Shaka Beach Retreat offers a Vinyasa style yoga practice in which movement is synchronized with the breath. Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called flow yoga because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance.
The breath acts as an anchor to the movement as you flow from one pose to the next, in time with an inhale or an exhale. At the end of a tiring week of surf, restorative sessions are focused on the breath with gentle movement and hands-on adjustments, which are perfect for strengthening and stretching tired surf muscles.
There is usually a mix of abilities and classes are tailored to guests' needs. Request for an active session if you are feeling pumped and ready to go. Ask for something more gentle if you are tired after a heavy week of surf.
The retreat will be held in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. Shaka Beach Retreat is located in northern Santa Teresa, a quaint, funky, and fun town with abundant cultural opportunities, delicious cuisine, and night-life.
