax Jai for a week of dance and yoga retreat in Canggu, Bali. You will experience daily Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa yoga, pranayama, and yoga Nidra. Discover the Shakti ecstatic dance, a method of awakening your primal life essence using shaking meditation; it is followed by loosely guided free movements during which you become your own healer as you dance through the temple of your body to the rocking music. You will also surrender to the floor and receive pure sound medicine through Jax' voice.
During the retreat, you will be residing at the villa of Lautan Kupu Kupu. 100 meters away from the beach and a 10-minute drive from the Echo Beach surf break, surrounded by terraced rice fields and with its marvelous ocean view, Lautan Kupu Kupu estate captures the true essence of Bali. Full of Chinese furniture and with its spacious design dominating the surroundings, the 900 square meter resort also boasts tasteful decorations which create a “home away from home” feeling.
This luxurious home delightfully pairs the old with the new, being faithful to classic Balinese architecture. At the center of the villa there is a lobby, a kitchen and a dining room that are all open to a divine 19 meter swimming pool.
Each bedroom contains a wardrobe, a fridge, a safety box, AC, a fan and either a king size bed or two single beds. The villa is in a quiet area but close to good restaurants, markets, temples and spas. Free Wi-Fi and parking spaces are available.
Jax shares a soft and strong approach to Vinyasa yoga. Moving and breathing in harmony, the emphasis is on the breath and body awareness through the use of internal locks in the body that are connected to deep breathing throughout the movements and while in the postures. The invitation is to drop into a space of feeling and being rather than doing. The postures are held for approximately eight breaths or more to give the body time to open and relax within the structure of the practice.
Known as the yoga that brings union to the pairs of opposites, Hatha is the term given to all physical yoga. In the West, it tends to be used to describe a gentle yoga practice. Hatha yoga includes asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), bandhas (locks), and shatkarmas (internal cleansing practices). It prepares the body and mind for meditation. These can be used separately or done together to form a complete yoga routine that creates a healthy and balanced body and mind.
Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique from the Tantric tradition, a deep relaxation for the body, mind and emotions and is a form of pratyahara (sense withdrawal) that prepares you for deeper states of meditation. It is a state that is very relaxing and is also used to purify the samskaras, the deep impressions from the past experiences. In yoga Nidra, you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and go to the deep sleep, yet remain fully awake.
Releasing stress and other emotions trapped in the body and awakening inner vision, it is a guided process, done lying down with a light cover, in stillness, to enable a complete let-go. Yoga Nidra is a perfect complement to physical practice and a 40-minute session is said to be as effective as four hours of deep sleep.
This is an ecstatic dance method that awakens your primal life essence using shaking meditation followed by loosely guided free movements during which you become your own healer. This is a space for you to allow your body to move as it needs to move, whether in time to the music or not. At the end of the session surrender to the floor and receive pure sound medicine through Jax’ voice. This is an alcohol-free, smoke-free, shoe-free, inhibition-free, judgment-free, wild event where great music is played and no previous experience is required.
Arrival at the villa at 14:00. You will have your Yin, Vinyasa and yoga Nidra class.
Every morning you will have your Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa yoga, pranayama and yoga Nidra class. In the evening, there will be Shakti ecstatic dance followed by sound healing.
In the morning you will practice Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa yoga, pranayama and yoga Nidra. Check-out is at 12:00.
This retreat will be held in the village of Canggu, Bali. Canggu is on the south west coast of Bali and is a half-hour drive from Seminyak and 40 minutes from the airport.
During the retreat, you will be served daily breakfast as well as a welcome and farewell dinner.
During the retreat, you will enjoy the bliss of traditional Balinese massage sessions. These sessions are included in the price.
Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Shakti Awakening will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the villa.
