Puerto Viejo has been home to some of Costa Rica's most legendary surf competitions, parties, and cuisines for decades. Dozens of beach cruisers line the beach, creating a homey atmosphere for vacationers and surfers alike. Though Salsa Brava has been famed as one of the biggest waves of the Caribbean side, Playa Cocles usually dishes out a super powerful beach breaking wave as well. Best conditions come out when it receives a head high to overhead swell from the northeast. Nearby surfing spots are Salsa Brava, Playa Uva, Playa Negra, and Manzanillo.
Demarcated by Nicaragua in the north and Panama in the south, Costa Rica hugs the Caribbean Sea in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. A high plateau divides the American cordilleras in the center, bordered with low coastal lands in the east and in the west. More of half of the population live in this plain, with a volcanic fertile soil. Mangroves, marshlands, and sandy beaches characterize the Caribbean coast, 212-kilometer long. More cut and rocky, the Pacific Coast spreads out 1,016 kilometers, dotted by gulfs and peninsulas.
Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. Over 840 species of birds have been identified in Costa Rica. As is the case in much of Central America, the avian species in Costa Rica are a mix of North and South American species. The country's abundant fruit trees, many of which bear fruit year-round, are hugely important to the birds, some of whom survive on diets that consist only of one or two types of fruit.
You will be served breakfast daily, nine lunches / picnics, and four dinners. The catering will be provided at the restaurant and bar (half or full pension). The breakfast will be in a buffet style while lunch and dinner will be local flare with both Western and Eastern influences. Special meals for vegetarians or allergic people are also available.
