On a Pure Surf Yoga Retreat, they not only take you surfing, and teach you some beautiful new yoga techniques; they aim to take you on a deeper journey and help discover what truly motivates and inspires you. In this modern age it is easy to find yourselves wound into a more masculine, striving and driving way of being. Salty Soul retreats aim to balance out your Yin and Yang natures. Especially in regard to how you approach challenging environments such as surfing.
The Pure Surf Yoga retreats create an opportunity to step out of your overstimulated modern life. Relax and begin to re-balance your active ’yang’ masculine states with your more receptive, feminine ‘yin’ nature. Through the process of surfing and yoga you navigate all of these polarities. Ultimately allowing you to find a healthy balance and receive fresh perspective and inspiration.
They invite you to tune into the elemental forces of nature, drop deeper into self-awareness and create some beautiful new connections along the way.
During the women's retreats you will be spending your days surfing, relaxing, and enjoying the like-minded company of others in Brooms head, Yamba, and the surrounding beaches. There is no better way to unwind from the daily draws of life. And of course, no surf and yoga retreat would be complete without delicious, high vibrational food!
On the catered retreats you share a nourishing, vegetarian, plant-based diet. As a result, the in-house chef will guide you to learn more about the key aspects of your meals. They will share some awesome new recipes and hopefully inspire you to develop some healthier eating practices for when you return home.
Program
The retreat is open to all levels from absolute beginner to intermediate and advanced surfers. Student numbers are limited to eight so you are guaranteed personal attention. The arrival date is December 2nd between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. with an opening circle, dinner, and meditation. The retreat will finish after brunch at noon on December 5th.

Surfing
The surf is mostly sand bottom beaches with some of the best learn-to-surf waves you can find. For the more experienced surfers, you have a selection of six beaches and reefs, within a 10-kilometer radius. You will receive personal attention from Belinda Wehner, a qualified level I surf instructor with over 20 years of international coaching experience. There will be another surf instructor if the group exceeds six in the water or if clients require private tuition to suit their ability and the conditions.
All coaches are qualified lifeguards with advanced resuscitation and first aid. Let Salty Soul Wellness know if you would like to bring your own equipment, otherwise, they will supply you with a top-of-the-range soft mini Malibu and rash shirt for your protection. They suggest a lightweight wetsuit or surf top and leggings for the cooler days.
This retreat is adapted for excited beginners taking the plunge for the first time and also the experienced surfer who wants specialized instruction to push their surfing to another level. The main focus is gaining water time, learning about a variety of new breaks, and using the support of the group and yoga to help you achieve a new level of confidence in the ocean.
Yoga
The yoga will consist of gentle morning yoga classes either on the beach at sunrise or in the studio and afternoon Yin yoga with props. On this retreat, your focus will be on building strength and stamina in the morning to help you surf better and longer. This is primarily through a gentle gentle flow sequence specially designed to release your muscles and your nervous system, especially after surfing.
This more dynamic yoga style will also be combined with afternoon Yin yoga for deep release and relaxation, allowing you to assimilate the excitement of a day at the beach. And do not worry, the yoga is adapted to accommodate both complete beginners and experienced yoginis so you will be completely supported to progress at your own level over four days.
Wellness
Take time out to nurture yourself. Tune in deeper with your soul's desires. Enjoy meditation and mindfulness practices with the elements. Nourish yourself with healthy food. Connect with like-minded community. The perfect medicine for a salty soul.
