This surf camp’s goal is to accelerate your learning curve across the spectrum of the surf lifestyle to become a confident and skillful surfer. This in combination with complimentary surf stretching, surf fitness, and breathing techniques, as well as loads of film footage of yourself, which will offer you unrivaled progression and improvement.
Safari Surf Adventures’ surf camps take surfers to remote locations with high quality point break surf options which are optimum for enhancing one’s surf level.
There is a time in every surfer’s learning curve, so getting to the point where the need for actual experience in certain waves types, conditions, and situations is the only way to not only comprehend those various situations but learn how to act and react to those situations.
Safari Surf Adventures’ goal is to expedite the learning curve of these surfers through real time surf experiences with high end surf coaches on hand to guide them.
The coaching program is aimed at the intermediate level surfer. To Safari Surf Adventures, intermediate level means a solid general grasp of your equipment, relatively strong paddling skills, enough wave knowledge to put yourself in position to, and actually catch an open-faced wave. Basic bottom and top turns are easy for this surfer to achieve.
Safari Surf Adventures run performance camps to relatively remote locations with world class surf, focusing on point breaks, rock, reef, and sand. They will help you experience real surf progression under the watchful eyes and tutelage of high end surf coaches, who are qualified by the International Surf Association with a Level 2 or equivalent level.
The coaches are also knowledgeable as a lifeguard, as well as in first aid. Safari Surf Adventures will also ensure the quality, established accommodation at every location allowing guests to relax and enjoy their vacation and surroundings.
Your Safari Surf Adventures surf coaching program will be led by an experienced and passionate local team. You will be guided to your level’s appropriate waves and employ the unique training curriculum of Safari Surf Adventures in and out of the water.
A key component of their teaching philosophy is video and photo reviews, helping to track your progress and giving you focused goals to work on throughout the program. All progress tracking, photos, and videos are yours to take home at the end of your adventure, giving you a great reference for continued progression whenever and wherever you surf.
Relatively remote locations equals less crowding and more wave opportunities for you. You need consistent wave repetition. Point break type of waves are essential to actually feel, read, and surf a wave correctly. Being able to slow things down on a long drawn-out wave will, in itself, open a trove of knowledge which will translate into a higher level of surf performance for you.
Also, you will be educated in the proper yoga or surf stretching before and after you surf to improve overall flexibility and strength, which in turn will help progress your surfing.
For most intermediate level surfers, the major roadblock to advancing your skill is in your head. Blending breathwork, learning how to control your breath in uncomfortable situations, and building a core mental approach to situations in the surf that once had you handcuffed will unleash your potential not only in surfing, but also in all stress type situations in life.
There is no substitute for video analysis to help you understand your shortcomings and progress your surfing. Safari Surf Adventures has invested in the best (and most expensive) video analysis software in the industry. Having a coach walk you through your video clips is priceless when it comes to advancing your surf skill.
The best watermen and women and trained surf coaches will be with you every step of the way, in the water and on land. Providing instant live feedback is essential in expediting and developing your confidence and your development.
Safari Surf Adventures has teamed up with many current and former pro surfers who endorse their program. Do not be surprised if a pro surfer pops in on your camp to be a guest coach, providing you invaluable feedback on your surfing and hang with you for the event.
This surf camp will be held in Puerto Chicama, Peru. Puerto Chicama is a small coastal town in the region of La Libertad, northwestern Peru, 70 kilometers north of Trujillo City.
The coastal strip around Chicama set the stage for the rise of many pre-Columbian cultures, such as the pre-Ceramic Huaca Prieta civilization, which is more than 5,000 years old, and the Cupisnique, which is more than 3,000 years old, making a surf trip to Chicama, a fascinating adventure back in time.
The La Libertad province is also the region where the Andes mountains come closest to the coast, creating a desert coast climate and ensuring moderate temperatures and blue skies almost constantly throughout the year.
Peru’s civilization is the oldest in South America. Neighboring countries have been created from ancient Peruvian territory and empire. Peru was the political and productive center of the region with a privileged and special geographical location.
Modern Peru boasts entrepreneurs who have rediscovered their capacity to create new wealth, businesses, and services. The country has overcome difficult political and economic crises. Although Peru is still undergoing the consolidation of its institutions, the country has now seen over two decades of democracy.
There are various celebrations and festivals in Peru, including patron saint feasts, processions, carnivals, and rituals, encompassing the expression of belief in God, respect for nature, and the celebration of freedom. Peruvian festivals have a mystical side to them, most of them are the result of a fusion between Catholicism and pre-Hispanic religious traditions.
Repaying the earth is part of the main celebrations in all regions, and is about rewarding and recognizing the Pachamama (Mother Earth) for her endless generosity.
The surf camp package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. A rich breakfast buffet and a variation of delicious a la carte lunch and dinner menus will be prepared. Water, tea, and coffee are complimentary, while other non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available at additional costs.
It is recommended that you to drink only bottled or previously boiled water and bring a water bottle, especially if you will be traveling outside of the larger cities. You will be provided with bottled water at the hotel, as well as one bottle of water every day at your room per person.
There is a great amount of activities that you can choose from, such as visits to the main archaeological sites of the area and pampering yourself in a first-class spa.
Pre-Inca mud temples, citadels, and tombs are accessible in the local area around Chicama and are among some of the most important Peruvian archeological sites.
Trujillo, Peru’s third most populous city, is a one-hour drive from Chicama and is well known for its fantastic cuisine and local dance, the Marinera. There are also opportunities to wander the historic old town along the banks of the Moche river.
