Combining a yoga class each day with an invigorating daily surf session, you’ll return home with a sun-kissed glow, stronger surfing skills, and a reinvigorated yoga practice.
On this yoga retreat, you will stay for 6 nights at Hotel Santa Catalina. All the rooms there have memory foam mattresses, plush pillows, and Egyptian cotton sheets. the rooms include fan, air conditioner, fridge, blow dryer, cable television, and a locked storage area. There are also a hammock and outdoor table plus chairs for the perfect relaxation spot.
All rooms have been built using natural sustainable materials including stone, slate rock, natural coal tile and tropical hardwoods, preserving the environment while providing a blissful haven for you to unwind after a day of surf and yoga.
Secluded and nestled in nature, the property backs onto the pacific ocean, giving you your own private beach at hide tide. It also offers the most spectacular view of the world-famous surf break "the point" (la punta). The accommodation offers some facilities for you such as:
Santa Catalina Retreats will give you daily yoga practices. The yoga style includes Hatha and Vinyasa. This yoga retreat will be focusing on the breath, fundamental postures, and having fun playing with new challenges. All levels are welcome as the instructors will adapt poses to suit your ability.
Yoga is also a perfect complement to surfing and it will help you develop your strength, flexibility, and balance. It is especially great for stretching out the shoulders, back, and opening the hips after your surf session.
Your yoga classes will be varied between 1 to 2 hours, with between 1 - 2 classes each day depending on your retreat. Santa Catalina Retreats will provide your mat and props, and iced water for every class. Just bring some comfortable yoga gear and you are ready to go.
To embrace the natural beauty of Santa Catalina and ground your practice, Santa Catalina Retreats often combine a class where you can get your feet in the sand. They couple beach yoga with classes in their tranquil open-air yoga shala with ocean views and their waterfront yoga deck.
You'll experience your yoga classes, listening to the calming sounds of the ocean, and the abundant sounds of wildlife all around you.
The daily surf lessons will be held at the warm waters of Playa Estero. One of the best beach breaks in central America. A quiet, fun, and uncrowded beach with a gentle soft sand bottom, breaking left and right, offer smaller more gentle waves for beginners on the south side and more challenging waves on the north.
Your surfing classes are 1 hour each day. The water is warm all year round so no need for a wetsuit, but Santa Catalina Retreats will provide you with a rash vest for comfort and extra protection from the sun. They have a range of soft and hard boards, so you can feel confident you’ll you have the right board for your level.
Class time each day will vary depending on the tides, but generally, you’ll be out in the early morning. And if the tides are in their favor, you’ll also enjoy a spectacular sunset session.
Santa Catalina Retreats will pick you up from Panama City at 12:00 at a central meeting place in Casco Viejo, usually in front of Hotel Casa Panama. They will make a stop for food and refreshments on the way. You will arrive at Santa Catalina around 18:00 to check into your rooms, re-fresh, and join for a sunset welcome cocktail and supper.
There will be morning yoga class every day. The styles include Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. The surfing sessions will be held in the mid-morning. Delicious healthy breakfast and lunch will be served daily. There will be also evening yoga class.
You will have free time where you can enjoy the beach, snorkel, horse ride, kayak, sup, massage, or just chill in a hammock. There will be a day trip to Coiba Island for diving or snorkeling. Evening yoga classes' style will be Restorative yoga.
You'll make out way back to Panama City at 10:00 and arrive around 16:00 so you can make an evening flight home.
You have the choice of underwater experience at Panama's UNESCO heritage listed Coiba National Park: includes snorkeling / fun dive (for guests with their open water certificate) / or try discover scuba diving if you don't have your open water certification yet and would love to take the first step into diving with a certified dive master.

Alex is a long-time practitioner of yoga with specialized mindful resilience yoga training. With a background in gymnastics and dance, Alex has always loved playing with strength building movements, creative flows and exploring the full potential of the anatomical body. As her practice grew, she began to appreciate the healing effects of slower flowing classes coupled with pranayama techniques, working to stretch and strengthen the musculoskeletal system while relaxing the nervous system. Alex dedicates herself to creating a safe space for people to find both comfort and confidence.

Michelle Barge has been practicing yoga since 1996 following a life dedicated to classical ballet and teaching yoga and leading global retreats since 2008. Her style fuses her training in traditional Hatha yoga schools, Iyengar, and Ashtanga with her training in core strength Vinyasa flow. Michelle brings a deep meditation practice to her classes through her knowledge of many forms of Buddhist and Hindu meditation. Michelle's passions and knowledge for polo, horseback riding, travel, fine foods and wine make her the perfect yoga teacher for this retreat.
This yoga retreat will be held in Santa Catalina, Panama. The location makes it the perfect place to disconnect and take some time out. You can chill on a hammock with a good book, sprawl out on the spacious lawns, lounge by the pool overlooking the pacific ocean, or enjoy a sunset drink at the restaurant bar.
You will be served daily delicious healthy breakfast and lunch. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. Dinners are not included in the price at a waterfront restaurant, as well as the best local restaurants in the village providing a deliciously unique and immersive experience.

Please book your flight to arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). If you would like to join the transfer from Panama City to Santa Catalina, please be at the arrivals gate of the airport no later than 10 a.m. on your retreat start date. If you are already in Panama City, Santa Catalina Retreats will pick you up at a central meeting point in Panama City no later than 12 noon. The pick-up is included in the price.
